ARH names ER manager
Published Thursday, February 12, 2009
Amy Herrington has been named as Andalusia Regional Hospital’s new emergency room manager.
Named to the post in December, Herrington has 12 years experience as a nurse and has spent the majority of her nursing career at ARH.
Currently, her primary duty is the staffing and scheduling of the 12-member staff in the emergency room.
“Basically, it’s my job to run the ER,” she said. “And I love it. It’s something different every few minutes. You have to be ready for whatever comes through those doors.”
Herrington comes from a family of medical service providers, she said.
“You can say it’s in my blood,” she said. “Everyone on my mother’s side of the family — with the exception of her — is in the medical field. My grandfather, who’s 76, is the oldest active EMT in the state of Florida. We just love what we do.”
Herrington is married to Jonathan McKinney and the couple has four children and one on the way: Madison Herrington, 17; Colter Herrington, 15; Sierra McKinney, 13, and Courtney McKinney, 11.
The family resides in Andalusia.

Ya know Jim...I hope and pray that you never, ever need the ER either! I hope no one does, but unfortunately some do. And, when some come in having heart attacks or other life threatening conditions, I am proud to say that I am a nurse and I do work in the ER!
