What happened to our civility?
Published Saturday, September 19, 2009
“Incivility” has been the major buzzword in the national media this month, with headline after headline about celebrities and famous figures losing their cool publicly.
It started on Fri., Sept. 4, when golfing great Tiger Woods was angry at a bad shot during the Deutsche Bank Championship and threw away his golf club in disgust. Then, South Carolina congressman Joe Wilson yelled out “you lie” during President Obama’s speech to the joint session of Congress on Wed., Sept. 10. And last weekend, during the U.S. Open, tennis stars Serena Williams and Roger Federer each lost their cool during play. Finally, last Sunday, rap star Kanye West shocked the audience at the MTV Music Awards when he jumped onto stage and interrupted an award presentation to country music star Taylor Swift, saying that hip-hop artist Beyonce should have won the award.
Obviously, we are all humans and we all have moments where our emotions get the best of us. I know that I have been angry and used profanity at times (though certainly not in such a public location as the U.S. Open). Tennis stars have lost their cool before — yes, I’m serious, John McEnroe. Even interrupting presidential speeches is nothing new — the Democratic Party members booed President George W. Bush’s 2005 State of the Union address several times.
At the same time, it does seem to me like these moments of bad manners are becoming more and more common.
Personally, I can’t see why people would be surprised about this devolution of decorum. All you have to do is turn on HBO and open up an Internet browser and it’s easy to see why we’ve become a nation where swear words have become little more than another part of the vernacular.
I believe the Internet is particularly to blame. Yes, it is a wonderful tool that allows us to research a variety of topics from the comfort of our home. But it is also a mouthpiece for the most vulgar and obscene commentary, things that would never be said in public or in print, for obvious fear of retribution.
All you have to do is open a Youtube video and read the comments, and it shouldn’t take you long at all to find someone calling another user a swear word or epithet. I’m not trying to be a prude, but when you see that kind of garbage language often enough, you become desensitized to it.
We’re only going to see more Kanye Wests and Serena Williams and Joe Wilsons. And if it’s this bad now, I shudder to think of what we might hear in the future.

All during the political debate, we heard people saying horrible things about Sarah Palin..some have won awards for ridiculing and belittling her and her family. My grandkids have heard the media trash all the young female singers..calling them names that no one should call anyone. Calling President Obama a "liar"seems tame in comparsion..but I agree that it wasn't what was said, but WHERE it was said.

Justin, hold on to your writer's chair.......Young men in America used to have a pocket size book for reference, "The Gentlemens Handbook", later came 'Social Graces' published by Webster. Satire for these graces and conduct are now reserved for 'Leave It To Beaver' fans. The conduct you have spoken of this morning has become 'accepted' by mainstream America, not only is it accepted, but expected. Us older folks call it a 'decline in moral values', but really its just a change from what society will and will not accept, which happens every century. No longer are their 'duals', now what has replaced the dual, is
'character assasination', just smear someone's good name and its legal. Its done everyday in the news, legal systems, rumor mills, wherever there is communication, and you get the same results as if you'd had a dual,..and won. Expect to see more, and the more you see, the more we will all get used to it by celebrities, politcians, and people in the 'limelite' that set our social standards. Do I like it? No, but it's gone so far in our culture now that there's no stopping it.

Bluecollarguy: A great comment. As another blue collar guy, I don't care if Joe screams liar, liar, liar while chasing his mistress or sitting in his Sunday school class. Joe is just another wealthy lawyer that avoided military service by joining the reserves and knows nothing about the plight of American blue collar workers. If the folks in SC like him it is OK by me. Russ Limbaugh said he was an American hero. But Russ is also the son of lawyers, a college drop out, draft avoider, and has never worked for a living. In other words, a mouth! Oh no! I am just as guilty as they are.
Morecowbell and mickey: This is just more WASP rebel rousing.

My question is this: how the hell did Kanye get past stage security which is at each set of steps going up to the stage and placed in front to keep people from climbing onto the stage? I have played at some of these venues in the past and also served as stage security during the mid-80s. Noone got past us unless they were called to the stage. As for Wilson, he spoke out in the wrong place. As for the atheletes, they are all pros and can do as they please as there is noone to stop them. As b'guy said above, it is an excepted thing in today's society, whether we like it or not. (oh yeah, had that been my daughter on stage, she would knocked Kanye's teeth out with the mike, then kicked him btw the legs).

