LADY BOBCATS SHOW OUT: Opp knocks off 7A Murphy in volleyball action

The Opp Lady Bobcats had a strong showing at Saturday’s Enterprise Volleyball Tournament, but fell in the quarterfinals.

In the opening pool play match, the Lady Bobcats came away with a 2-0 (25-10, 25-14) victory over Class 7A Murphy.

Maggie Short helped guide the Lady Bobcats to the win with five kills, two aces, two blocks and 11 digs.

Bailee Boyd had a strong game with 12 assists and two aces.

The Lady Bobcats continued the strong start with a 2-0 (25-14, 25-5) win over Eufaula in the second pool game of the day.

Boyd had another big game with 11 assists, five blocks, four kills and three aces.

Abbie Glass added six digs.

In the final pool play game, the Lady Bobcats topped Houston Academy 2-0 (25-19, 25-20).

Boyd led the way for the Lady Bobcats with 17 assists.

Haylee Brundidge added 17 digs in the Lady Bobcat win.

Short and Molly Meeks each had four kills.

The Lady Bobcats put up a mighty battle against Trinity in the quarterfinals, but went down 2-0 (25-23, 25-23) to the Lady Wildcats.

Boyd finished with 11 assists and three aces to pace the Lady Bobcats.

Madi Henley had six kills and one block.

Brundidge came in with 11 blocks.
