All three school systems have approved school calendars for the next school year.

Opp City Schools will begin on Aug. 8, Andalusia City Schools on Aug. 10 and Covington County Schools on Aug. 15.

In Opp, teachers return for institute and inservice Aug. 1-5.

OCS Superintendent Michael Smithart said they kept all the major holidays in line with ACS and the county schools.

“This mirrors al lot of what we did last year,” Smithart said. “The only thing is our staff wanted Good Friday off. It’s inline with Andalusia and Covington County.”

County schools Superintendent Shannon Driver said theirs is identical to last year.

“Our principals surveyed our teachers and they were happy with the calendar,” he said. “It gives us a little bit longer of a summer and a holiday each month.”
