A local church is working to increase its membership, while being able to provide a way to bring people to church.

Revival Center Church on Airport Road will hold a carwash and barbecue fundraiser, along with a bake sale, on April 9.

Organizer Eric Upton said that they want to be able to purchase a church van to transport anyone who needs a ride to church.

“It’s important for those who want to go to church, but don’t have a way to be able to get to church if they can’t,” he said.

Upton said he personally knows the struggle of not having a means of transportation, but was blessed with the opportunity to purchase a vehicle.

The fundraiser, which they are calling “Paving the Way with Jesus” will be held at Auto Zone in Andalusia from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Upton said they are pre-selling car wash tickets for $5 each or donations will be accepted the day of the fundraiser.

Additionally, barbecue plates and a bake sale will also be there.

“We will be grilling out and selling barbecue,” he said. “And the children will have a bake sale.”

The price for the barbecue plates has not been set yet, Upton said. However, he said it will be reasonable.

Organizers are working with local businesses to help donate food for the barbecue.

Anyone who wishes to purchase an advance ticket or donate food may call Upton at 228-546-2712 or Heather McBride at 334-343-5797.
