Lady Bobcats topple Andalusia

The Opp Lady Bobcats’ junior varsity softball team swept the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs in two games Tuesday night in Opp.

The Lady Bulldogs out hit the Lady Bobcats 10 hits to seven hits, but the Lady Bobcats were able to claw their way to a 6-2 victory.

Raygen Clarke was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Bulldogs in the defeat.

Grace Anna Spears picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Bobcats as she struck out five and allowed just two runs over four and two-thirds innings of work.

Laura Lee Short drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to get the Lady Bobcats off and rolling in the first game.

Spears drove in a pair of runs in bottom of the second inning to put Opp on top 6-0.

Clarke drove in Mia Porter in the top of the third inning and then Sydney Ray drove in a run in the top of the fourth for the Bulldogs’ only runs of the game.

 

OPP 15, 

ANDALUSIA 8

 

In the second game, Opp got an outstanding pitching performance from Spears to give the Lady Bobcats a 15-8 win.

The Lady Bobcats poured on the runs early and held a 12-0 lead after three innings of play.

The Lady Bulldogs weren’t going to go away so easily.

Chloe Mikel singled in the first run of the game and then Porter followed with a two-run single to make it 12-3.

Kylie Kyles and Payton Burden followed with RBI singles.

Mikel added another RBI in the top of the fourth to leave the Lady Bulldogs trailing 12-8 heading into the home half of the fourth.

Spears held off the Lady Bulldogs over the final two innings to lead the Lady Bobcats to a sweep over cross-county rival Andalusia.

Blair led the Lady Bobcats with three RBIs in the victory and was 3-for-4 at the plate.

Adams also picked up three RBIs for the Lady Bobcats and was 2-for-2.

Mikel led the way for the Lady Bulldogs going 3-for-3 in the second game and driving in two runs.

Porter finished 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs.
