Straughn defeated Andalusia in middle school football action Thursday night.

The Straughn Middle School football team shut out Andalusia on Thurday night in Straughn, 14-0.

On Straughn’s opening kickoff, Brice Scott caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Messick in the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead after the two-point conversion was good.

“We had one week on a new offense and we did well,” Straughn coach Benjie Kinsaul said. “We enjoyed playing Andalusia and coach (Tommy) Wright, along with his team, are class acts.

“It was a big win for us with it being the second year we’ve had a middle school team,” he said.

In the third quarter, Scott caught his second touchdown pass of the night, but his team missed their second attempt at a two-point conversion.

The Tigers improve to 2-1 on the season and will host T.R. Miller next Thursday night.

On Oct. 1, Straughn will host Opp. The Sept. 10 game that was canceled due to weather will be played on Oct. 6 at Opp.
