Andalusia, Straughn will be in same football region next year
Opp drops to Class 3A
Published Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Straughn and Andalusia will be region opponents in football for the next two years, according to the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s new 2010-12 realignment, announced Wednesday.
Every two years, high schools in Alabama are reclassified based on enrollment, and Straughn gained enough students to move up to Class 4A. Opp dropped to Class 3A, and all other county schools remained the same.
Straughn and Andalusia will compete together in the new Class 4A, Region 2, along with Alabama Christian, Ashford, Bullock County, Headland, Hillcrest-Evergreen and Saint James.
See Thursday’s issue of the Andalusia Star-News for the complete story.
