Multiple child victims in case
Sheriff confirms scope of local investigation
Published Saturday, October 24, 2009
New details are emerging in the sex abuse case against a local pastor, as Sheriff Dennis Meeks confirmed Friday there are “multiple” child victims in this “large-scale” investigation.
Ralph Lee Aaron, a 54-year-old Andalusia resident, was jailed Wednesday on charges of sex abuse of a child under 12 and sodomy. As of Thursday, he was listed as the pastor of Grace Christian Fellowship on Shreve Road.
Meeks said Aaron was booked into the county jail where he is being held without bond on the first of what is expected to be many other sex abuse charges.
“This appears to be a large scale investigation, with maybe even more charges in the future,” Meeks said. “It really is a very large case, and we don’t know where it’s going to lead. That’s why the information is slow in coming out.
“I will say as far as we know right now, there are multiple local victims. But as I said before, this is a large case, and we don’t know where the investigation will go as it continues,” he said.
Meeks did not comment on the gender of Aaron’s alleged victims nor the circumstances that began the investigation into Aaron’s alleged actions.
No contact information was found for Grace Christian Fellowship. As of Friday evening, The Star-News had received no word concerning Aaron’s standing in the church.

Children don't seem to be safe anywhere. This is so disgusting!!!!!! I know GOD forgives but I personally could never forgive anyone like this. Maybe the inmates will give him some ROUGH JUSTICE!!!!!

I posted this in another thread. I knew Ralph as an acquaintance. He did come across as a likable person around me. I am very saddened for the victims and their families, and I hope they do get justice and peace. As a preacher and pastor myself, I am saddened that something like this happens and it discourages so many people from putting trust in their pastor or in a church. If you ever see a pastor that you do know and trust do anything that makes you or someone else question his intentions or motives, please call him on it and confront him or her. My heart is heavy also because now many of you will hesitant to go to your pastor about problems. I feel as you that you really and truly do not know the heart of another person whose intentions may be less than honorable. My heart is especially burdened for the victims and families. I hope each of you who read this will trust in Christ and not in a man.

I would like to ask you all to please read the posts on NEWS, Doctors Have Nasal Serum. It has a direct impact on children, everyone for that matter, and to please pass the information on to your friends and family.
I am sorry for the children involved with this man. Pornography is a tool of the Satan. It is a scourge and much more.

I feel compeled to say something that will probably bring down all hell on me, but, it must be said. Parents are culpable most of the time for leading their children to believe that they must at all times do what the Pastor says or they will go to hell. Now, I've known parents who used this on kids and I object. When a parent is so wrapped up in religion that they think every minute of every day nothing else matters, then the parent has a problem. Then, after the child is brainwashed, the 'elder' has their opening and makes a move. I don't know what happened in this case, but, Dennis seems to think he has a good case and I feel that there should be no bond in cases like this. dusty18 said it all,"God forgives, Daddies don't." All I'm saying is "Parents, teach your children well".

floknos, is your elevator going all the way to the top? I love and believe in the scriptures too but let's get with the program here.
Getting back to the subject, I feel very sorry for the victims and their families. This is horrible! There are so many great and wonderful pastors out there that are doing what God has directed them to do. This I am confident of. When this type thing happens, it is certainly a stumbling block to those who are trying to do what God has called them to do and to those that they are trying to reach. Remember, those of us who are Christians have been warned about deceivers and false prophets. Unfortunately they are out there but they are not of God but are of the devil. I'm not condemning anyone...we'll have to wait for the trial to see whether or not this man is guilty or innocent.
In the mean time, I intend to pray for those who have been victimized and hurt as well as the accused perpetrator.

If this is true, which it appears to be so, since there appears to be more than one person making these claims, that the man who has done this evil sin against those affected, truly pays in his conscience and finds real repentance before his last breath and I pray for the victims and their families for the healing they will need to recover and move on and a heart of forgiveness as we are uncouraged to do by our Lord. I don't know if I could ever forgive such a person if they harmed my kid, it would be harder than anything I could imagine, but I would hope that others, would pray for me to do as Christ would want me to do.
I agree that it looks bad on the Church and Christianity as a whole when this kind of thing happens, especially when its at the hands of church leadership. I just hope when things like this happens that people will just remember that one person or one denomination, does not Christianity make. The Bible is the only outline people should look to, if they wish to know what Christianity is.
outlaw11, the way I see it is, if parents tell "their children to believe that they must at all times do what the Pastor says or they will go to hell." is absurd and idiotic, especially in this evil age. I don't know any parent that tells their kids that and I hope they dont. Parents are responsible for teaching their kids right from wrong and teaching them principles from the Bible. We have always taught our kid to never let anyone lay a hand on them and if anyone ever tried to make them do something that they knew was wrong, to come to us, no matter what the person tells them, even if it was a threat.
God Bless

Children who have been victimized in such a way as this will wear those scars for the rest of their lives and what this man (if he gets time jail time) will get is 3 meals a day, clean jail clothing, and don't forget store call. I think that they aught to let the fathers take care of this man if you can honestly call him a man. He is nothing!
I hope that the parents of these children will get them help because they are going to need a lot of counseling. I know how hard it will be if they don't get them the help that they need.
That is why I have a change of heart against this man!

