The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs knocked off the Opp Lady Bobcats to open the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles’ softball tournament, but fell to Kinston in the late game.

Andalusia got a big performance from one of their young pitchers, as Sydney Ray held the Lady Bobcats scoreless to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory.

After reaching on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the first inning, Haley Ballard came around to score on a throwing error for the Lady Bulldogs’ only run of the game.

“We played really good defense tonight and got some great pitching,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Mikel said. “We didn’t really hit the ball at all, but from a pitching and defensive standpoint, I can’t ask for any more.”

 

OPP 8,                        KINSTON 4

After falling behind early 4-1, the Opp Lady Bobcats battled back to knock off the Kinston Lady Bulldogs 8-4.

Ariyon Hightower had the lumber working for the Lady Bobcats as she belted a 3-run home run.

Abby Cox finished the night with three hits and also scored three runs for Opp.

Grace Ann Spears came in as a relief pitcher for the Lady Bobcats in the third inning and picked up the win for Opp.

 

KINSTON 7,              ANDALUSIA 2

The Lady Bulldogs fell 7-2 to Kinston in the final game of the evening on Friday.

Chloe Mikel led the way for the Lady Bulldogs going 2-for-2 with one RBI.
