The Andalusia Bulldogs jumped on the Brantley Bulldogs early, but needed extra innings to pull out a 6-5 win Monday night in the 2016 Butch Youmans Memorial Tournament in Opp.

Garret Davis reached on an error to start the bottom of the first inning and moved around to third on a double down the line from Hogan Nichols.

A passed ball with Riley Graham at the plate allowed Davis to score to give Andalusia a 1-0 lead.

Andalusia added another run in the bottom of the first when after Will Clark drew a walk and took off for second. Clark got in a pickle between first and second and stayed in it long enough for Jake Barefoot to come around to score.

Brantley cut the lead in half when Mack Wise sent a solo shot over the fence in left to start the top of the second.

In the bottom of the third, Chase Hopkins and Davis reached to start the inning.

Hopkins then scored on double off the bat of Ethan Wilson, and Davis scored on passed ball.

Wilson came around to score on a RBI single from Nichols to put the Bulldogs on top 5-1.

Brantley battled back with two runs in the top of the sixth, and a two-out error plated two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game 5-5.

Clark drew a walk to start the bottom of the eighth and Clay Stephens entered as a pinch runner.

Nathan Langley dropped down a sacrifice bunt to move Stephens to second and a bunt single from Will Jones put Stephens on third.

Grant Holley followed with a perfect squeeze bunt that plated Stephens for the winning run.

“I’m proud the way we played for nearly nine innings,” Andalusia head coach Tyler Dent said. “We got a great bunt there at the end from our sophomore second baseman (Holley).”
