An Evergreen man with an active warrant led Opp Police on a chase Wednesday night.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that around 8:51 p.m., OPD D-Shift officers observed an individual that the OPD had an active warrant on a man in a vehicle at the Finnway Express at 407 West Cumming Avenue.

The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a white 2013 Mazda3 i SV that the suspect was driving, McDonald said.

“The individual fled at a high rate refusing to stop,” he said. “The officer initiated a vehicle pursuit that continued up South Jackson Street, Hart Avenue, Main Street, Barnes Street and Foreman (Circle), where officers were able to get the vehicle stopped at the intersection of Foreman Circle and Kolb Avenue.”

Those streets are all Opp residential.

Officers arrested Bryan D. Reed, 29, of Evergreen.

He was charged with attempting to elude a police officer, which is a class C felony.

He was also arrested for his outstanding warrant.
