Health reform, not takeover, is needed

Published Wednesday, August 26, 2009

A Red Level resident has recently written two articles to The Andalusia Star-News about our need for national health care. She gives all kinds of sources of data at the end of her letters; however, she did not list the one being debated. Evidently she has not reviewed what she thinks we need. It is contained in the 1,018-page takeover of the entire health system in this great country.

Let me first state that I was in the life and health insurance business for more than 40 years and I can assure you that half or more of those people without health insurance could afford health and life insurance but cars, big houses, cigarettes and other things are more important than providing health and life insurance care for their family. The other half are not denied medical care as it is available if they are in the low-income bracket. I don’t know anyone turned away from the emergency room.

I have downloaded all 1,018 pages from the house.gov Web site. I determined after 30 pages that, as one congressman stated, it would take two weeks and two lawyers to try to understand it. I decided to look at certain sections that I had received through email to check.

So here are a few examples of what I found.

First, in almost every section it is stated that the Secretary of the Health and Human Services shall within 18 months develop the rules and regulations for this bill. This means about another 80,000 pages of bureaucrats mumble jumble that know everything about everything.

To get to the meat:

Page 30, section 123 – a health advisory committee will be set up to make recommendations to the secretary as to benefits, etc. (nobody knows what this will be, not even President Obama.)

Page 51, line 1 and 2 – coverage under this act shall be provided without regards to personal characteristics extraneous to provisions of high quality health care or related services (this could be the provision for illegal immigrants)

Page 58, lines 9-13 – i.d. card issued to determine individuals eligible for specific physicians and facilities.

Page 341, line 4-9 – secretary can determine not to identify a Medicare advantage plan (not approve)

Page 429, lines 1-12 – relates to consultation with respect to long-term care.

Pages 676-686 – about government control of hospital, medical facilities and staff.

Page 859, lines 7-26 and page 860, lines 1-4 – from the year 2010, starting with a “Public Health Investment Fund” of $4.6 billion and going through 2019 there will be deposited an increasing amount each year for a total deposited of $7.93 trillion and paid from the general revenue of the Treasury. (Our tax money, folks that is almost $8 trillion).

The last 100 or so pages call for the complete takeover of all medical services in the United States.

The last page, 1,018 – State will not be eligible for federal funds under this act and unless they agree to all regulation (etc) in this bill and assure that all political subdivisions in the state do the same.

My wife and I are on Medicare and pay $482 per month for supplemental health insurance. I would love to see this amount reduced, but not at this government plan cost and the loss of my decision to make my own choices.

We need reform in the medical field, tort reform and some reform in the drug and insurance field.

We do not need the complete takeover of our entire health system in the Second Congressional District or in the United States.

Harry Hinson

Very well put Mr. Hinson. Also, before someone makes a smart comment about the writer being on medicare, remember that you and I pay for social security and medicare every time you get a pay check. It's specifically listed on your pay stub....so you aren't getting it for free!

I have also been trying to "wade through" this 1000+ page mess. It is very vague and leaves the door open to who knows what. I suggest that everyone download the bill in it's entirety and read it for yourself (http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/p...).

I believe that our health care system is the greatest in the world but is not without fault. There will always room for change and improvement. But folks, the government doesn't do anything efficient and they need to stay out of this issue other than to establish consumer protection guidelines. Let the free market do what it does best through competition. Besides, our federal government is broke. The cycle of spending borrowed money to fund socialism must stop.

I still stand by my past statements that this has absolutely nothing to do about providing the best health care to all Americans, it's simply about controlling all Americans. Issues such as cap and trade, gun control, etc., are all about controlling every aspect of your life.

Mr. Hinson,

Why is the AARP in favor of this health care reform if it does (which it doesn't) do all of the things you said it will do. You apparently have inferred that the reform proposals will result in a complete take over of health care by the government from:
1. Your opposition to Obama's election;
2. Your faith-based view of looking at reality;
3. The misinformation that is being spread by people who have a vested interest in the status quo (until the system collapses).
You are already covered by a "socialistic" system of health insurance, Medicare. Don't you think everyone should have the same right as you to be covered by a program similar to Medicare? By the way, learn the difference between the insurance coverage for health care expenses (which is what the proposals seek to reform) and the provision of health care. They health care delivery system (i.e., private doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes) that now delivers your health care will be same after the enactment of the reforms.

In a word, you have been "punked."

Mr. Hinson, thank you very much for writing this article and for the study and time you must have put into it. I, like you and many others know that we have a power hungry corrupt group of left wing liberals in charge of the leadership of our country in Washington and their true agenda is total control of every Americans life. Thank you again and I wish every American could read your article.

Estragon,

AARP has punked you. It has liberal leadership and many members are now leaving that organization. Also why would Mr. Hinson's comments concerning this attempted Government take over of healthcare have any thing to do with him being opposed to Obama's election. You seem to know everything about the Democrats Health care bill. Maybe you can do a better job than the President and explain it to us. You must have gained your views from:

1. Your union
2. Your socialist and atheist friends
3. Misinformation from MSNBC
4. Liberal organizations like AARP

bama09: You're correct, but the majority of those who read Estragon's liberal garbage, know he was already a Punk before he was punked.

What is the matter with you folks? This health care proposal is going to bankrupt us. I don't understand the attitude of people wanting the government to do everything for them. This country was not founded on governmental control. China is buying our debt at a rapid pace. Do you wonder why? Mr. Hinson is correct about why many are not covered. I guess we now live in a time where the thinking is let the government take care of me. I don't care about tomorrow. It don't matter I won't be around. It just boils down to selfishness.

I have one question and I hope that someone can answer it: If the U.S. does not have the best healthcare system in the world, then who does and where did your information come from? I have a mother who is on Medicare and who could well afford to pay for private insurance on her own. However, when she turned 65 she was told she had to go on Medicare. This alone could save millions of dollars by allowing citizens 65 and over to keep their private health insurance if they could afford it. I am 47 and am terrified at the prospect of having one day to go on Medicare, especially if the bill in its current form passes.

My husband has a wonderful job and we have what is considered by many as excellent healthcare. Unfortunately, my daughter was diagnosed with a chronic illness and then I realized how lacking our insurance was.
I have had over 87 hearings before our insurance board pleading with them to allow my daughter to visit certain doctors (board certified). More often than not my insurance company has made decisions overruling our personal physician on how to treat my little girl. Insurance companies already use healthcare boards, so I am not sure why it warrants a bullet point in Mr. Hinson's letter. I believe America is the greatest country in the world and I am CERTAIN we can figure out a system that would allow every person affordable healthcare.

Thank you Mr Hinson for a very informative and well thought out letter. I am sorry for 188822's daughter and her plight. If you think you have it bad now with your private insurancer carrier, wait until the government's plan is enacted! You will be given ONE hearing befrore a government bureaucrat health care official who will determine that your daughter's quality of life does not qualify for additional expenditure of public funds. So like many of the elderly and infirm, the unborn children and handicapped persons, coverage will be denied and the patient will be allowed to expire. The plan is pure socialism. Why are we surprised? We knew before Obama was elected that he was a Marxist-socialist, he is only carrying out his sworn agenda. Those who study history will find similar tactics imposed by Hitler under Nazi fascism: rid society of the undesirables and unwanted needy citizens so we can "purify" the human race. May God help us if this health care plan is approved. Why do you think they are trying to ram this through so fast? They don't want us to discover the real facts and make informed decisions. Even our representatives have no idea what the bill contains and that is why they cannot answer any questions at these public forums. America--WAKE UP!!!

Everyone today wants something for nothing--guess what? They will find a poison carrot at the end of that stick the government is holding out to tempt you!

Hello 18822,

I think you hit the nail on the head. Most folks don't realize how poor their coverage really is when you get down to the nitty gritty. This is the same problem with the current reform. My God, over a thousand pages, and it doesn't even get specifc! Why do we need to be so "wordy" and still leave so much to legal interpretation?

I like to follow what I call "KISS" philosophy. Keep It Simple Stupid. We need someone to write up a health care reform bill that can keep things in perspective, so that any fool can make some sense out of it.

Throw out the red tape, and use some common sense. Then maybe everyone would not be so apprhensive about something they could actually understand.

Geez!

Thank you for the link to download the HCPlan. I dont think we have to worry about this bill passing, as Hillery Clinton tried to get almost the same Health Care plan passed when Bill was POTUSA. People need to look beyond the SMOKESCREEN of Health Reform and see what is REALLY behind the jib-jab and I think you will find "Cap & Trade"plan will cover more than most people realize.

I would like to add that Medicare is NOT FREE its been paid for in ADVANCE by everyone who has paid Income Tax and have retired. There aint nothing FREE in this life, but Salvation through Jesus Christ but most people dont want anything thats really free. They just want a Free Ride and when its over then they have no use for you.

