Authorities are searching for a suspect following an apparent bank robbery in Geogiana Monday afternoon.

According to Butler County sheriff Kenny harden, an unidentified black male walked into Trustmark Bank of Georgiana at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday and demanded money.

“The suspect was armed with a gun and received an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the bank,” Harden said.

“Law enforcement, along with the help of K-9s, tracked the suspect a few miles west of the bank on Hwy. 106, where he was apparently picked up by a vehicle.”

Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspect are asked to call either the Georgiana Police Department at 334-376-2801 or the Butler County Sheriff’s Office at 334-382-6521.
