The Red Level Tigers held on to the lead for part of the first half, but it was the Straughn Tigers who emerged with a 47-40 victory on Monday night in Red Level.

Hank Peeples got Straughn off to a strong start as he was dialed in from long range.

Peeples knocked down five 3-pointers to help give Straughn a 17-13 lead at the end of the first.

Jarvaris Samuel added the other 2 points for Straughn in the first.

Red Level got 5 points in the opening period from Javrius Grooms and 3 points from Hunter Carpenter.

Red Level battled back in the second period behind a strong 6-point effort from Jeffery Perdue to give them a 26-25 lead heading into halftime.

Ontaryo Nearer dropped in 4 points for Red Level in the second period.

Peeples added another 3-pointer for Straughn in the second period.

Straughn came out strong in the third period with a quick bucket from Keaun Samuel followed by a 3-pointer from Johnathan Driver.

Peeples then added a put back to give Straughn a 32-26 lead.

At the end of the third period, Straughn was on top 36-34.

Straughn continued the strong second half push, and picked up 11 points in the fourth period to secure the win.

Peeples led Straughn with 20 points.

“The game went a little bit how I expected,” Straughn head coach Rusty Andrews said. “Red Level has a good team and they are fundamentally sound. I thought we would come out flat tonight, but we didn’t… Red Level just out played us.”

Perdue led Red Level with 14 points.

“We played decent, but we gave them too many good looks,” Red Level coach Allen Catrett said. “We have to do a better job of making those contested shots. Overall, we played decent.”