Great letter. ABC.com reports that the president "misspoke" (imagine that) about AARP endorsing the healthcare reform bill. This was also reported by other media.
Below is a summary taken directly from the FactCheck.org (Annenberg Public Policy Center) which is one of the sites recommended by the AARP site as nonpartisan.
Abortion: Which Side Is Fabricating? Will health care legislation mean "government funding of abortion"?
President Obama said Wednesday that’s "not true" and among several "fabrications" being spread by "people who are bearing false witness." But abortion foes say it’s the president who’s making a false claim. "President Obama today brazenly misrepresented the abortion-related component" of health care legislation, said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee. So which side is right?
The truth is that bills now before Congress don’t require federal money to be used for supporting abortion coverage. So the president is right to that limited extent. But it’s equally true that House and Senate legislation would allow a new "public" insurance plan to cover abortions, despite language added to the House bill that technically forbids using public funds to pay for them. Obama has said in the past that "reproductive services" would be covered by his public plan, so it’s likely that any new federal insurance plan would cover abortion unless Congress expressly prohibits that. Low- and moderate-income persons who would choose the "public plan" would qualify for federal subsidies to purchase it. Private plans that cover abortion also could be purchased with the help of federal subsidies. Therefore, we judge that the president goes too far when he calls the statements that government would be funding abortions "fabrications."

william99: you are so right and it's not only health care. They are also after free speech and our second amendment rights. I just pray people of all parties are waking up to what the weasels in this administration are attempting to do to this country. I don't care which party you belong to. If we were to lose our freedom of speech or our right to bear arms, the America that I love will be gone. Obama has surrounded himself with pure self avowed communist as some of his so called czars and not one news organization has questioned or called his hand on it. Ted Kennedy also died today. I feel for his family, but I never liked him at any time. He was a murderer as far as I'm concerned, but the news media will make him out to be a great man and Obama will use his death to further his traitorious agenda.

Thank you Mr. Hinson for a very well written article. The problem in this country is that people can't read and comprehend what they read. This bill and the others like it are aiming for a complete takeover of our lives. This bill does not provide for FREE care like so many people think it does. It comes with a very high price tag. And the AARP was for this bill before they were against it. ( Wonder where we heard that from before?) Depends on who you talk to. The entire Obama administration speaks out of both sides of its mouth. The people of this country need to wake up and start being responsible for themselves.

rgodwin needs to explain how he thinks the current administration is trying to take away free speech & 2nd amendment rights. Be specific. Then tell who you think are the "pure self avowed communist "s that are surrounding President Obama. Give names.

I have read the bill, (it really isn't all that hard) how ever it is only one of the 5 proposed bills. It is the one that has made it out of committee, although once the others come out of their respective committees they will have to be reconciled into one proposal to be sent to the senate for passage.
So there is no way to know exactly what is going to be in the final bill.
You say you were in the insurance business, I have questions of you.
As a 9 year survivor of ovarian cancer, can I get insurance through YOUR company, that is affordable and would cover a recurrance? Can my 4 year old diabetic granddaughter get covered through your company and be covered for any complications that her diabetes may cause?
If the answer to any of these questions is no, then I can't help but wonder if you are merely serving your corporate masters and protecting their behinds while Americans die for the lack of affordable health care.
Now can we have health care reform?

Harry,
I have not read all of the posts, but most of them. I would like to say "thank you" for your hard work and effort in trying to evaluate the 1081 pages of the health care reform. You are a true American and I applaud you for trying to keep the people informed. As far as Estragon....evidently her Estrogen has gon. Keep up the excellent voice for us and dont be distracted by the racist biggots of estrogen...thank you again

Bluebelle, Harry ran a life insurance office. He had nothing to do with health insurance. You may remember him from when he was on the city council. He was mentally off the reservation back then and has not found his way back yet. He and his wife are well cared for as health coverage goes. Harry has always been a windbag and will never change.

bluebelle51
please read priop posts. he said he "use to work for an insurance company" no longer does. He is retired. He only worked for the insurance company and didnt make up the rules. He was trying to make a living like the rest of us. With the exception of those with a hand sticking out for the money that Obama has promised them. Trust me, they will get better health care than you or I will.

Bluebelle51 makes a good point when posting "So, there is no way to know exactly what is going to be in the final bill". No kidding. The lack of specifics (and we have no reason to believe there will be specifics) in ObamaCare should concern all Americans.

Now, can we take the time to think this through to make sure health care reform will not bankrupt our nation and we don't lose the ability to have choices?

You know andalusiainquirer, if I were an overly sensitive Native American descendant I might be offended by your "off the reservation" remark especially since you like to call other people racist. But, because I'm a NA descendant who is not overly sensitive and I really hate all the PC talk rules, I'll just let it go. Heck, I don't even mind "Indian".

andalusiainquirer: 1. Obama wants to bring back the fairness doctrine which will in the end stifle free speech, because advertisers will not buy air time for liberal talk radio and station owners will not keep a program that doesn't make money. He would not legally be allowed to keep the profitable conservative show unless he also kept the liberal puke show that he was losing money on. He would then cancel them both for some other entertainment he could make a profit with and that is one way they would stifle free speech. If they can shut up poweful media voices, don't you think the average person will be afraid to voice their opinions. Obama says he's not for bringing the fairness doctrine back, but if you believe that I have some nice swamp land for sale in the Arizona dessert. cheap
2. Our second amendment rights are being threatened by the HR45 gun bill and Lord knows what else we don't even know about yet. These people are about control of every American, so don't think for a second that they intend for us to have guns.
3. Van Jones is the one I was specifically talking about. he now says he's not a communist, but he's nothing more than a left wing extremest community organizer just like Obama. Obama has surrounded himself with left wing radicals.

To me this is no longer a democrat or republican issue. This is either you love America and want to see it be once again the great Nation it has always been or you're going to stick your head in the sand and let people who hate our country take it over. As republicans and democrats, we have always had differences in opinions, but this is the first time in my lifetime that I honestly believe that we have a President and congress that are hell bent on destroying our constitution and our American way of life. I pray that we don't let it happen! God Bless America!!!!

We can never be a great nation as long as we allow the insurance companies to dictate who lives and who dies.
Now can we have health care reform?

Posted by rgodwin (anonymous) on August 26, 2009 at 11:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I wish to goodness that every one of you that wants Obama care had it. If I could fix it to where you had it and the rest of us didn't have to have it, I'd do it in one second with the exception that you could never complain or get rid of it. It's amazing to me that you want something and have no idea what you're going to have when you get it because there is no final bill. This is all smoke and mirrors and Obama and the Democrat congress is blowing the smoke up you butts!

I myself do not want someone else suffering for me and I wish everyone who wants affordable health care had it, that either needs it or willing to work to pay for it, but it is not a right any more than having a new home is a right. We are all going to die at some point and the best health care in the world will never change that. The bible says that "It is appointed once for men to die, but after this the judgment."...Hebrews 9:27 I had much rather know my life was right with the Lord when that day comes, than to know I had health care, especially if it's Obama care, but then that's just my opinion.

I do not believe for one minute that no one will dictate who lives and dies under ObamaCare. I have previously posted about Oregon lung cancer patient Barbara Wagner. Not only was she denied the chemo drug prescribed by her oncologists, she got an unsigned letter in the mail informing her of the decision. The state of Oregon refused to provide the $4000 dollar a month drug, but was happy to pay 50 dollars for the "death with dignity" drugs. How compassionate.

He was spouting the same kind of psychcobabble about how healthcare is going take over our lives and the government is going to take our speech and 2nd amendment rights away. i rgodwin had a clue as to what the fairness doctrine was about he would be making a foll oute of himself running his mouth about what he dosn't knoqw anything about. It has nothing to do witrh an individuals free speech rights, it means that broadcasters will have to be fair and balance like Fox claims to be when they are not,

Although much is said about care for the elderly and children, not much is said about neonatal care. How much money do you think ObamaCare will spend to keep a premature baby alive? Stats from Pediatrics in Review ( 1996) show that the average costs for premies (gestation between 24 wks and 32 wks) to be $49,457 for a 49 day stay. This does not include ancillary care costs. The length of stay has most likely decreased ( it does, of course vary from infant to infant) but the costs have most likely increased. Neonatal care will be capped. After all, Obama has no idea when life begins so maybe life doesn't begin until a panel of bureaucrats says it does.

Liberals desperately want the Fairness Doctrine to be reinstated. They absolutely hate it that conservative talk shows have millions of listeners and every liberal talk show has failed miserably. Why is it that when people complain about the content of network TV shows (nudity, violence, sex, etc) liberals always come back with turn the channel, cancel the cable, don't watch, etc.? I say take your own advice. If you don't like conservative talk radio or any radio for that matter, or any media outlet, don't listen or watch. Here is another question for you. You know how liberals always babble about conservatives just repeating Limbaugh or Hannity and can't think for themselves? How do liberals know what conservatives are saying? Libs are either (1)listening themselves (2) repeating what some other liberal is saying b/c they are listening or (3) making it up.
Now, can we take our time and have health care reform that doesn't send our nation into bankruptcy and take away our ability to make choices?

"That which you do for the least among you, you also do for me"
I am amazed at the people who quote the bible and don't recognize that Jesus (among others) was telling us to take care of each other. Americans are DYING!!! You sit here and swabble about gun rights, while leukemia patients are denied the life giving drugs they need to survive, you complain about communism while patients with traumatic brain injuries are thrown out of their hospital beds and sent home with no hope of getting the physical therapy they need to FEED themselves.
Who owns you now, what insurance bureaucrat is going to ration YOUR health care.
Rationing is happening all around you, only now it is based on income. We have a moral obligation to make it cease to exist.
The CEO's of the 3 major insurance companies are making $100,000 an HOUR, while your premiums go up to keep them safely in their tax bracket. At the same time they are paying people to throw you out of your plan if you get sick with something that is too expensive to treat.
As for Mr. Hinson's line of work, he claims in the letter that he worked in the "Life and Health insurance business". If he only worked in the Life Insurance field, he is attempting to gain credence for his diatribe through deception by claiming he also worked in the health insurance business.
Now can we have health care reform?

