shopping

Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson on Friday reminded holiday shoppers to be extra careful during the holiday season.

He offered the following tips:

• Be sure to lock your vehicle. Do not leave items like purses, wallets, cell phones or other personal items laying in plain view in the seat or floor. Lock these items in the trunk if you’re not taking them with you while shopping.

• Take care to not leave your shopping cart unattended, especially if you have a purse, wallet, cell phone or other personal item in the cart.

• Take only what you need while shopping. The less you have on you, the less chance you have of losing it or it getting stolen.

• Pay attention to your surroundings and those around you, especially in crowded stores or parking lots. Do not let your small children wander around by themselves, keep them with you at all times.

• Also remember during this busy holiday shopping season, many people will be shopping. Be courteous, polite and patient while driving. Obey the speed limits, traffic signals and stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.
