Babe Ruth, Little League district tournaments commence today

The 9-to-10-year-old All-Stars district tournament kicks off today.

Continuing today, the 2009 Babe Ruth 13- and-15-year-old Andalusia, Covington County and Opp All-Stars teams will commence play in the annual district tournament at Andalusia High School.

The 15-year-old tournament is in a double elimination format, while the 13-year-old tournament will be played as a best-of-three series.

Opp will play the winner of the Andalusia-Covington County game today at 1 p.m.

The first game in the losers’ bracket will be at 7 p.m. today.

The semifinal round of the tournament will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. and the finals will be the same day at 5:30 p.m.

The second game of the 13-year-old tournament will take place today at 10 a.m. There will be a third game at 4 p.m., if necessary.

In addition to the Babe Ruth district tournament, the 9-to-10-year-old All-Star district tournament will begin today in Opp at 6 p.m. with Brewton against Evergreen.

Andalusia will play Covington County at 8 p.m., with the winner facing the East Brewton/Flomaton winner Sunday at 6 p.m.

The tournament is in a double elimination format and will last until July 3 at 7 p.m. with the championship game.
