The window of Darby’s Pharmacy remained boarded up Saturday afternoon after the pharmacy was one of two burglarized early Saturday.

The Andalusia Police Department is investigating burglaries that occurred early Saturday at Darby’s Pharmacy and Mallette Drugs, both located on South Three Notch St. near Andalusia Hospital. The stores are located directly across the street from one another.

Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson said that around 4:30 Saturday morning, alarm monitoring companies called in alarms at both businesses at nearly the same time. Officers responding found broken windows at both stores.

Details on what was taken were not immediately available, according to a press release from the APD. Earlier this week, the APD reported a rash of burglaries on the west side of town, and asked for help solving them.

Hudson said he wants to reassure the public that the police department is doing its best to catch those responsible for this and other recent burglaries.

Anyone with information about who is committing these burglaries is asked to contact the APD at 334-222-1155.
