Point A Recreation Area Park Manager Eric Johnson announced Tuesday that the park will add primitive tent camping starting this Fri., May 26.

Primitive camping will be free for all Covington County residents and $10 per night for non-county residents.

“There has been a lot of people asking for this,” Johnson said. “We’ve been working hard to add camping to the area.”

Along with the primitive camping, the park will also offer dry RV camping, meaning no electric or water hookups, for $15 per night.

Johnson said that those using the dry RV camping space, across from the primitive camping area at Point A, will be allowed to use the dumping station and fill up water tanks and jugs at the Point A’s full RV Park, he said.

There will also be additional 24-hour security for the camping areas.