B84: I worked for years as an undercover investigator and worked more than my share of these cases...the thing we heard over and over from thses kids were what I stated above, not idiotic at all, just truthful...parents would they did not say this, but, before it was over, the parent would admit to making these statements. I knew some of you would want to differ, but, your opinion means nothing to me. You see, this is one thing I was never able to harden myself against...I worked cases in In, Fl,Ms,& AL...before the Catholic cases came up, so whatever makes you feel good, think it...but don't call me an idiot.
Posted by outlaw11 (anonymous) on October 24, 2009 at 5:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)
and B84: in the case of the Catholic priests, over 900 cases and in ALL of them, the kids stated that they were doing what their PARENTS told them to do...follow the priests' instructions, do not argue, and someday you will have a place in Heaven...check on it. And before I sign off, in most cases, the child told a grown-up, but, because it was a preacher, teacher, coach, neighbor, etc, the child was not believed, so it took or takes years sometimes for the truth to come out.

If Ralph Aaron has done this, he should be put in jail for the rest of his life. When something like this happens it should be a wake up call to parents. I see it all the time, parents using church as a babysitter. I've seen them make there children go. Just so they can get them out from under there feet for awhile. I want to believe people are good. But don't have a blind trust in anyone.

outlaw11, I wasnt calling you idiotic, you misread or misunderstood what I was saying, I was merely commenting on what you said and... I said if "PARENTS" ,tell "their children to believe that they must at all times do what the Pastor says or they will go to hell." is absurd and idiotic. In others words it would be idiotic for parents to tell their children that.
And I agree with your assessment. ""Parents, teach your children well"

I don't understand people's expression "hope they go to jail for the rest of there lives"... why do you? so you will have to work the rest of your life to pay for him to live the rest of his life... NO!!! I say, the law get some balls and give this man to ALL the daddies of these boys and let them all have a turn with him... and then, God rest his soul!!!! jail to me is just not jail these days, its a retreat and vacation for some and home for others... justice just don't seem like justice these days... God be with the families of the victims and I pray you all make it thru this...

But I am just blessed that my husband understands what I am going through and believe me it is not something that you just get over as I have heard since....and every time I hear whether on TV, Radio, or Newspaper I relive the pain. Yes I am angry but how can I not. These innocent little children that God said let no man harm one hair on their head, he may not be judged according to his crimes. Jail is too good for Aaron. Let him be put to death as they did in the biblical days.

Some will say put them in prison, but would that help? Like others say it costs the taxes payers too much and they have it good in prison, plus the damage is already done. Some would say put them to death, but I believe thats Gods decision not ours. If it were left to me, I would say lifetime in Prison in solitary confinement, with no bail etc. But that too may not be the right decision for each individual case. Who knows.
Ivarr, no problem and I understand what your saying.
Ivarr, Mark 9:42 says that, but it doesnt say men should punish or how. Thats up to God.
The Bible also says...
Jhn 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
Jhn 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
Jhn 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
We cant use Old Testament laws or regulations as a catch all for our ideas, they were all done away with, by Christs coming and the New Covenant.

I guess I'll put my "2 cents" in, for what it's worth, this is just my opinion, not just on this case but on the world we live in, in general...
I am a father of 4 children, while reading these articles I am constantly reminded of how terribly wrong this country has become since the days when I was their age. I can't trust the world to let my children walk 1/4 mile down the street, when at their age I myself use to walk/ride miles to visit a friend. I used to spend entire days walking down the river banks with fishing gear in hand, but can my children enjoy the same luxury? Not anymore. I blame society in general. Too many bleeding hearts and crooks. What happened to accountability? Where have the values gone, that we were raised to hold? This country needs harsher punishments, not only to punish the guilty, but to deter others from the same fate. If you are found guilty of violent crimes the penalty should be so severe that no man (or woman) would ever consider putting themselves in that situation. You want a better world? Make the changes, enforce the punishments, and watch the crime rates decline. Prison is not the answer for the vast majority of inmates today. Cellblocks full of rapists/murderers/thieves. It pure disgusts me to think that one of my children might meet one of these people once they are released. Search the internet and look at how many sex offenders reside in our county, hell our city limits. How many murderers and thieves roam our streets? I say we need to rid society of these "people" if you want to call them that. An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Send them to their maker, let him be their judge. Why can't the streets be safe for my children? What did they do to deserve the danger that lurks around every corner? Should they have to live in fear of "the nice man down the street" or "the lost lady needing directions" or the man who is too sorry to work for a living because it's far easier to rob someone at gunpoint? Seems they're not even safe at church anymore. Am I the only one tired of this? The solution is so simple. It hasn't been all that long ago since the days when justice was swift and severe for crimes of this nature. How has it so quickly become forgotten? One thing I do know is that it's only getting worse. I say stop it now.

