Davis named associate dean

LBW Community College named Dr. Arlene Davis as associate dean of institutional advancement, a division of the College responsible for furthering public understanding and recognition of the goals and missions of the institution, foundation relations, media relations, and fund raising efforts.

“We are very pleased with the skills and enthusiasm Dr. Davis brings to this role,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel. “Her 11 years as a faculty member at LBW gives her insight to the needs and opportunities of students, which helps guide us in all our outreach efforts. In addition, she successfully led efforts the last few years in organizing and raising funds for the annual LBWCC Foundation golf tournament in Greenville.”

Davis said she is excited to make the transition from faculty to administration.

“This is an exciting opportunity to help students in a whole new way while advancing the college,” she said. “I look forward to working with our foundations in in their important work of raising funds to help students through scholarships and supporting the college’s needs. I also look forward to working with community leaders in all the communities we serve.”

Davis holds a Ph.D. specializing in industrial and organizational psychology, and master of business administration degree, both from Capella University.

She also earned a master of science degree in counseling, education, and psychology from the University of West Alabama.

She earned a bachelor of science degree and associate of science degree in general education from Troy University.

In addition to teaching psychology and history at LBW, she also served as the coordinator of international and special projects and has extensive work experience with various areas of successful project development and fundraising for non-profit educational entities at the postsecondary level.
