Faye Carolyn McKee

Mrs. Faye Carolyn McKee, age 80, of Andalusia, passed away on Tues., Feb. 2, 2016.

Funeral services for will be held Wed., Feb. 10, 2016, at 1 p.m. from Grace Chapel Baptist Church in Andalusia, with the Rev. Jerome Welden presiding.

Visitation for Mrs. McKee will be from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 9, Marshall-Hammond Chapel of Andalusia.

She was born in Watonga, Okla., on Feb. 25, 1935, to the late Mr. Edward and Miss Gladys Duke. She was the only sibling of this union. Faye was raised in the small town setting where she grew and flourished. She graduated from Dunbar High, where she excelled in basketball and was selected All State Guard.

Faye confessed Christ at Union Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was engaged to and upon graduation did marry Robert Scott, and they moved to Washington, DC. To this union was born one son.

Faye eventually married the late Rev. Roy B. McKee. Faye was in the health care field, where she acquired her nursing credentials. Upon her and her husband’s retirement, they moved to his home in Andalusia, where she became affiliated with St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, True Devine Missionary Baptist Church and finally Grace Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Faye was very active, she was more than a talker, she was a doer, when it came to serving the Lord.

Faye was a member of the SW District and SE District Ministers Wives Auxiliary, where she worked on the enrollment and finance committee. She also worked on special efforts. She was field worker for the Alabama Baptist State Women’s Auxiliary, under the leadership of Dr. Gertie Lowe. She did special decorations for the SW District Women Auxiliary. She was a faithful supporter and attendee of the SW, SE and Alabama State Convention.

Faye loved to work in her yard and tend to her flowers, she truly had a green thumb.

She was preceded her in death by her father, Edward Davis; and mother, Gladys McGhee; her brothers, Charles and Dennis McGhee; and her husband, Rev. Roy McKee .

Faye is survived by her beloved son, the Rev. Reginald Scott of Andalusia; two sisters, Charlot Heck of Los Angeles, Calif., and Patricia Joyner of Washington, D.C.; two granddaughters, Ta-Tanish Scott of Lancaster, Calif., and Kyra Sparks of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter –in-law, Sharon Scott Caldwell of Los Angeles, Calif.; one great-granddaughter, Triaiea; four great-grandsons, Tikey, Kameron, Keiondra and Kenneth; one great great-grandson, Kashmere; and one great great-great-grandson, M. J. She also leaves her other son, David Crittenden, who called her mom and whom she called her son; two very dear friends, Mrs. Annette Hammond and Mrs. Hazel Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Marshall-Hammond Funeral Home is serving the family.

 

Phoebe Anna Gale Brooks

Mrs. Phoebe Anna Gale Brooks, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Fri., Feb. 5, 2016, at her grandson’s home in Andalusia.

Phoebe was born on August 9, 1925, to John and Jessie Gale of Endicott, N.Y. On March 16, 1944, at the age of 19, Phoebe married her husband of 71 years, George Justin Brooks. George and Phoebe spent the majority of their lives living and running a successful hobby business in Vestal, N.Y., called GJ’s Hobbies. Phoebe enjoyed working with silk flowers, arts and crafts, and visiting with her customers. She was also an avid New York Yankees baseball fan. Phoebe and George came to Andalusia to live with their grandson and his family in April 2014 after declining health.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ellen Brooks Finley of Fort Walton Beach; grandson, Michael (Kandise) Finley of Andalusia; granddaughter, Michelle (Mark) Rea of Gulf Breeze; grandson, Robert (Lea) Finley of Hollywood, Calif.; great- granddaughter, Kristen (Ian) Cooper of Andalusia; great-grandson, Camber Finley of Gulf Breeze; great-granddaughters, Courtney Finley of Auburn, Rilee Kennedy of Gulf Breeze, and Jase Kennedy of Gulf Breeze; a great great-granddaughter, Madi Finley; and special caregivers, Tammy Harrison, Charity Galloway, Brenda Brown, Stephanie Kelley, and Jameka Ward.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; sisters, Beatrice and Jessie, and brothers, Floyd, Johnny, and Tommy; and son-in-law, Lemuel K. Finley.

The family received friends and family at Foreman-Brown Funeral Home on Sun., Feb. 7, 2016. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Comfort Care Hospice of Andalusia. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Comfort Care Hospice.

 

Michael Wayne McGlaun

Mr. Michael Wayne McGlaun, 58, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Feb. 6, 2016, at his residence.

No services will be scheduled at this time.

He is survived by his mother, Betty McGlaun of Andalusia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy and Karen McGlaun of Rose Hill and Joe and Debbie McGlaun of Brandon, Miss.; and nieces and nephew, Marshall (Megan) McGlaun, Holley McGlaun, Erin McGlaun.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray McGlaun; and his nephew, Lee McGlaun.

Jake Winston Maddox

Mr. Jake Winston Maddox, 73, of Andalusia passed away on Mon., Feb. 8, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wed., Feb. 10, 2016, at Judson Baptist Church with James Pickron and Donnie Uptain officiating the service. Interment will follow in Judson Cemetery. Special music will be performed by pianist, Martha Helms, and soloist, Faye Sightler.

Visitation will be Tues., Feb. 9, 2016, at Foreman Funeral Home from 5:30-8 p.m. and he will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Maddox; sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton Winston and Connie Maddox and Quinton Eugene and Kay Maddox; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Dawn Brook Jr.; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Heather Lynn and Clark Connell Murray; grandchildren, Suzanne Maddox Lunsford, Lucas Winston Maddox, Robert Wayne Maddox, Quinton Jacob Maddox, Peyton Kelley Maddox, Ella Clark Murray, and Kate Murray; six great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Gail Grissett and Dianne M. and Bob Foshee; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Maddox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Arthur and Christalee Sightler Maddox; brother, Warren Sightler Maddox; and brother-in-law, James Walden Grissett.

Pallbearers will be Rob Maddox, Quinton Maddox, Peyton Maddox, Lucas Maddox, Shane Lunsford, and Clark Murray.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in honor of Mr. Maddox to Comfort Care Hospice or Judson Baptist Church and Cemetery Fund.
