Girl, 5, injured in SUV mishap

Published Thursday, May 21, 2009

A 5-year-old from Covington County is recovering in a Florida hospital after being backed over by an SUV Wednesday in Crestview, Fla.

Paris Wooten was standing behind the vehicle when the driver — 26-year-old Nicole Kemp — backed over her, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report. The report said Kemp told troopers she didn’t see Wooten.

Wooten was visiting her father in Crestview when the accident, which ruptured an artery in the girl’s liver, occurred. She is currently recovering in the Sacred Heart Hospital’s ICU unit in Pensacola, Fla.

No other details surrounding the accident or Wooten’s condition were available.
