Brantley shuts out Straughn

The Straughn Tigers traveled 20 miles up 331 to take on the neighboring Brantley Bulldogs Friday night only to come up short by 45 points.

Brantley routed Straughn 52-7 at David Lowery Field.

The game was a stark contrast from 2016’s when Straughn won in a close 49-48 game.

Brantley scored 46 unanswered points before Straughn got on the board in the fourth quarter, when Scott Roney scored on a 1-yard run with 10:08 left in the fourth.

Brantley would score one more in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Hudson led the team in rushing with 74 yards.

Roney finished the game with 59 yards rushing.

Cade Courson had 19 yards receiving and Collin Crain added 14 yards.

Straughn will travel to Opp on Friday night to take on the Opp Bobcats in an in-county and region match-up.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Channell-Lee Stadium.