Posted by WAtidefan (anonymous) on August 27, 2009 at 3:33 a.m. (Suggest removal)

If we are going to be told stories about brain damaged people being kicked out of hospitals and leukemia patients denied life giving drugs, it is only fair that we know who these people are. Or at least, we should know the identity of the hospitals/clinics/doctors who are responsible.
I identified the patient who was denied chemo drugs by state health care in Oregon. Now, who are these people?
Health care will be rationed! Make no mistake about it. Can you, BlueBelle 51, or anyone else absolutely know that a government run plan will be any better?
Again, over and over I have said that reform is needed. No one posting here denies that. But, that doesn't mean that what the dems are attempting to put into law is the best for Americans.

andalusiainquirer: I think my post at 11:28 last night more than proves I know what I'm talking about with the fairness doctrine. That is exactly why I said if they can legally shut up conservative talk radio theN the average citizen will be afraid to voice their opinion and they had better be because they will be next.
I also have never heard of this Kevin Dehoney guy, that you spoke of. You can spout off anything you want about me and about what you think you know about me, but the truth is that you are both ignorant and uncaring about what is truly happening to your own country and the large majority of the people who read your post know it.

Bluebelle51: the bible also says that the Lord helps those who help themselves and I will always continue to squabble about free speech and our second amendment rights and you had better hope and pray that we always have them. We are taxed to death in this country by our government and the waste in government would more than pay for health care for those that truly need it. Every dime that is put in the United Nations is a total waste and every dime that is sent to countries that hate our guts is also wasted. You liberals never want to hold government responsible, you had much rather blame hard working Americans for the failures of government. I still tell you that the liberals in congress love the Obama plan, as long as they or their families aren't on it. Wake up America!

I've stated before that I like others would love to see honest health care reform, but there is nothing honest about Obama and the left wing liberal congress and there will be nothing honest about Obama care!

Posted by ToldYouSo (anonymous) on August 27, 2009 at 8:55 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Bottom line: No one knows what the final bill will say and so how can one defend it?? Secondly, "thinking people" know that total government control was put on "fast track" when obama was elected. The last leadership was also guilty of leading us down that path. Remember the Patriot Act and massive debt? The liberal (socialistic) New York media wants total control and are now speeding towards that goal. Awake and be aware.

Someone will ultimately always decides if a poor person will get their treatment paid for or not. Whether it shall be the total responsibility of the government, the insurance companies with government regulations, or completely up to the mercy of the insurance companies (as it pretty much is now). The person receiving the healthcare and that person's family will always want to as much as possible to save their life. If it's a million dollar procedure, hey let's try it, it's better than the alternative. People with millions to spend don't need someone to approve anything, they can just spend what they wish. For the majority of us however, it will always come down to someone ultimately deciding what will get funded and what will not get funded. Do you want the crooked politicians in Washington deciding your fate, or the crooked CEO's of the insurance companies deciding your fate. It's really a no win situation.

Many conservatives do not trust the current administration, and it really wouldn't matter if the bill was to pay for healthcare for dying orphans. The trust is not there, and will probably never be there. It doesn't help the cause when a bill is vaguely stated in over 1,000 pages. A calculus text barely comes in at a 1,000 pages, and it's a topic that's been around for over 300 years. Most folks don't comprehend it, and certainly wouldn't trust the idiots that make up congress to comprehend it. At least however it does get fairly specific, which is something the healthcare bill fails to do.

Every thing th Obama is doing is a attempt to unscrew a screwed up situation that the Bush crowd left behind. Bush ran up a deficit greater that all the 43 presidents before him combined. Obamas expenditures to bail out banks, auto companies and the stimulus plan are but a small fraction of what bush spent. Also Bush was the first president to borrow from foreign countries, which wasafter he wiped out the surplus Clinton left behind.

Of course people like toldyouso and rgodwin love to lanmbast Obama with all kinds of names but can't seem to understand that ethqe big corporations aaere screwing us left and fight every day while paying people to invade the media daily with absurd talking points which they in turn spew on the comments section of this paper.

andalusiainquirer, you are no better than the ones blasting Obama. You are doing the same to Bush. Where did you get your facts about Bush? MSNBC or maybe from Nancy Pelosi? The Bush administration started to sour when the Democrats took control of Congress, but he also did nothing to help. In a time of war, sometimes extreme steps are needed to protect this country. There was not another attack on the US during the Bush administration after 9/11. You had also better look at the facts on who is now running up the deficit at a record pace. Clinton left a surplus behind because of the policies set forth by the Republican controlled Congress. Small businesses hire the most people for work but can not hire when they are taxed to death. Obama is no better than Bush. I also will agree that I do not like the large Corparations no better than you and I think there needs to be Healthcare reform along with TORT reform but no socialistic Government control. By the way, I do not like Bush nor Obama and I do not hold allegience to any Party.

I would gladly get out and help raise money for your plane ticket and I'm sure others would too. You are a total embarrassment to anyone with half a brain. Our economy started going south in 2006, just as soon as democrats took over congress. I will admit that the republican congress started acting just like democrats by letting spending get out of hand and that's why they lost both houses, but our economy was thriving until your people took over.

MoreCowBell: you are so right about corporations and the amount of unemployment if they go under. I know that there are people who make unheard of amounts of money, but that is just the free market system. When Obama can tell them what they can make, he will have destroyed the free market system and he will then be able to tell each of us what we will and can make. Who is going to have any motivation to invent or reach for higher goals if their reward is limited by government?

Winkie: "Pray for our country". This reminded me of the question I have asked:
How is it we can easily SEE the lies and the end results of these 'progroms' of the Progressive leftists, and they cannot SEE them.

My answer came from the French CRC: it is "the fact that prayer has slowly departed from and then disappeared from human lips. "God is dead", but His death has led to the death of man!

"There is a 2 fold link of cause and effect between this religious apostasy and the decadence of the world. A society without religion is ungovernable and unlivable; IT WILL BE GIVEN OVER TO ALIEN INFLUENCES, TO THE MOST PERNICIOUS THOUGHTS AND TO THE TYRANNICAL PASSIONS OF ITS MEMBERS. When religion falls, so does its civilization..." and:
"He who does not pray to and does not serve Him is not entitled to His blessings." (Abbe de Nantes, CRC)

The answer to my question then is 'the curse of blindness' for those who deny, ignore and blaspheme God, and refuse to include Him in their affairs.

Bluebell51 said, "We can never be a great nation as long as we allow the insurance companies to dictate who lives and who dies".

We were a great nation long before any entitlement programs existed much less insurance companies. Therefore, I will rephrase your previous statement to read "we will cease to be a great nation if we allow our government to dictate and control everything in our lives". There, that makes much more sense.

Blindness is a terrible curse, and if I'm not mistaken it's the curse on unbelievers during the latter days. Poor, poor beings. They're proudly stuck in the mud, don't want to get out of it and want to take us down with them.

If the lack of prayer and DENIAL of God is the reason for our atheist politics and all the chaos we're facing - we must increase our prayers, devotions and fastings. That's what saved Ninnevah in the days of Jeremias.
We don't want to be like Abraham who was unable to find the ten just men in order to save Sodom and Gomorrha.

Economy has nothing to do with who's in congress, who the president is/was/going to be. Economy is a more or less living breathing entity independent of the goobers in congress or in the whitehouse.

Shamrock, why are we attacking bloggers that haven't even blogged on this blog?

Does anyone have an idea how they would reform healthcare, if the burden was suddenly cast upon them? It's usually easier to criticize than to actually come up with solutions that work. Every man for himself? Why even bother with insurance at all? Just pay as you go, and let the strongest survive. Wash the Doctors car every Saturday, that might help out with the costs? What's your health care reform plan?

Part 1 Winkie: I found that info on the Obama "Town Hall" Meeting in Belgrade, Montana. I'll shorten it as best I can.

By: Sue Citizen:
"On Wed. August 5th it was announced locally that the Pres. would be coming here. There are many groups here that are against his healthcare and huge spending...The White House would not release ANY details other than the date.

The following Tues. Joe found out they would be holding the "Town Hall" at the AIRPORT. Our airport is actually located outside of Belgrade in a very remote location. They chose to use a hangar that is the more remotely located hangar. You cannot get to it easily...totally secluded from the public. In Belgrade we have gyms/auditoriums chairs, tables, for a large amount of folks with sufficient parking.

During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped in constantly...it just kept coming. ($$$$)

Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a local printing shop per White House request. 900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.

This same morning the local UPS branch said that THOUSANDS of dollars of Lobster were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the nation! And it would have been wonderful to help out the local economy. Just think..all of the traveling and $$$$ spent we are paying for.

On Friday the groups to protest had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Imployees International Union) members drove up onto the area and unloaded right there.
This caused a commotion and 2 SEIU men tried to start a fight. Police arrested one man but they did not have the man power to remove the SEIU crowd.

Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation...but the SEIU kept coming over and walking through, intimidating and aggressive at the dirction of the one SEIU man.

Posted by Shamrock (anonymous) on August 27, 2009 at 5:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Part Two:
We had Montana folks from all over the state with their homemade signs...the major networks were over by that remote hangar. They were parked on the other side far from us. None of the crowds were visible to them.

Local news media was there, but all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance of the event. This was totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down to the last detail to make it appear that Montana was crazy for Obama and gov. healthcare. EVERYTHING WAS STAGED!

I am very dismayed about what I learned about our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America, more like the USSR!! I was physically nauseous. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your prayers and your voices.

If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC. Scary!!"

Something similar to this happened recently in Panama City, Fla..

rgodwin: The economy is a world wide phenomenon that crosses all countries, not just the USA and the politics in house. The current economic downturn is worldwide, and while the US is definitely a major player in the world economy, it's not the only player. The same thing happened in the Great Depression, as it was not limited to the US economy only, it was a world wide event. Trade slowed down everywhere.

