The Straughn Lady Tigers had a big weekend on the diamond, as they swept the way to a championship in the Samson softball tournament over the weekend.

 

STRAUGHN 7, 

PROVIDENCE 5

In the opening game, the Lady Tigers got their toughest test of the tournament, but rallied in the final inning for a 7-5 win.

The Lady Tigers led for most of the game, but Providence took a 5-3 lead heading into the final frame.

Straughn picked up four runs in their final at bat to top Providence 7-5.

Kristen Peavey led the way for the Lady Tigers going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Molly Stewart finished the opening game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

 

STRAUGHN 8, 

SAMSON 0

Straughn opened up strong in the second game and pounded out eight runs for an 8-0 victory over Samson.

Stewart remained perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Hayden Willis tossed a shutout and struck out seven in the win.

 

STRAUGHN 4, 

PROVIDENCE 1

The Lady Tigers earned the tournament crown with a 4-1 win over Providence in the championship game.

Sarah Langford, Hayden Willis and Macy Matthews each drove in a run for the Lady Tigers.

Sydney Arnett picked up the win on the mound as she worked all seven innings and struck out four.
