Andalusia Isshinryu Karate black belts Taj Patel and Kila Owens garnered top finishes over the weekend at the Battle of Cumberland Gap Open Karate Tournament in Middlesboro, Ky.

Owens has put on a strong display throughout the summer and continues to rack up first place finishes in fall competition.

She won the Adult Black Belt Kata Grand Championship and the Women’s Black Belt Fighting Grand Championship.

Owens also finished first in kata and kumite and finished second in weapons.

Patel took home three first place finishes in youth black belt fighting weapons and kata.