Economy is effected somewhat by government regulations, but by far it has its own personality. There are up cycles and down cycles, and while the government likes to think they can control the economy, they can not. There are many more factors that play in the game of economics, and the government is just basically watching the water roll under the bridge. There are some things the government can do that can aid or restrict trade one way or the other, but the government can't make its citizens all millionaires.

Take a look at you Dow Jones average through the years since the Great Depression. It went through cycles regardless who controlled congress, or who was in the hot seat in the White House. Up cycles and down cycles regardless of which goobers were in Washington. It's always been silly to me for one political party to blame the other for economic downtimes. Someone might blame Bush for causing Katrina, but Hurricanes don't give a darn who's in the White House. Similarly, the economy does its own thing.

Congress needs to concentrate on these points and stop coverage for illegals....voila...... Health Care Reform!!

Bickering over communism, marxism, socialism, who is and who isn't while stepping over the bodies of dying Americans.
Sad isn't it.
People are dying, people you know and love could be next, but argue over the price of tea in China, or maybe about the national debt in China, since they own most of our debt.
80 percent of the bankruptsy filings in this country are filed to service medical debts, 60 percent of those are from people who have insurance.
That means people are losing their homes, credit, savings while they HAVE health insurance.
Most neo-natal care could have been prevented if there had been proper pre-natal care, meaning $1000's could be saved and much suffering avoided.
We rank 27th in infant mortality because pregnant mothers aren't getting the care they need.
We rank 15th in overall quality of care because people aren't getting cared for after they become ill.
We rank 20th in maternal deaths, 19th in life expectancy
and the list goes on.
Shouldn't we be more concerned about the travesty that exists in the current system and quit whining about all the "isms" out there?
Now can we have health care reform?

We have surpassed every nation in existence in everything long before we were 200 years old and we are the most generous nation on earth. The reason we are the greatest is because of our constitution which Obama is trying to destroy. I hope and pray that Obama care fails and everything else he attempts fails, if it destroys American freedoms. We use to be one nation under God until we got complacent and let people like you slip into government. I'd be shocked to find out that you'd ever had an original thought. Liberal thinking like yours is why our nation is in the shape it's in today. Government can not nor is it suppose to be all things to all people, but the bunch we have in there now and no different than kim jong il, because they want the same kind of control over the American people as he does over his people. You act just like if everybody had Obama care that no one else would ever die. If our nation goes under because of "The One" and his policies, you will see even more death.

Given his background and education (which he has disclosed in his postings), the idea of him going around calling people Communists and extreme left wing liberals who hate America is a joke.

I agree with AndalusiaInquirer. Mr. Hinson's analysis of HR 3200 is lame. It was taken from talking points prepared by lobbying firms for the health insurance industry and then dutifully forwarded around the internet by the storm troopers of the Christian right. Not an original thought in the Letter.

According to doctor Richard Schwarz OB/GYN specializing in high risk pregnancy most premature births result from spontaneous preterm labor and about half the time the doctor can not determine the cause. The body's natural response to certain bacterial infections, such as those of the uterus may play a role. However, most women have no symptoms of uterine infections. Lack of prenatal care is not the leading cause.
40% of all Americans already have insurance provided by the government. Medicare, medicaid, SCHIP, etc. According to HRSA, in 2008 more than 17 million people in America's most needy communities received free or low cost health care including prenatal care at health centers .
This is copied directly from the HRSA website. Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford, based on your income. Health centers provide:
1. checkups when you're well 2. treatment when you're sick
3. complete care when you're pregnant 4. immunizations and checkups for your children 5. dental care and prescription drugs for your family 6. mental health and substance abuse care if you need it.
I am going to take the liberty to borrow part of a post by LoyalAmerican (welcome back, BTW), Congress can address the following (1) un-insurability (2) catastrophic illness (3) affordability and (4) free care for illegals without this monstrosity of ObamaCare.

I don't know you, rgodwin or anyone else on this blog. However, I do know what you have admitted to in print, detailing what you have done by running a credit check on an individual (when it is apparent you were not given permission nor requested to do so) reeks of invasion of privacy issues! You have an arrogance that is very troubling. You are a dichotomy of liberalism. Nothing makes sense. Your type devours the speeches or books that point out the bad conditions in America. You pat yourself on the back for your "progressive attitudes". Regrettably you do not have a source where you listen or read, that questions your own motives for those attitudes! You pat and dandle the ones you feel suffer social injustice, but you really don't care to make a difference. Are you simply addicted to having a superiorty complex? You offer up hate filled remarks with no moral barometer. Much of what you write is most unattractive to your own cause! If you want to dismiss someone for not having an original thought, dismiss yourself. You spew forth talking points you grasp from Chris Mathews-like liberals and the satirical "comics" you have referenced previously. You always criticize others for the very things you do and say. You call people bigots and racists, but by your own words you are defined as such. If you want to have a smack down with another blogger, send a private email. Keep this medium for the exchange of ideas, information and inspiration. Gutter remarks and smears have no place in this forum!

If it is so valuable to know personal information about a "blogger" in order to evaluate opinions give your personal information. Your full name, your address, your phone numbers, etc. After all, I want to be fair in my evaluation of your views and opinions. I have questioned you before about why you want to know personal information about conservatives. You have shown just how intolerant and hateful you are by your words. You have the nerve to call me names. You have the nerve to call me and people like me worthless. That is the difference between me and you. I can evaluate by the smell in the air whether or not a skunk is close by. I do not need to SEE the skunk. With the same ability I can evaluate a blogger by their words alone! I do not need to KNOW the blogger to determine their knowledge, skills or temperament. Their words tell their story!

I keep seeing writings complaining about our freedoms being lost.
Pray do tell, which freedom exactly are you speaking of?
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? I haven't seen those endangered, I watch C-span, and keep up with the news from many varied sources. However I have watched people I care about die from undianosed cancers, because they could not afford to go to the doctor. I haven't been able to get follow up care for ovarian cancer because I can't get insurance and I can't afford the tests.
My best friend died at the age of 44 from heart disease that was treatable because she couldn't afford to stay in a hospital.
My brother in law was dumped by his insurance company when he had cancer.
People you see every day are in trouble, yet you prefer to complain about bloggers, and Obama, and Fox news or MSNBC or Jacko.
While the rhetoric heats up and every one gets distracted by nasty comments to each other, I don't have the luxury of indulging myself in that. I'm busy trying to find affordable health care that would cover a recurrence of ovarian cancer. It does not exist.
Now can we have health care reform?

We just need to elect God fearing leaders who believe in it and do everything possible to see that we are governed by it. Every state should send their most passionate and most freedom loving individuals to Washington as their representatives. It should not be a popularity contest or because someone has money. It takes someone who really loves his country to be able to represent its people the way they should, but it's bad to say, that is not the case most of the time. rgodwin: Our representatives have lost their way. Rather than representing the people, they have become self serving, power hungry, homesteaders. It is a travesty when the same person returns to congress, election after election! The media has concerned itself with the minutia of ones life when they run for office, therefore eliminating some really good people. No one wants to have their family scrutinized and vilified. It truly does not matter to me if someone had a drinking binge at age 18 or they were sent to the principal for cheating at age 10. I remember a thing or two I did as a youngster that caused me some serious heartache (and behind ache) but those infractions do not identify my character as an adult. What does matter as an adult, is how has your character been built. Were lessons learned from the consequences of binge drinking? Was a lesson learned regarding the importance of relying on ones own knowledge, rather than believing another knew more? All these lessons are character builders. I would rather have 535 "Joe the Plumbers" serving 2 terms in congress, than any homesteader now in DC. A Joe the Plumber type, comes closer to understanding the plight of the average American, rather than the millionaire career-legislator. They are insulated and out of touch with the heartbeat of Americans! But ordinary citizens will never be part of the 535. The media is more intent on character assassination and destroying good people. And for this America suffers!
God Bless America!

The elderly who end up from the nursing homes to the hospitals and never return to the homes, because they have been EUTHANIZED! Euthanized! ordered by a physician who has decided that person would be better off dead. They stop their nutrition, medicines and HYDRATION!

Don't believe it? It is happening just 1 hour south of here in the Crestview, Fla. hospital. If the elder person does not have an ADVOCATE to be by their side in the hospital that speaks up for their loved one...this is what happens more times than not.

Belle, an ADVOCATE will be useless when your health reform becomes the law. Once you hit that certain age, you will lose ALL THE FREEDOMS YOU NOW ENJOY!

You always end your posts with "Now can we have health care reform". You are asking the wrong group this question. Why don't you take a stand in DC or with your representatives? Bloggers can not give you the reform you tiresomely request. Your redundant question has lost its effect and needs to be redirected to policy makers. However, the type of reform on the table is going to, in all probability, make health care less available to you. This is why bloggers are letting off steam, but we can not help you with reform. Ask Obama, he has all the answers liberals need. You wrote in one post an implication of "stepping over the bodies of dying Americans". Do you not think your words a bit dramatic? I don't know what part of America you reside, but I have not seen anyone stepping over another human in my part of the world. Health care reform will not stop people from dying. As long as you are willing to allow health insurance corporations to maim and kill people you are (metaphorically) stepping over their maimed and dying bodies.

