Sign-ups are underway for the 6th Annual Lower Alabama Walk to End Alzheimer’s event scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sat., Sept. 23, 2017, at Frank Jackson State Park in Opp.

The 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s is being planned by community members who know firsthand the devastation of this incurable disease. Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with an opening ceremony at 8:45 a.m. and a two-mile walk beginning at 9 a.m.

Strollers are allowed, but skateboards, bicycles and inline skates are discouraged. Dogs must be on a leash.
