Horry, Krudop to be honored at homecoming
Published Wednesday, April 29, 2009
The W. Robert Brown Outstanding Graduate Award committee has selected two Andalusia High School graduates who will be recognized during AHS homecoming activities in October.
NBA star Robert Horry and local educator Dr. Jim Krudop will both receive the award this year.
Horry has played 16 seasons in the NBA and has seven championships. He is one of only two players to have won NBA championships with three different teams: two with the Houston Rockets, three with the Los Angeles Lakers, and two with the San Antonio Spurs. Before beginning his professional career, he played at the University of Alabama, where he helped the Tide win three SEC championships.
In 2002, the City of Andalusia recognized his accomplishments on Robert Horry Day, which was attended by approximately 1,000 people. He is a regular visitor to Andalusia and has supported many local projects.
Krudop is a vice president of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, who was described by his nominators as a person “constantly looking for ways to give back to the Andalusia community.”
He is a former city councilman, has served as president of Rotary and the local Chamber of Commerce, and has a leadership role in the Andalusia Health Services board, which has awarded more than $1.1 million in scholarships. He also has given his time to United Fund, the American Cancer Society, local PTOs, and other charitable organizations. He is an active member of First Baptist Church.
Krudop earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University, and earned a master of arts degree in speech communication and a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Alabama.
The outstanding graduate award was established by the Class of 1948 Foundation to recognize graduates of Andalusia High School and Woodson High School who have distinguished themselves by service to the nation, state, Armed Forces or charitable organizations or by outstanding achievements in professional endeavors.
The committee accepts nominations each year. If a person is nominated but not chosen in the year of his or her nomination, the nomination remains on file for future consideration.

With all the wonderful accomplished graduates of Andalusia High School over the years...are you telling us the best you could come up with to honor was someone who has done basically nothing more than play basketball all their life?

Biscuits: You will be pleased to know that, Robert Horry founded and supports the Robert Horry Foundation which provides services to children in need. I would say that's pretty significant. Let's not throw sand, before we know which way the wind is blowing.

Sounds like Hoover Gravy is not a basketball fan.
Who's more famous than Robert Horry that graduated from Andy or Woodson?

What if you gain the whole world and yet lose your soul? Accomplishments here are nice, but what have any of us done to prepare for Eternity? Read John 3: 1-7. Thanks