In the original Hyde amendment, no abortions were funded with federal funding. In 1977 language was added to permit funding in cases on rape, incest or the life of the mother. According to the annual report from Planned Parenthood for 2008, this organization received close to $350 million from government grants and contracts. This same report shows that PP performed more than 305,000 abortions. PP is under investigation for alleged fraudulent use of Title X funding in several states (among other things). Obama lifted the ban that prevents US money from funding international family-planning facilities that promote abortion. So, it seems, federal funds can be and are used for abortion. Association Press reported a few weeks ago the H.R. 3200 absolutely contains language that could circumvent the Hyde Amendment.
The bottom line for healthcare is money. We are constantly bombarded with stories of cancelled insurance, health care refused, etc. And at the same time, we are expected to believe that when the government is in control every person will get total care with no questions asked. How naive it is to believe this. As it has been said several times: someone will make decisions on treatment and life and death.

WAtidefan: Thank you for posting great info! Is it not amazing how citizens are informed on actual bills/amendments that are in existence; but are totally bereft of knowledge regarding the actual content of said bill/amendment? Knowledge of the Hyde Amendment is out there, but many do not know that there was an amendment to the amendment 32 years ago! This is yet another symptom of what ails America. Citizens simply do not keep abreast of what DC is doing! Perhaps ignorance IS bliss!

Posted by Bluebelle51 (anonymous) on August 28, 2009 at 3:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Planned parenthood gets Title X funding for education. They offer adult and adolecent education in the prevention of sexually transmitted disease and pregnancy. They offer low cost treatment for some disease and some prenatal care. As for the international family planning funding, the policy removed the restriction of abstinence only education. Meaning now the family planning groups can explain how to use a condom, what other types of birth control are available. Just because someone explains abortion as an option does not mean that a woman will make that her choice. Also the funding that family planning groups now receive are aimed at preventing unwanted pregnancy in the first place, so that the overall number of women seeking abortion is reduced. After all people who aren't pregnant never seek an abortion.
I have read the health care reform bill that has come out of committee, (none of the other mark-ups are available yet) and there isn't any language there that would circumvent the Hyde amendment. There isn't any language that would allow for abortion. It's another red herring. Or at least another spider swatted down.
Now can we have health care reform?

Posted by rgodwin (anonymous) on August 28, 2009 at 3:56 p.m. (Suggest removal)

There is no doubt in my mind that congress will pass something calling it health care reform before this is all over. The thing is that the language will change to convince some to vote for it and there may be another thousand pages added to make it even more difficult to understand, but the true content of the bill never will change. I just hope the republicans don't cave and vote for it. We must never forget that this has nothing to do with health care and everything to do about control of the American people. We need to make an all out effort to take every seat possible away from these liberals in congress in 2010.

Bluebelle51: You are correct in saying, "people who aren't pregnant never seek abortion." Also, people who are not sexually active never seek abortions either. You left out that Planned Parenthood does offer abortions along with condoms and "sex education". I think the latter two are chats held after the horse has left the gate! The best plan for preventing unwanted pregnancy is to abstain from sex! What a novel idea!! The Hyde Amendment does allow funds funneled to Medicaid for abortions. There is no NEED for the health care reform bill to circumvent or neutralize anything in the Hyde Amendment.....abortions are already funded! No red herring.....just fact!
Now, do the right thing and antagonize your representatives!

Posted by WAtidefan (anonymous) on August 28, 2009 at 4:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I repeat: PP is under investigation for misuse of funds. Please do not expect me to believe that an abortion would not be provided to a client who could not pay. It has been documented that many clinics have deliberately failed to report victims of child-rape and have encouraged girls to lie about age to get an abortion. The Tennessee legislature revoked Title X funds from state PPs due to violations of state law. In July of this year, Alabama State Attorney General Troy King announced an investigation into PP.
You state that there isn't any language that would allow for abortion. AP writer Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar disagrees with you and so does Factcheck.org.

When I was about six, my parents told me that I could no longer visit in the house across the street where two best buddies lived.
We could play outside and they could come in my house but not theirs. Years later I asked my father why. He said that their mother was doing abortions. He went on to describe how she did this. It seems she used coat hangers and knitting needles. How ghastly.

When I was in high school I began to notice that on the way to my grandfather house we would travel down US 31 and across the Conecuh River. The third house on the lefet drew my interest. On Saturday mornings there would be cars everywhere - cars with Alabama, Florida and Mississippi tags. There was a small building in the back yard, always with a crowd of folks standing around. I later asked what this was all about. I was told that it was an abortion clinic.

Roe v. Wade put an end to illegal abortion mills. They are now performed under medical supervision. No more coat hangers or crude clinics far away from hospitals to care for a woman when a procedure goes awry.

Abortions were going on long before Roe v Wade and they are still going on. The difference is that they are being preformed under medical supervision in clean, sanitary facilities. For those of you, who are mainly men would will never have a need for an abortion yourselves, who can't deal with the reality that people are always going to have sex and sometimes cause a pregancy, well....you need to get over it.

Another thing while I am at, Terry Randall and all his cronies who incite people to kill abortion doctors and blowup clinics, like they did across from my sisters' apartment in Norfork in 82, are noting but plain criminals.

I have no tolerance whatsoever for maniacs who bomb abortion clinics or murder abortion doctors. They are criminals. I have no tolerance whatsoever for abortion clinics or abortion doctors. They are criminals. We have laws to protect animals from abuse, and rightly so. Yet there are those who condone piercing the skull of a viable infant, who should be in the safety of their mothers womb, sucking out brain matter and discarding the body of the baby in a trash can. Or suctioning a baby from the womb and having arms, hands, feet, legs and head disconnected from the torso. Just because two people decide to have sex, should be no reason for a human to have to give up their right to life!

If you can not counter posts with substance, you go into the personal attack mode. This forum is not designed for personal vendetta's nor is it a mechanism for settling old scores. If anyone says something you do not agree with, then state your beliefs in an intelligent manner or defer to another blogger if you can't trust yourself to maintain proper decorum. Everyone is entitled to their opinion; that means not only your opinion, but my opinion also. This blog serves only to vent steam. In the end, your opinion and mine, combined, is worth less than a can of soda! The goverment cant even add the cost of liveing raise on Social Security. Your Mom/Dad or maybe even you will be affected, especially if they pass the Cap / Trade Bill. Where will the money come from to pay for this New out of control health care reform? Will someone 'please' tell me where it's going to come from???

Perhaps some of the liberals commenting here can explain this for me. Liberals claim to the ones championing the cause of the underdogs. The poor, the disenfranchised, the minorities are all the concerns of liberals while the conservatives are the racists, the haters, etc. If this is true, why do liberals support the killing of an average of 1,876 black babies per day? PP is the largest provider of abortions in the United States. PP was founded by Margaret Sanger a devout racist who said "colored people are weeds that need to be exterminated". She had a eugenic plan called the Negro Project that was intended to help purify America.
According to the CDC, since 1973 the approximate number of African American deaths from abortion is 13 million. The second largest cause of death is heart disease (2,266,789). Frankly, this sickens me. Were there abortions before Roe v Wade? Sure there were. Would there be abortions if Row v Wade was struck down? Yes, sadly there would be.
If PP is doing such a stellar job of educating young women and providing them with free birth control, why are so many of them having abortions?

What I want to know is whether rgodwin is posting ad infinitum on this blog in his individual capacity, or in his role as a member of ResistNet.com? ResistNet.com is an affiliate of Grassfire.org, that was formed to start a blitzkrieg of fear mongering and misinformation against President-elect Barack Obama. The money behind Grassfire.org and ResistNet.com is murky, but there have been connections to a Washington, D.C. lobbying firm known as Shirley & Banister Public Affairs. The "Shirley" of Shirley & Banister is Craig Shirley, the Republican operative who came up with the racist Willie Horton ad. You can read about Grassfire.org here: http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?tit...

It has often been said that democracy in America did not begin in 1776 with the signing of the Declaration of Independence, nor in 1789 with the adoption of the Constitution, but in 1801 when President Adams who was defeated for reelection by Thomas Jefferson in the election of 1800, voluntarily turned over the office of Presidency and became the loyal opposition. Our democracy has survived because of a 2-party system where the losing party accepts defeat and hands over the reigns of power to the victor, thereby providing stability to our democratic process. This gentleman's agreement broke down when President Clinton was elected. Rather than Clinton's election, radical Republicans sought to undermine the 1992 and 1996 elections by generating fake scandals, investigations into every aspect of his personal life, and finally impeachment. We are witnessing this again with the election of President Obama. Only worse, and with more hatred and vitriol. Groups like the ResistNet.com are in my opinion nothing more than domestic terrorists, determined to undermine the outcome of our democratic process.

R.G., your man and your party lost in 2008. Get over it. Stop trying to overthrow the election of President Obama with these vicious "blitzkriegs" of lies and misinformation. And, pay some attention to your work. As OtelcoBoss so wisely advised you, employees who blog on company time are likely to find themselves needing health care coverage that isn't employment based.

Estragon: as far as your first paragraph goes, I have no knowledge of the things you were writing about, but the Clinton's were so full of scandals that no one one had to make anything up. I'm surprised that he had any time to actually be President as much cover up that was going on. You are right in that Obama is much worse. Clinton did not hate America, although he did despise the military. The only explanation of why Obama has surrounded himself with radicals is because he hates America. You can also bet that I wasn't excited about John McCain. He may be an American hero, but he is a poor excuse for a republican. The only thing I have to say about him is he back stabs his own party, but I do believe at least, he loves his country. I'm not sure you're not OtelcoBoss yourself and I really don't care, but I've told you before. If you have something personal to say to me, click on my name and send me a message. If there is one thing I like less than a extreme left wing liberal, it's a coward of any kind.

