The Andalusia Bulldogs varsity soccer team got a big win at home on Thursday night knocking off the Hillcrest-Evergreen Jaguars 12-0.

“This is the first year that Hillcrest has had a team and this was just their first game,” Andalusia head coach Jarret Williamson said. “They are going to be good team in few years, but this was the first time a lot of them had played a soccer match. It was a good for us to play an up-and-coming program like that because it allowed us to get a look at a lot of our players. We got to some of the newer players a lot of time, and that’s important because we are going to need big minutes from them later in the year.”

Andalusia got the ball to start the contest and quickly went on top when Adam Peek sent a rocket into the back of the net following a penalty kick.

It didn’t take long for the Bulldogs to add another goal as Wain Yongkuma sent a shoot in from just outside the box.

Less than a minute later, Jaden Brown put the Bulldogs on top 3-0 after attacked the goal straight on and leaped a defender before sending a shoot into the back of the net.

Reese Burkhardt punched in a header off of an corner kick from Kiki Wain to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 advantage.

Shortly after, Anna Brady scored off of an corner kick from Wain.

With 30 minutes left in the opening half, Brwon knocked in his second goal of the contest.

Wain put the Bulldogs on top 7-0 with a long penalty kick.

Peek picked up his second goal of the game when he sent a rocket from midfield that skirted past the outstretched arms of the Jaguar goalie.

“I felt like we competed well and communicated well as a team,” Williamson said. “We are in the mind set to just take it one game at a time right now. This was a good game for us to be able to get a lot people some reps. Now we have to get ready for a big week next week. We play Enterprise and Providence Christian at home next week. After that, we face Houston Academy before we get into area play.”

The Bulldogs will be at home against Enterprise on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., and March 2 against Providence-Christian at 6 p.m.
