Lady Tigers top Pleasant Home with walk-off single in 9th

It took nine innings, but the Straughn Lady Tigers were able to overcome the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles for a 7-6 victory Tuesday night Straughn.

Abby Walker singled to start the game off for the Lady Eagles and then came around to score when Anna Bulger ripped a single right.

Sissy Martin then came around to score and Anna Bulger scored on a sacrifice fly from Taylor McGhee to give Pleasant Home an early 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, Molly Stewart crushed a double in to right to get the Lady Tigers rolling.

Colby Adams then ripped ball to third that was too hot to handle and allowed Stewart to come in to score.

Kristen Peavey came up a few batters later and laced a single into left that scored Adams.

The Lady Eagles escaped further damage when Anna Bulger snagged a line drive from her position at shortstop and fired to third for a double play.

In the bottom of the second, Dallas Mackoff walked to start the inning and then scored on a double from Sydney Arnett to tie the game 3-3.

After a single from Stewart moved Arnett to third, Adams reached on error allowing Arnett to score and give the Lady Tigers a 4-3 lead.

Another error followed off the bat of Armstrong that allowed two more runs to score to put the Lady Tigers up 6-3 heading into the third.

With two outs in the top of the fourth, Camille Holley came around to score off an error, and then another error allowed Martin to score leaving Pleasant Home trailing 6-5.

The score remained 6-5 until the top of the seventh inning.

McGhee started the top of the seventh with hard grounder up the middle for a single. Cassidy Godwin then reached on error and McGhee moved up to second.

Amy Bulger followed with a sacrifice that moved the runners up to second and third.

Tami Hilson then drove a single into left that scored McGhee to tie the game 6-6.

Straughn loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lady Eagles stood tall sent the game into extra-innings.

Both teams continued to battle and the score remained 6-6 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.

Sarah Langford reached with a walk to start Lady Tigers’ half of the ninth, and then Carolina Fussell reached on an error.

A wild pitch then moved Langford to third and Fussell to second. Mackoff stood in with a 2-1 count and drove a single to center that allowed Langford to score easily as the winning win.

Anna Bulger led the way for the Lady Eagles going 2-for-5 with one RBI.

Armstrong finished the night 1-for-5 with two RBIs for the Lady Tigers.

Pleasant Home will be back in action tonight when the host the Opp Lady Bobcats at 6 p.m.

Straughn’s next games will be this weekend in the Prattville Christians Academy.