Estragon: Your post of 9:07 may be the single most ridiculous comment I have read on this site.
So, Republicans are to get over the fact that their man and party lost in 2008? Yeah, just like the democrats got over Bush defeating Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004? The very idea that anyone would compare the objections and the protests against Obama to the viscous, violent hatred hurled at Bush, is dumbfounding. I, also have no knowledge of the two organizations you mentioned. The left can have Moveon.org, the Daily Kos, and George Soros donating millions to liberal causes etc. but for goodness sake those conservations better not have any organizations. The most ridiculous part of that post just may well be murky money comment. A supporter of Clinton talks about murky money? And what about the documented credit fraud concerning donations to Obama's campaign? And before you tell me those are anecdotal stories, I personally know someone in Covington County who opened her Visa card bill to find a fraudulent charge of 500 dollars to the Obama campaign.
Isn't it interesting that Nancy Pelosi said that those protesting Bush were patriotic and now thinks those peaceably protesting ObamaCare are un-American? I am waiting for the MSM to do a major story on little Miss Cindy Shehan and her war protest in Martha's Vineyard. I'm not holding my breath while I wait.
Again, your entire post was absurd.

WAtidefan: The political landscape in America is rife with double standards!
Conservatives have: Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity, Fox News, ResistNet and Grassfire (according to our resident lefty)!
Democrats have: Chris Mathews, Soros, Ed Schulz, Bill Maher, Keith O (whatever his name)ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, ACORN, CAPH, MoveOn, Atlantis, ACLU, Concord Coalition, AllAcademic (left wing radical Islamics) and Democratic Underground, plus Obama-Pelosi-Reid-Rangel-Dodd-Emanuel to name a few! So WHY are the lefties crying foul??

I invite everyone to visit ResistNet and Grassfire, then visit the democratic sites I have listed! You will notice a profound difference in the tenor of their message between conservative site and democratic site. Not once have I read the F-bomb dropped on a conservative site. However, the F-bomb is peppered throughout the Democratic Underground site. I am an angry conservative, but the liberals responding on the DU site are rabidly foaming at the mouth haters of whatever is American! The contrast between the two groups is startling!
Herr Estragon: I do not believe conservatives have started a "lightening fast war" of fear mongering and misinformation against prez-elect Obama, as you stated! Grassfire had a following long before the big O was elected! You want to talk about money trails? Here we go again with the pot calling the kettle black! Spend your time wisely and stay on point with your own organizations and dig into MoveOn and ACORN. Now THOSE two groups have done some facinating shucking and jiving with funds and taxpayer dollars!! In closing, Herr Estragon, I believe liberals are more of the blitzkrieg type than conservatives. Their tactics are meant to overwhelm the masses. In blitzkrieg fashion, democrats attempt numerous fronts at once, hoping to befuddle and overpower their perceived enemies!
But, this is not a wise battle plan......review Hitler's play book and learn why!

This kind of conversation always seems to lead to extremes. And all I can think of is that conservatives live in a totally different universe. They seem to be so worried about Socialism when most of their existence in the US is socialistic. Can you imagine what our highway system across this country would be like if it was left in the hands of private corporations? Government (federal, state or local) seems to be doing a pretty good job there. Of course it would also be a very exciting time if the laws governing traffic were created by private enterprise. When we have a police emergency I hope no mercenary thugs come to my house and shoot up all my neighbors. Our cops on on the public payroll and that seems to work very well. Of course that is socialism! And when there is a fire to put out nearby, I am happy the firefighters hired by our socialistic government are there to control things. And the water they use comes from the local socialist government sources free to whomever needs a drink. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about the poor getting water. And who sets the standards for the water quality through out our nation? Not the private sector! And what about sewage? Hmm, dirty rotten socialists at it again. Clean water, clean air, and speaking about air, who keeps all those planes from crashing into each other? Who sets the standards? Who enforces the standards? And those awful public schools and universities is this socialism or what? And I would caution conservatives not to go into public libraries, parks, public buildings because they all smack of the "S" word. And the construction standards used to keep all of our buildings from collapsing on our heads, who sets and enforces those standards? Don't forget that the US has it share of natural disasters that the government is expected to help protect us from and clean up afterwards. So whose afraid of the socialist boogeyperson?

And why should adequate, affordable health care be denied to anyone?

andalusiainquirer: Speaking of alternate universe...you qualify! Your post was about as convoluted as one could possibly imagine! If you still love gov't ownership of everything and you have no right to personal property and you have no right to own a business, then Yippee Skippee, socialism is for you!

so·cial·ism
1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

To you all that post so definitively with truth and patience as your guide, I, for one, thank you very much.

If I may confess: I no longer care for the word abortion. It has become meaningless, and no longer gives its once visual horror. It is after all GENOCIDE. It is after all DELIBERATE TORTURED MURDER OF A BABY. It is after all THE SCREAM OF A CHILD IN IT'S MOTHER'S WOMB GROWING AND WAITING TO BE BORN.

My Grandaughter called me with her announcement several days ago that she was expecting her first baby, 18 and married. She was so happy! She explained to me that at 6 weeks old her little one was the size of a raspberry and already had fingers and fingernails. At 7 weeks, this child is now the size of a strawberry and has eyelashes!
She said she would tell me next week how her little one is growing.
I was so moved by this grandaughter of ours that I cried and thanked God for his gift to our family.

If this thread is still operational, I will report to you the progress of our grandchild. I am very moved as I write this to you all.

Thank you LoyalAmerican for your excellent post and clear explanations.
Remember conservative friends, liberals live in an alternate universe of revised history and a land where definitions are changed to a meaning that suits their agenda. Remember Clinton's famous line? "It depends on what the definition of IS is". So, socialism is now whatever they say it is. Fortunately, they have not burned all the dictionaries and Obama has not yet taken control of the internet. The truth is, as Mulder used to say, out there. We must continue to seek the truth and proclaim it at every opportunity.

Also for your consideration:
totalitarianism- a political system where the state recognizes no limits to its authority and and does not tolerate parties of differing opinion and exercises control over many aspects of life. Totalitarianism is maintained by the dissemination of propaganda through state-controlled mass media, a single party control of the state, personality cults, economic control, regulation and restriction of free discussion and criticism, use of mass surveillance and use of state terrorism.

excellent posts WAtidefan: Yes and Yes and Yes!

How is it THEY control what the definitions are? Such power from the Enemy of enemies - the Network or evil and propaganda. It must make them feel godlike.
Surveillance and terrorism. But keep in mind they are just Satan's minions - pimps - disposable creatures when their use is no longer needed.

Yes, they are irritating like red ants, but we must feel remorse for them and not hatred. The curse of Blindness is imbedded in them, and 'they know what they are doing'.

Hello my friends, I want to thank you for some great post today. I've been out today and was just catching up. LoyalAmerican, thank you for the great definition of socialism although I'm sure it went right over the heads of the ones it was intended for, but we conservatives both understand and appreciate it.
Anne: congratulations to you, your grandaughter and your whole family. I pray that her pregnancy will go well and she has a perfect little baby.
WATidefan: your totalitarianism explanation was very good also, and this is exactly what this administration wants to do to us.
Shamrock: you are exactly right about what the left is. I wish we could divide this nation in half and put all the liberals on one side and conservatives on the other with and electric fence in between that would fry anyone who got within 30 feet of it. Within ten to fifteen years we could discharge the fence and take our entire country back, because the liberals would all be dead of starvation by then without working America to feed their sorry behinds.

LoyalAmerican and Anne: it gives me great anguish when I think about what these monsters do to the innocent babies too, but it also gives me great joy to know that God will punish these people in a way that we can't even imagine. I decided a long time ago that these innocent aborted babies have a one way ticket to heaven and they are so much better off than coming into a world where these sorry people who don't want them anyway will either abuse them or drop them in a trash can somewhere. It's like someone said earlier. It's the same people who promote abortion, that scream bloody murder when someone abuses an animal. These people that do this are just evil and morally bankrupt.

LoyalAmerican and all of you dear online Christians, I have an anguish to share with you, as a traditional Roman Catholic.
I apologize to you and all Christians, for the scandal of high profile Catholic politicians who think they "clear their consciences" from their self-excommunications (since their bishops are too intimidated to excommunicate them) on their commitment to ABORTION RIGHTS.

I apologize to you for this dreadful scandal.

We just witnessed Obama giving accolades to Sen. Ted Kennedy for his life's work: "HE GAVE A VOICE TO THOSE WHO WERE UNHEARD"(!) The unheard screams of babies in mother's wombs being torn to pieces, salinized, murdered by butchers who hate NEW LIFE, never heard Kennedy's voice - nor Caroline Kennedy's, Pelosi's, or Joe Biden's. They are no different than Judas and his 30 pieces of booty.

I can only repeat what Jesus wept from His Cross: "FORGIVE THEM FATHER, FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO!"

MAY GOD SAVE OUR CHILDREN FROM THESE VORACIOUS WOLVES IN SHEEPS CLOTHING, FOR HIS GLORY.

