The National Transportation Safety Board will be the lead investigating agency in an air ambulance crash in Coffee County, and is scheduled to arrive onsite later today.

A Life Flight helicopter operated by Haynes was  assisting in an auto accident when it was reported missing at 12:17 a.m. It was en route to Montgomery.

James Brown, deputy director of the Coffee County Emergency Management Agency, said the helicopter was found in a wooded area at 7:02 this morning. All four people on board, including the wreck victim, were dead. Brown said the crash occurred in the deeply wooded area of the Goodman community.

Alabama EMA will continue to support the responding agency as needed.
