The Florala Police Department is seeking help in finding the proper home for a small box that appears to contain someone’s ashes.

The box was found by utility workers on Thursday.

“It appears to contain the ashes prepared by a crematorium,” Chief Sonny Bedsole said. “There was also a presentation-type flag with it.”

Bedsole said a logical conclusion is that the remains are of a veteran.

“If someone is missing this, or if it was taken from you, we’d ask that you call the police department,” he said.