Anne: I am not saying this to contradict you, please do not misunderstand. In my opinion, those who support, defend, and promote genocide know exactly what they are doing. It is cold and it is calculated. I am sickened by the thought of it. As angry as some of the liberals make me arguing politics, criticizing Christians, etc. none make me more angry than those who defend the killing of the innocent unborn and support the evil of Planned Parenthood. They are spiritually dead. They have no hope outside the redemptive work of Christ.

rgodwin: I am sure that printing the definition of socialism, as found in Merriam Webster will not sink into the liberal minds on this blog. However, we must relentlessly keep that definition front and center and reference it at every opportunity. Liberals simply are not connecting the dots. They are not looking at this small sliver of data; the take over of GM, Obama bringing an avowed communist, Van Jones, into the whitehouse as an "advisor/green Job czar", Kenneth Feinberg, the arrogant "Pay Czar" who said, "Bank officials, can't run to the Secretary of the Treasury. The officials can't run to the courthouse or local court. MY decision is FINAL!" Obama has all these czar and he uses them as sheepherders. Through their "final decisons", they are rounding us up and closing loopholes that allow freedom. These unvetted czars literally neutralize the Cabinet appointed by Obama and vetted by congress. His cabinet is for show. The real power is in the hands of these so called czars. They are doing Obama's bidding because they answer only to him!! One of the important final stages, for Obama's plan to cement his power, is health care. If he can get control of health care, he can create HIS type of society without ever firing up an oven!

I was fortunate to watch this morning on Cspan the Town Hall Meeting in Kenner, Louisiana. NOT ONE OBAMA PROTESTOR was in the large audience. It was heart warming to hear the Congressmen Dr. John Fleming, Dr. John Barrasso, and another that I didn't catch his name and Senator David Vittner explain in DETAIL the real, hidden time bombs in Obama's Healthcare Bill.

They allowed the people to ask any questions concerning Socialism, taxes for abortion, Social Security, Medicare, even Cap and Trade - and they explained EVERYTHING.

Sen. David Vittner said "the Devil is in the Details and Barbara Boxer doesn't want us to be distracted by the DETAILS. Well, I tell you, we want to know ALL THE DETAILS!"

These gentlemen opened up a whole array of related topics lurking in the shadows with this administration, as well as their educated forecast of our demise as a nation. They answered questions eagerly and simply from more than 50 people and let them add their comments. They explained Dr. Thomas Frieden's Plan for the Legislators and government employees health care, which was voted down by every liberal.

These Doctors have been on the road with their DOCTOR'S SHOW to educate and warn Americans. Have they been to Alabama?

I noted there was decorum and standing applause as the Legislators and Doctors promised to fight for us to the end. It was all very moving for me.

To all of you who are sick and tired of these knuckle draggers and their creepy religion, there is a minister in Alabama who is worth listening to. Rev. James Evans of the First Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama writes an op/ed column in the Montgomery Advertiser each Sunday. Here is this week's column: http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/arti...

Christianity needs more James Evans's and fewer people who have become insane with religious voodoo, self-piety, and hypocrisy.

Posted by rgodwin (anonymous) on August 30, 2009 at 2:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Estragon: maybe I missed something somewhere, but Evans was talking about the end times and the anti Christ and I don't recall anyone calling Obomer the anti Christ or talking about the end times. I think he is just an evil silver tongued facists that hates America, nothing more nothing less. I consider you both anti Christ, but you like me have no power. He is much worse because he has power and claims to be christian. We on this blog are talking about the destruction of America and its freedoms and if this administration isn't stopped, that will become a reality for me and you. The only difference will be that I and many others saw it coming and tried to stop it, while they used you and others like you to accomplish their goals.

Posted by MoreCowBell (anonymous) on August 30, 2009 at 2:52 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Estragon, I read the article written by Mr. Evans. I don't quite understand how a piece written about end time prophecy has anything to do with the current health care bill or it's authors. BTW, Mr. Evans would also be one of those "knuckle draggers" with the creepy religion as you seemingly describe us who follow Christ. I am and will forever be proud to profess my belief in Jesus Christ...I will make no compromises for this. For some reason I think you associate Christians with perfection. I am a Christian but I am far from perfect. I am a sinner and will die a sinner but I have the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ. I would however like to know what is meant by religious voodoo. We've all been guilty of hypocrisy from time to time as well as being self serving but I haven't seen a "insane religious voodoo".

Estragon: Interesting that you are giving advice as to what is needed by Christians that, based on your comments to the Star News, you so deeply despise.
I personally, have not read anything by Hal Lindsay nor have I read any of the Left Behind series. But, please note that Rev. Evans writes that his own reading suggests that the anti-Christ is anyone who refuses to follow the teachings of Jesus. He references the writings of John. Why do you accept this interpretation when you have stated that the Bible is a bunch of stories and not the word of God? If Evans can interpret the Bible and you accept it, how about the interpretation of Rev. Wright? Rev. Wright claims he is preaching from the Bible. I have never heard Rev. Evans speak, but will go out on a climb and say that, he too, uses the Bible as the basis for his teachings. Do you believe that Rev. Evans believes that the earth is flat? After all, the Bible that he references, teaches that, doesn’t it?
According to you, since Obama professes to be a Christian, he must be a knuckle dragger as well. After all, you really don’t distinguish between the knuckle dragging Christians and the non- knuckle dragging Christians. Some might interpret calling Obama a knuckle dragger as being racist. Surely, you aren’t a racist, are you Estragon?

The Blind Ones who are the Walking Dead, let us pray for them. One just posted.
I do not want even my worst enemy to suffer the fires of Hell for ALL ETERNITY. Estragon, you are in my prayers.

Since it is Sunday, and Estragon mentioned a minister, I take liberty to ask and reply: what is the difference between Man and God.
MAN: has intelligence. GOD: has intelligence.
" has strength. GOD: has power.
" has goodness. God: has goodness.
Man has limitations. God has NO limtations.

Man is limited in knowledge. God knows ALL THINGS
Man is limited in strength. God can do ALL THINGS
Man is limited in goodness. God is ALL-GOOD
Man is limited in time. God is ETERNAL

Who is like unto God? No man or Lucifer aka Satan.
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul for all eternity?

Each and everyone of us does not know the moment that our bodies will shut down on us and we come face to face with our Creator. And that's the moment of eternity. There are only 2 places we can choose - Heaven or Hell. Bottom line, Eternity is Forever and ever!

I have recently come across 2 excellent analyses of not only the health care reform issue, but the general state of our politics. The first is an interview that Bill Moyers gave on the HBO show, Real Time with Bill Maher. You can read excerpts of the interview and watch video of the show here: http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2...

The other analysis is by Paul Krugman in today's New York Tiimes. Here is a link to his column: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/31/opinio.... I learned something from Prof. Krugman's column. The health care reform proposed by Pres. Richard M. Nixon during the 1970's was more comprehensive than the one being proposed today by the Democrats.

Our nation since the 1970's has plunged far to the right, both of our political parties are too influenced by corporate cash, and one of our 2 major political parties has been overtaken by lunatics who can not carry on a rational policy debate. Not a good omen for our nation's future.

Posted by LoyalAmerican (anonymous) on August 31, 2009 at 9:18 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Estragon:I certainly appreciate your recognition that both parties have lunatics, incapable of "carrying on a rational nation policy debate." Is it not incredible that we long for the health care wisdom of President Nixon? I do disagree with your assessment that America "has plunged far to the right" since 1970. I believe the 70's created the toe hold opening for left wing and radical thinkers. Regardless of "Watergate", and whatever else one may use to cast a shadow on Nixon's presidency, he did have it right with health care reform. You are correct in stating the Preident Nixon's health care proposal was comprehensive. His proposal is totally coherent, not like the mumbo-jumbo of H.R. 3200! Perhaps printing his Special Message to Congress; and sending this printout to our current congress, would be a way to get them to settle down and begin a thoughtful process regarding Health Care Reform!

It seems that Obama is planning to broadcast a speech aimed at school children on September 8. There is a planning guide with suggested questions and activities. If you have kids in school, you might want to find out if they will watch the speech and what activities, if any, are planned.

Thank you very much for this information, WAtidfan!
This is a heads up for parents.
I have several grandchildren who are not homeschooled.

Shamrock: If I had a child in school, I'd make sure I gave them a snow day the day of Obama's speech and take them fishing or hiking. I would definitely not want them listening to Obama's propaganda. I don't know what the percentage of parents is that are involved in PTA or PTO. I'm not sure what they are calling it these days, but parents had better get involved to see what else these extremest are slipping in to indoctrinate their children or better yet, take them out and home school them. Parents, you need to educate yourselves on what these liberal extremest are attempting to do to our county and make sure your children are educated as well. These people are attempting so much at the same time that it is impossible to keep up with it all, but you can bet that none of it is good for America and the freedoms that we all hold dear.

rgodwin: I was at Senator Sessions meeting - were you? Were you able to get a question/statement in? Hinson did I am sure. We were sitting behind the Press to the left and the host never looked that way.
I think Hinson, or was that you that got in Alabama's Motto.
Applause!
If I had doubts about Sessions, I certainly do not now!
He is in there with Senator Vitter, Dr. Barrasso, John Fleming, Steve Scalise and Rodney Alexander and others! But that's not enough! It will take prayers and a return to our Constitution and our morals, as the Senator so well stated.

I wanted to ask for his take on the 3 Obama health Czars.

We are very grateful for having Senator Sessions in Washington, fighting for us. Not one person attending was a leftist agitator, although armed police, Posse, FBI, and a Dog were on the grounds, in case there was any disturbance or harm towards the Senator.

"WE DARE TO DEFEND OUR RIGHTS!"

Shamrock : I wasn't there, but I really like Senator Sessions. Alabama is fortunate to have the representation that we do, but I still favor term limits. I also don't think anyone has a better state motto than ours!

I didn't get to attend due to other appointments but I was there in spirit. A friend of mine attended and left with a great feeling about our representation in Washington via Sessions. Hopefully there will be some coverage tonight on the news. To all conservatives, keep up the good fight.