Patrick: You have an entirely different image of Congressman Joe Wilson then the people that know him personally. I heard what Rep. Steve King, Judge John Carter, Michele Bachman, Dr. Steve Scalise, Dan Burton, Ted Poe, and Dave Vitter had to say about their colleague, and it was nothing but respect and praise for this honorable man!
You imply that Mr. Wilson is unfaithful to his wife and family and to those who elected him. To try to destroy the good name of another by slander is a grievous sin of Detraction!
You could only wish to be half the man that Joe Wilson is in the eyes of his family and those that elected him to represent them in Congress - the Voice of the People!
Patrick, you are no different than the Progressive Liberals who throw poison arrows to defame good people because they are conservatives. You're no different than Estro and Iamab. Anything you have to say from here on, will be taken with a grain of salt. You have now joined the infamous list of the Blind Ones. Congratulations, Sir Patrick!

Patrick, Wilson is a lawyer so he didn't drop out of college....or if he did, he must have returned. How do you know he dodged the draft? He retired as a Colonel in the SC National Guard. Are you trying to say that folks serving in the NG don't serve their country. I suspect that there would be a lot of folks take issue with you on that one. You are no different that the rest of the liberal name callers.

Shamrock: Your post highlights precisely what Justin Schuver addressed in his OpEd! As you pointed out, some responders on this thread show nothing but a lack of civility through malicious remarks about someone they do not know! That proves they are part of the problem! As for Joe Wilson's remark, I don't give two hoots about his timing or where he was when he said "You Lie". At least his opinion was steeped in honesty! The House of Congress no longer holds the allure of respect and dignity. It is no more than a brothel for thieves, liars and tax evaders. The majority of the occupants in congress have prostituted themselves in some way to either, drug companies, unions, lawyers, big corporations, self interest groups, etc. My respect level for these double standard no-gooders is zero. The only place of respectful in DC is Arlington Cemetary!

Hi LA: the networks and talk shows were all over it as were many, many other musicians (especially females) and by noon on Mon he had placed a personal call to Taylor to apologize, but. it still should not have happened with security posted. All the cable news shows covered it as well as some daytime shows like the view (which had Taylor as a guest on Mon)...But, I totally agree that if it were a reversed race thing, then the ACLU, Rev Sharpe, Jessie Jackson, etc, would all have gotten involved. I think it is a shame that he even be allowed at any award show since he pulled a similar faux pas last year and has made some downright harsh racist remarks recently. Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Pickler, Pink, and several more singers, along with several male singers lashed out and made statements that he should be banded until he straightened out his act. But, Taylor handled it with all the dignity of a true Southern Belle, and, you correct about the majority of Congress.

LoyalAmrican: I watched on Cspan 6 conservative Congressmen give testimony (after 'hours') that was transcribed and the house speaker, a man, was in the Seat, it was about 2 hours or more long.
The 6 that addressed their Bills and explained their positions about healthcare, Cap n Trade, The Rule of Law, Acorn investigations, Healthcare Czar and all the other Czars, the 3400 bill, the Bailout check for $700B etc..
I was frozen in my chair listening to these Congressmen. I know now there are these mighty fighters, battling not only the Dems but their own Republicans.
I have named the 6 above, excluding Sen. David Vitter.
I would love to get this record of what they said to read over again! Steve King is definitely Presidential material - he said very clearly -
the Congress is the Voice of the People, THE ONLY VOICE OF THE PEOPLE. Not the Senate, but only the Congress! We had better listen to the people and do as THEY say.
This Michele Bachmann reminds me of LoyalAmerican and rgodwin put together! She too is Presidential material.
Dan Burton is the one who asked for investigation of Acorn and the S10Billion they have received since 1993! This was before the videos made the news.
I'll tell you, to hear what they believe and what they are doing against all odds, it did something to me, even more than what rGodwin wrote coming from the Tea Party in Wash..

