Concert set for Friday night at FBC

Locals looking for something to do tomorrow night have the opportunity to hear the church choir and providence singers of Providence Baptist Church.

The event will be held at First Baptist Church of Andalusia.

The group is under the direction of 43-year Music Minister Dr. Thomas R. Smith.

The group will present a variety of sacred music from anthems to spirituals.

Organists are Bobbie Abercrombie and Gayle Smith and pianist is Suzanne Harris.

Included in the church choir’s repertoire will be “Celebrate the Day” by Pepper Choplin; “What is Love” by Phillip Kevern; “Our Lord Reigns” by Stan Pethel; “Shine on Us” arranged by Bruce Greer; “Let Your Light Shine” by Joe Raney; “Down to the River to Pray” and “Let the Church Say Amen” by Mary McDonald; “Praise His Holy Name” by Keith Hampton and “Boundless Love” arranged by Camp Kirkland.”

The Providence Singers will perform “’Tis the Church Triumphant Singing” by Stan Pethel; “Pray Now” arranged by Wayne Haun; and “Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit,” by Moses Hogan.

Providence Baptist Church is a growing rural church in the Beauregard community of Lee County, near Auburn and Opelika.

Pastor of the church is Dr. Rusty Sowell.

The concert is free and will begin at 6 p.m., July 14, at FBC Andalusia.
