The Straughn Tigers fought back after falling behind early to the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles, but ended up falling 11-4 in the opening game of the 2016 Butch Youmans Memorial Spring Break Tournament in Opp.

Blue Eagles’ starting pitcher Lane Chavers got Barrett Bush to ground out to start the game, but Brock Hammett and Christopher Hudson followed with one-out singles. However, the Tigers were unable to push across a run in the opening frame.

In the bottom of the first inning, the first three W.S. Neal batters reached on two walks and a hit batter.

Straughn battled back in the top of the fourth inning when Shane Jones got them started with a one-out double to the gap in right-center.

Errors off the bats of Madison Ward and Mitch Schultz loaded the bases up for the Tigers with one out.

Gill Morgan came up with two outs after a Straughn strikeout and ripped a ball up the middle that scored Jones from third.

Trystian Barber and Bush followed with RBI singles to cut the Blue Eagles’ lead down to 5-3.

Hammett then drew a bases-loaded walk to make the score 5-4.

W.S. Neal picked up another run in the bottom of the fourth, two runs in the bottom of the fifth and three runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Tigers 11-4 in the opening game of the Butch Youmans Memorial Spring Break Tournament in Opp.