Patrick: You disparage Joe Wilson and Rush Limbaugh because of their backgrounds. You claim they know nothing of the blue collar worker. What about your leader, Obama? Is he blue collar? What about his wife Michelle? Remember Obama's arugula blunder? Take a few minutes to read about Miss Michelle and her little shopping trip to the "farmer's market" this week. Talk about elitist and out of touch with the average American. She even claimed that people could use food stamps to buy spinach that was selling for 4 bucks a pound. Hello Michelle... there are no food stamps any more.
Just so you know, Obama was lying. The next day language was written into the bill to exclude illegals from ObamaCare. But don't worry Patrick, there is always amnesty so the dems can shore up their voter base for the next election. Gee, they probably won't even need ACORN.

outlaw11: Yes, a lot of coverage was given to the K. West's act of stupidity. My thought is if it had been a white doing what he did, the media would have been all over it as a racist issue. You are correct, Taylor Swift has shown the difference between the West types of the world, whose imagined self worth far exceeds their true value and the Swift type whose quiet dignity elevated her worth to mankind a thousand fold!

I am just wondering if anyone besides me thinks some of this lack of civility could be, maybe, that we have taken GOD out of our lives. Sure lots of us go to church on Sunday but on Monday through Saturday we are back name-calling with the worst of them. I remember when I went to school we said the Pledge of Allegience in the morning and prayers before we ate lunch. I know it was a small country school and when I went to high school in town it all changed and yes that was a long time ago. But, I grew up with love of country, love of GOD, and respect in my heart. Please for your own sake before you sit down to write a blog, put GOD in your heart and truth to the keyboard. No half-truths or vial opinions please.

I am guilty for my lack of civility at times. I wish we could all write without negative comments. Until our citizens learn truth, purge themselves of negativeness and stop operating with deceit and vile intent, our humanness will show from time to time. I admire you for your civility, and thank you. You brought back some perspective!

To all of the above: I am very guilty of letting my fingers run faster than my brain at times, yet, I am happy that at 61 I can still type, have learned much about the PC/it's use, and can think for myself. With that said, people on both sides of the fence have a right to voice their opinion here, as we all have stated many times. But, as a Vet, I never served with a liberal in combat, they always found a way out...they were for the most part, lawyers, admin personnel, instructors (not combat related), special services, journalists, etc., but, not one you could trust in the field, at least not in my area of service...and, this has carried on from the Truman admin to today. The most vile and harsh statements come from liberals when they think they are on the losing side or when they feel they have the upper hand; in other words, all the time. To me personally, every time 'WE' think that we are making progress on the racial issue, Jimmy Carter, Al Sharpton, J. Jackson, MLK III, Pelosi, Holder, and even Obama, have to say something accussing the general public of racism and we are set back 50 years. And, we are subjected to an idiot like Kanye West getting air-time which he has never and does not now deserve. Yeah, I wish I could write without negative comments, but, I must stand for that which I believe and fought for the right to express myself openly...remember, SGT GORDON, gave his life for this last week...so I can speak w/o reserve, too many take our way of life as "lack-a-dasickle" and, like Kanye West, as something that is owed to them. I feel that all these comments added to comments from around the country in other areas, other newspapers, etc., will bring change...if I did not believe this, then, I would have no reason to continue, but, I have been shot at before and they missed, so I fully expect to survive, civility or not! and that's my opinion.

Downtown Pensacola was crowded Thursday around the Federal Courthouse. Two teachers were on 'trial' in federal court for saying 'the blessing' ...a prayer....in a public school. The school is under a federal Order not to pray on the premises or school grounds. 100's of students filled the sidewalks Thursday in support of their teachers and the outcome of the trial. The Federal Judge ruled that the teachers did break the law, but not 'was not intented' that they really just 'forgot' where they were at the moment. The teachers were freed after the judges one hour reveiw of the day's lengthy findings around 6:30 p.m. Thursday nite.

The Liberty Counsel did a great job. We must stand up to the ACLU and stop the attempt to destroy the Constitutional rights of Christians.
The end result is the right one. The ACLU has also tried to stop the annual "Meet me at the Pole" event on public school campuses. They lost that one, too.

I don't know if it was ever addressed on this blog regarding Obama's snub to the National Prayer Breakfast this year. I was furious when he declined to follow previous adminstrations protocol and did not have a function supporting the Prayer Breakfast! Yet he honored the Muslims with dinner at the white house at the beginning of Ramadan last month! If Christians, world wide, do not stand together, we all will be forced to point a prayer rug eastward within another generation or 2!