Now Shamrock, Greg White running for Governor is a JOKE!! He couldn't even get reelected as Chairman. Governor indeed. I do hope he does run, then we will hear things we only suspected that he and others used tax dollars illegally. Can't wait for him to run. Greg White as well as Sasser are an embarrassment to Covington County, not to forget Brag Carter as well.

I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Tea Party Rally in Washington on Saturday September 12th. This was by no means all republicans that showed up. There were most likely many more republicans if there had been a poll taken, but there were people of all parties who came together for a common purpose. People were there for many different reasons, but the one thing in common they all said is that they know government has forgotten that they work for the people and have over stepped by far the limits of their constitutional grounds. They also said that government is becoming more intrusive into our lives and that has to stop. I have no idea how many people were there but it was announced twice over the intercom, during the rally that there were an estimated 1.5 million in attendance. The Capitol Hill police that we talked to said it was the largest crowd they had ever seen in Washington or anywhere else, but you can bet that the liberal news media will never admit to the true numbers. These people came from all over the US to get there. Many of them were just like me and couldn't really afford to be there, but were there anyway. There were some great speakers, both black and white that spoke during the rally, but my favorite speaker was a young black marine. I wish I could remember his name, but can’t. He was just great and he told the crowd that he was not an African American. He told us that he was just a full blooded American! After his speech, this crowd of freedom loving Americans sang, God Bless America. It made chills run up my spine as we sang this song knowing that there were at least hundreds of thousands of freedom loving Americans singing from the heart. It was worth every penny I spent just to be a part of that. There was a black lady sitting on a bench on the street when I was walking back to my room Saturday night. She said she wanted to thanks us for standing up and speaking out. She said black people were blind right now, but she hoped it would change. I thanked her and told her it wasn’t only black people that were blind, but many were waking up and I hope many more wake up before we lose the America that we all love. The only thing we can do as voters is vote and stay informed on the issues. There are still honest people who love our country, willing to fight for the rights of the people and these are the people we should be sending to Washington.
I put this link below to show how the media has misrepresented the numbers at the rally.

I have never lost faith in my fellow Americans and I know each of us will continue to speak out when our government loses its way! We are truly experiencing something spectacular and the momentum will continue to build! My eyes were misty as I read what you wrote about the Marine who spoke. God Bless him and keep him safe! He represents hundreds of thousands of military personnel and all are due our unwavering support and gratitude! God Bless you for standing up and being part of history and God Bless America!

the latest health care plan says they will fine those who fail to get coverage. Will somebody tell me what sense this makes when the ones who fail to get it will be the same ones who cant afford it now, like me.After i pay mortgage, lights, home and auto insurance, gas and food i have nothing left and often come up short. Its always a stuggle already.how can they do this to people?I think they are trying to just get rid of poor people.I also think(with THEIR pres.obama)this country is gone to heck in a hand basket if we dont get him out of there.I wish Alabama would secede from the union and put things back the way they should be.And NO,I dont mean anything to do with slavery or race in any way, only idiots would think that was EVER the right thing to do.

It is about total control of your life, mine and every other Americans life. That's why we all have to be bold and speak up against this administration and it's anti American agenda, every opportunity we have and vote them all out of office the first chance we get.

rgodwin: Great post. Thanks for representing many true patriotic Americans who could not be there. I, too, have great faith in our patriots who will not stand for the destruction of America. Obama and his left-wing cohorts (to include the MSM) gravely underestimated the American people. The community organizer in the White House and his socialist/commies friends and co-conspirators would do well to remember the words of Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto after Pearl Harbor. "I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with terrible resolve". They have no idea.

LoyalAmerican, Do I hear share the wealth in this comment?

rgodwin and LoyalAmerican: my daughter let me know you were back online.
regodwin: I want to personally thank you for going to Washington as my and my entire family's representative; and to sing the great American hymn 'God Bless America'. I too, Loyal, had tears in my eyes as I lived it in my heart.
You know well, that those voices were heard by all in Heaven! God will answer our cries and prayers; and send His legions of Angels to guide and protect us. God Bless America, land of the free and home of the brave!

I am extremely emotional to witness in this short time the change in Americans. Our men and women such as Dick Armie, and Representives: Michele Bachman, Minn.(has Cap n Trade figures on cost to employment and debt);
Joe Wilson, S.C.;
Dan Burton,Ind.(asked for Acorn's investigation);
Ted Poe, Tx.; Randy Neugbauer, Tx;
Dr. Steve Scalise, La. (has new healthcare bill 3200); Rep. Judge John Carter, Tx. (strong vocal force for the Rule of Law);
and STEVE KING, Iowa - Presdential material!
They are in my prayers.

justwingit: Yes indeed, that is a call to spread the wealth. Obama has made a serious error in his judgement of the American people. We are strong, we are fair and we are determined! We will NOT turn our nation over to those who do not quiver when they see Old Glory waving, or those who refuse to proudly place their hand over their heart and recite the Pledge of Allegiance with One Nation Under GOD intact, or those who attempt to diminish the very spirit of America. I love this great nation! I will do all in my humble human power to help preserve and protect all that is truly American. We are in the midst of a spectacular time in America. We are reclaiming America and the values for which She stands. The road to reclamation of our nation will be long and bumpy; an arduous journey. But remember the pioneers heading westward. Their challenges were great, yet their resolve was greater than their challenges!! We too must be committed to reaching our goal....no matter what! The 9/12 project has turned the tide! God Bless America, land that I love!!

I just saw poll results on Foxnews where 45% of the 1,376 practicing doctors polled would consider shutting down their practice if Obama care is made law. I think it said that 64% of those same doctors were against his plan. Adding another 40 million plus people to any kind of health care plan without a huge increase in doctors and nurses is an asinine plan no matter who came up with it. This is just a terrible bill for all Americans and I hope and pray we stay awake and not let this plan pass in any form. I love America and I love freedom, but if this passes, just more of our freedoms will be gone.

Yes, thanks to Representatives, Drs. Steve Scalise and John Barrasso, who have alerted Doctors as to how this Obama bill will affect their patients and themselves.

I also notice Fox and Beck are becoming more aggressive against the Dems policies, as more of the population supports their reporting. It's all coming together.
God bless our efforts.

rgodwin: IF, and that is a huge if, anything is passed, especially by "nuclear trigger" as threatened by some Democrats, the backlash will be astounding! The Democrats need to pitch H.R. 3200 in its present form and start over. They may nuke it through, but lo and behold the power of 2010! Much of what we do can be retracted, to include undoing what a misguided congress has done or may do to us! I think someone with an entrepreneurial spirit should think about starting a moving company in DC. Something tells me there will be a lot of business after January 2011!!
Shamrock: You are correct, I want everyone to maintain high spirits. Many years ago, I fought a hard battle. It was a medical malpractice case. The doctor involved was so wrong on so many levels until it defied belief! All I asked for in the beginning was an apology....which never came. For four years I had to keep the anguish caused by that doctor in the forefront of my mind and in my heart. Some days the anguish was too much to bear, but I knew I had to persevere or that jackal of a doctor would devastate yet another. Thank God for the strength He gave to me and I stayed the course. In the end, the doctor lost big time! He lost his license to practice medicine and 3 new laws were written! I know how important it is to keep faith and hope alive for our cause, this is why I am sharing with everyone. We WILL make a difference! We must be able to look our children and grandchildren in the eye and say; We made a difference because we are PATRIOTS!!!!
I wish today could be 4th of July!! I have a huge need wave Old Glory and hear Lee Greenwood belt out I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!!! I am pumped!! God Bless America as He stands beside us, and guides us!

LoyalAmerican, I expect them to nuke it through, but we can change it if people stay involved like they are now and get out to vote. The make up of the Senate going into the 2010 elections is a result of the 2008 elections, in which the Dems gained eight seats. The Democratic Party gained another seat with the defection of Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania in 2009. The Senate is currently made up of 57 Democrats, 40 Republicans, and two independents, Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Bernie Sanders of Vermont, both of whom might as well be Democrats. Of the 36 seats expected to be up for election in 2010, 18 are held by Democrats and 18 by Republicans. We need retain every seat we now have and fill all 18 eligible seats with true freedom loving Americans. The senate elections will be on Nov. 2, 2010, but I believe there will be another huge march on Washington before then, to get the voters fired up and motivated ready to vote to take back the Senate for main stream America. The Republicans lost both houses back in 2006 because they started acting like Democrats and let spending get out of control. They know conservative America is awake now and will hold them accountable if we put them back in power and the blow it again!

rgodwin: Yesterday, I received the usual letter/survey from the RNC, seeking a donation. I wrote, in bold Sharpie black, across the material sent, that any future donations from me will be contingent on HOW the Republicans behave/vote regarding health reform, illegals and tort reform. We must find those in congress that are willing to stand up, regardless of their party affiliation, and demand Constitutional purity. I recommend getting a copy of Judge Andrew Napolitano's book: The Constitution in Exile. Napolitano gives and interesting view on our Constitutional troubles of today. The slippery slope we are on now is the same one initially greased by Chief Justice John Marshall. Subsequent Supreme Courts should have righted his wrongs.
I hope there is another huge Conservative Rally before the election of 2010. I will guarantee one thing, at this one there will be 1.7 million PLUS one!

LoyalAmerican, I received my RNC letter today and I'm doing the same thing. I don't know how many people are watching Glenn Beck's program at 4pm on Fox News but he is just great. The Obama administration hates him almost as much as I love and admire his dedication to exposing corruption. He is on fire and getting results. Both houses voted today to cut all funding to Acorn, but we will have to be vigilant, because liberals will just slip them in under the radar and fund them under another name if possible.