I feel that when the investigation is complete, and right now, there are multiple acussations, and charges are brought, then the defense will first ask for a change of vinue, then plead not guilty due to mental disorder. In a lot of these cases, the person is found to be mentally disturbed, placed in a hospital for observation, has privledges, is allowed vistors, has x-amount of outside time each day, all under the quise of research, backed by liberal politicans and liberal courts. The most recent case here in our county ended in a 25 yr sentence, but, this case will have multiple incidents, so it will fall under a different type charge than when only one or two children are involved. I guess we just wait and see. It will probably take 2 years to go to court.

sickntired: 100% correct...have a good old fashioned hanging on the square and require everyone over the age of 6 to attend. And, remember, when the Bible was written, persons who went against the laws were stoned, hanged, or nailed to a cross...any of these 3 would get a law-breaker's attention. It cost $27000 per year to house one of these people, but, a retired or disabled person on Social Security draws only $12-18000 per year...something's wrong with the system.

Sickntired" My added opinion on these very good points you've brought up is: Pornography.
If I hated human beings to the degree that Satan hates us, I would do everything to seduce, tempt, and ever so cleverly make them believe they are gods that can take pleasure from, or incur cruetly upon humans. In this way, I would be victorious over God and His foolish creatures and bring them into the eternal fires that I must endure because of my pride - I, the Angel of Light!
How dare humans can think they can inherit Paradise, and I CANNOT!
Without a return to God our Creator and Savior, this world we live in will only become more decadent, barbaric and godless, and we will witness more of Satan's evil plans for us. It's only when we become humble and realize we are not little gods, that we'll once again be worthy to be called 'children of God'.
The world will change - but only when we humbly ask for God's mercy and entrust ourselves once again to Him.
Just my opinion.

I despise child molesters so much, and it's such a sad shame that a grown man would choose, yes choose, to seek his pleasures on an innocent young person, it's just preposterous! I was a victim of child molestation in that a family member of mine, a very close family member, was molested from the time she was 5 years old til the age of 8, when she finally "told", The person she told believed her and steps were taken immediately to take her to DHR and have her repeat her story, in that the story she was telling about the abuse, was just too believable to not be true, there was no way a child of that age could know or should know the things that she did.

The perpetrator, of course denied the charges, but was arrested, and I believe bonded out the same day. He maintains his innocence to this day, but she also maintains her grounds as well. He never spent any time in jail. He pleaded guilty and took a deal whereby he had 5 years probation and of course has to register as a sexual predator whereever he lives. I'm telling this story because this child is now a mother of one and is 22 years old. She still and always will have horrible memories of what hapened to her so long ago. She was placed in my home immediately after finding out what happened, and she was also placed in therapy, and not to throw off on the therapists in Covington County, but I don't believe they helped her at all. Since she has become an adult, she has become a different person, in that she doesn't have any backbone to stand up for herself and her child. She takes extremely good care of her baby, and will not leave him with anyone for fear of the same thing happening to him. She's angry most of the time, but she's scared all the time. She's been struggling with her past for so long, and she's not getting any better. I believe that in cases of thisnature, intense therapy should be given to the victim so that they can possibly overcome their fears at least to the point that they can function on a daily basis as a normal person. This preacher man, as he calls himself, is a total disgrace to mankind, to the ministry, to the churches, and to his family. How can anyone do such a thing. I just cannot fathom how a grown man or woman, can get pleasure from touching, fondling, molesting a child! Mental, I think not! That's just loophole that they all know they can jump into! I'm not the law, nor do I pass laws, but I can't think of a punishment great enough for these type people. Lock him up, like yall said, that's a gravy train for him. Hang him...that's illegal....oops, so is child molestation! It's just a hard call. What do you do with people like this. Build an entirely new jail, to just house molesters....then maybe they could all kill each other....I don't know. I'm hoping and praying for the families of these children, as they have a long, long road ahead of them. And it won't stop when the trial ends, it goes on and on. As I said, the nightmares and memories my niece had and continues to have has impacted her life dramatically in that she is just having such a hard time coping with life in general on a daily basis, and she's just so scared of men! God bless the victims and their families. I do pray that justice will be served for all of you, and that this man never ever sees daylight again, but as we all know, what are the chances of that happening. I'm sorry, but I have no faith in the justice system to put these people away where they truly belong.....before long, he will be walking the streets of Andalusia again.....and waht can we do about it.....NOTHING! God Bless.