He sees a lot of improvements in theater since his last deployment. I am so proud of him! While I am thinking of it, to all the bloggers who care for and support our troops; please let them know. You have no idea how much it means to them. With Christmas in the not so distant future, ask your church or neighbors to send Christmas cards or notes of encouragement to those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and to other remote duty stations. It means the world to the Soldiers,Marines, Airmen, Sailors and Coast Guardsmen. Getting goody boxes from home is so appreciated too. Christians need to wake up and educate themselves about the extent to which Islam is taking root in America. You may want to research, read and compare Obama's message to Muslims on Eid al-Fitr (the last day of Ramadan) and his message to Jews on Rosh Hashanah. Also, his message to Jews is very different from the messages from past presidents.

'...point a pray rug eastward', I will never!!! This is a christain nation and must remain that way. Christains must take a stand for our rights just like we have took a stand for healthcare reform, or just like we take a stand for our rights as a minority, or freedom of speech or any other freedoms we are SUPPOSE to have. We talk about how we might not have our rights before Obadman is thru. He is not God. He can't make us worship Allah. When I think of his agenda for 'OUR' country ( not his ), It hurts me to my core.

ToldYouSo: I've thought about this myself and the only thing I can come up with is that Obama truly is just a mouthpiece. Anyone with half a brain knows he's hasn't risen to this level without help in very high places. We've seen him without his teleprompter and he's not quite so eloquent when it's not working. There are a lot of uh's in his speech pattern when the teleprompter is missing. I'm like you in that I believe he is a Muslim, but maybe he's just a bad Muslim, just like many of us are sometimes not very good Christians. If he does have someone telling him what to do, I'm sure they are the ones who really picked his cabinet. I'm not saying he's not just like them, because he has to be, in order to be a part of it all, but the one thing they were not counting on is the resolve of the American people. This little factor will hopefully destroy their plans. That's just my personal opinion, but I'd sure like to hear others.

American civil liberties union. I didn't research it good but I'm wanting to know why you call them evil? Do they go too far with their 'guarding of rights'? What about the rights of the christian to practice his/her beliefs in public or anywhere. This is suppose to be a christian nation, and when you go to a ball game you should expect to hear a prayer to God for the safety of the players and the people attending and a good game, etc. (....' if you go to a china ping-pong tournament you would expect to hear a pray to budda...').

Good Sunday Morning to everyone!
Justwingit: I feel the love you have for our Nation under God and our freedom to worship: The Bill of Rights. This is what has made us the Lighthouse Beacon for the rest of the world.
When we refer to Obama's handlers and such, I believe you know that the hounds' trail begins and ends with SATAN. His followers are blinded when Truth appears before them...thus their coarse, hatefilled language and poison arrows thrown our way, and the reason for their nickname, The Blind Ones.
Keep giving us your best thoughts. There are alot more of us that are no longer afraid to speak up. God will protect us as He has promised.

#1 We know that the Bilderbergers had given the go ahead for Obama's run for Pres. and with Acorn controlling most of the voting - we know that dead people voted for Obama and some alive voted several times under tweeks of their names - thus one reason for the scewered vote plus all the Progressive Delegates! Not only is he a doubtful citizen, an enemy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, who wears the Apron of Acorn around his neck, and all the rest...he is most likely a Muslim who has orders to Muslimize the world. But he also has visions of being the FigureHead for the 1 World Order...but so does Mikhail Gorbachev. My opinon.

#2 We know from Rep. Dan Burton, that Acorn received the large part of their 10 billion $$ from Bilderberger, George Soros, over the past 16 years they have been operating! It is Dan Burton who asked Congress to investigate Acorn.
We also know from Obama's agenda that Obama is following the Plan of the Bilderbers in taking over the Banks and handing them over at the proper time to the World Bank, thus preparing the way for the International Monatary Fund (IMF) to force a new world currency on the block nations, such as the European Union and the "in the works" Amero Union with Mexico and Canada.
Russia and China have already flashed us a prototype currency to get a reaction.
Obama is also going along with the Pandemic part of the Bilderberger's Plan for world control, by tightening the noose of the Patriot Act a few more notches. Remember the Patriot act? It's still there...but no longer on the front burner, as real Patriots stood up as they are with Healthcare and Cap n Trade. Massachusetts hasn't forgotten the Patriot act and is the forerunner for States to push us into a cage and quarantin and fine us for catching the flu.
As the pieces of the puzzle are placed in order, we can see from whence and to where this is all headed.
That's all I can think of at the moment. Anyone else?

