Mary Rosie Chavers

Mrs. Mary Rosie Chavers, age 86, of Andalusia passed away Sun., Feb. 21, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chavers will be held 11 a.m., Thurs., Feb. 25, 2016, at the Beda Baptist Church with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Her grandson, the Rev. Jonathan Jones, and Pastor David Roy will officiate. Special music will be provided by her granddaughter, Jennifer Withrow. Burial will follow in the Beda church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Wed., Feb. 24, 2016, in the Keahey Funeral Home chapel.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas Larry (Susan) Chavers of Ft. Walton and Mark Timothy (Jenny) Chavers of Prattville; her daughters, Mary Evelyn Heichel of Andalusia and Ima Dianne (John Wade) Jones of Andalusia; brothers, Lloyd (Charlotte) Smith of Andalusia and Gary (Charlotte) Smith of Andalusia; sisters, Gladys Sanders of Andalusia, Bonnie Pare of Montgomery, Nellie Ruth Kennedy of Geneva, Annis (Henry) Little of Montgomery, and Bessie (Tony) Orsa of Milligan, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Denise (Wade) Ivey, Laura ( Jim ) Hartline, Jeremy (Jessica) Jones, Thomas Yancey Chavers, April Whitbeck, Jennifer (Forest) Withrow, Shaun (Amanda) Jackson, Johnathan (Lindsey) Jones, Stephanie (Chris) Kadletz, Jaleth Chavers, Hayden Chavers and Sarah Tetter; and 18 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Crawford Chavers, to whom she was married more than 60 years; her son-in-law, Dennis Heichel; parents, Hollie Mathew Smith and Mary Florence Cason Smith; and two sisters, Clemma Smith and Daisy Little.

Mrs. Rosie Chavers loved living on the farm and tending to her cattle. She loved her family, neighbors, her church and most especially her Lord. Beda Baptist Church held a special place in her heart and was a huge part of her life. It was here, she served as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and song leader for many years and also was the place she met her husband.

The family will be receiving flowers or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beda Baptist Church.