Sickntired, I agree with your comment to the fullest. Everything you said is soooo very true. I do not allow my children to go outside to play unless me or my husband are outside with them and that's a crying shame! I watch them like a hawk because you never know who is lurking around the corner watching them. If they go to football games or basketball games you better believe that I am watching every step they make. I, too, used to walk miles to visit my friends and my parents did not have to worry about someone "snatching" me. I lived in a neighborhood where people looked out for each other. Society today is so warped. Where have all the good guys gone? My goodness, if you can't trust your pastor then who can you trust?? Be blessed everyone.

Pedophiles know where to find innocent victims.
If anyone is addicted to Pornography, you are just one micro step away from the same fate as this man. And that is where Satan has gained the upper hand on all concerned. Much suffering and pain.
Ineedtobeheard: This young mother can only be freed of these memories and feelings is by (and this is the Truth) her giving these sufferings to our Lord Jesus, the gentle Savior who purifies us. A one on One with Jesus.
He will take this evil from her and replace it with His peace and tender consolation.
She must do this every day, allowing Jesus to envelope her in His Love - to rest in the arms of Jesus near His Sacred Heart should be her only recourse.
I will pray for her and the boy...if she doesn't go to Jesus, one on One, her son will also suffer.
Thank you, Ineedtobeheard: You have been heard. Let us ALL pray for them.

This is the ultimate betrayal of trust. A pastor is supposed to be a leader of individuals to God, and not the criminal. What a sickening feeling to churn around in your stomach.
I know there are good pastors out there. I only wish that there were more of them. I wish there were never any stories like this to print. Sometimes you just wonder why...

Here in our part of the world, there have been very few of these problems arise, which says a lot for the churches, the parents, the schools, teachers, coaches, relatives, etc., so, this is not the everyday happening as it is in other parts of the US. For this we should be thankful, but, on the other hand, how did we let this happen? We must learn from our mistakes, first- teach the parents/leaders, second- teach our young, third- follow thru on any problem...I worked in this world for a while and we could set up classes on what to look for, what questions to ask, how to follow up on leads, and try to stop any futher problems in this area. I realize that 'this' has already happened, but, maybe we could stop any more from becoming a reality. There are several Pastors in our area whom would be good in this area and there are others who would not. For any of you who know Robert Kanat, I feel sure he would be more than pleased to be asked to be part of this. On the other hand, he might tell me to keep my butt at home, although I don't think so. And, there are several others whom I think would donate time to work in this area, just a thought. I would be more than happy to lend my background/education/experience to this cause...let me know on this web-site. In the mean time, use this time to "teach your children well".

bama: as I said, not multiple? I know persons and kids in two of those...I said as this is going to be "multiple", not even near what any of you expect, but, I have worked where it was over 2 dozen kids involved...the most I know of in Cov.Cty was 2-4 in the same family. If I'm wrong please correct me...but, during my travels as an investigator over the areas assigned to me, it was nothing to be led into such as this in Tx, La, Ar, Ok, and other states which involved several churches, their pastors, and a line of sale for young men/women to be shipped overseas. So, you question would be what? Where was I? Hell, where were you? I was on an airplane, a boat, following a sale to stop it before it became permanent. The small amount here is not acceptable, but, compared to the national average, it is damned good. That is all that I meant, sorry if I pissed you off. If you have a problem, get off your ass and do what I do...if not, go back to sleep with floknos.

B84: we taught our girls the same thing about anyone ever trying to touch them or harm them in any way. We told them that there were people in this world who would try to harm them and that if they did, they'd tell them that their mama and daddy wouldn't love them any more if the found out. We told them to never be afraid to come and tell us anything, because we would always love them no matter what. The law would not have to punish someone for harming one of my children if I found out first.

I was a youth minister and this guy was the Pastor at another church years ago. I was so upset about the way he treated me , and the church that I left the church for three years after serving under him. I had no idea what kind of sick man he was. I have struggled over the years with why I could not forgive him for the way he was. My God I hope he never hurt any of my youth. And I am sad that he hurt anyone at all. His wife is one of the sweetest people I ever met. May God have mercy on him. I am a pastor now and my heart is broken for those who trusted him.

He is certainly lucky it wasnt my child. I have a shotgun that says he would never hurt another one. statisticly these freaks get out and do it again. Doesnt everyone agree that the lord would rather protect our children than the low life that abused them? I was also sexulally abused in a chuch as a child. I say keep the bible but pop a cap in his a**. Be sure to ask forgiveness when you are done.