I had asked for help understanding why with obama being a muslim and most concerned here about him forcing his muslim beliefs on us Christians, why is there an absense of muslims surrounding him?? The primary folks who financed, guided, and manipulated his election and are now in nearly ALL key positions in his Cabinet/Sub-cabinet are NOT muslims, but instead are, supposedly, the arch-enemy of the muslims...the Jews.
Oh by the way, the most hated ACLU and the SPLC/NAACP are NOT muslim organizations either but are heavy laden with Jews.
Comments please???

justwingit: I get your point on your last post about keeping our subject matter on the topic of civility. So please indulge me briefly while I answer the question you asked me regarding ACLU. I promise to return to the proper subject. :)
In my opinion, I believe ACLU started with good intentions. The 60's brought a shift in mission for them, albeit it was subtle. At that point, their mission appeared to begin to lean leftward. They say they fight for 1st Amendment rights, but that fight appears to be for anyone OTHER than Pro-Lifers or conservatives in general. I will list a few things ACLU is against: ACLU is against parents being notified if an underage daughter seeks an abortion. ACLU opposed the Partial Birth Abortion Act. The actions of ACLU causes me to believe they want to remove all evidence of America's Christian heritage and promote an atheist nation! I admit that ACLU has gone to court to protect the religious freedom of several individuals. They even sided with Jerry Falwell in one such case. However, I believe these are token cases that do not affect the masses nor do they have far reaching consequences that undermine our Christan foundation. The recent case in Pace FL, shows me what, in my opinion, is the real driving force behind ACLU. ACLU 's activity in Pace DOES undermine America's Christian foundation! I am posting a site you can review and decide for yourself.

Justwingit: Orders. Some religions force, as a means to gain Heaven under whatever name each particular religion calls Nervana - they get many women concubines in Nervana you know - it's a great incentive for men, no so much for women. They do this "recruiting" for Allah. There are many "denominations" of Islam - we are witnessing the extremists in Europe and now here. As Loyal once posted, they are here in this country. Remember Sharia?
Any religion will work, as long as it disparages Christianity. Jesus must be continually be Scourged and Crucified. Poor Jesus.
Justwingit, I believe you said God has predetermined Leaders...which is true. In this case, God has allowed this for our sakes. We have become lukewarm, spoiled children, (and we know how Jesus reacts to the lukewarm) and spoiled children eventually end up with a spanking. We are being spanked, and are expected by our Father in Heaven, to get on our knees and ask for His forgiveness and mercy, promise to be good and ask for His Blessing.
Not enough of us have done that as yet. We, who are doing our U-turn Conversio, must now pray for those who have not. It's all for our own good.
Thank you Justwingit, for bringing up some really important questions and comments. And I guess that's why Obama keeps creeping us out.

This is a Rothchild/Rockefeller clique with Jews and Gentiles, atheists, Saudi's...It's not so much a race - it's the what I refer to as Satan's Plan for Mankind for Our Era, that grabs them. They want to partaay with the Devil in disguise. That Tango Foxtrop gets every time. What a surprise when they check their seats.

Told you so: My bad, for that last dig, 10:35 am. It just popped up in my image machine.
These are the BIG BOYS we're talking about, the ones that can make or break kings and queens and presidents. Gorbachev says that Clinton was too preoccupied with extra curricular activities that got public attention, and less on promoting the New World Order. This was Clinton's mistake. They really wanted the healthcare to go into operation back then, which has slowed the progress of the BIG BOYS' Plan.
Clinton paid the price I guess you could say - Hillary didn't quite pass Go to the Presidency. But Obama did. How, you may ask.
I can just picture it. AUDITIONS FOR PRESIDENT - GET HERE EARLY!
The Rev. Wright made sure his protegee was on time for his Audition. Obama gracefully strides to center stage, giving that perfect smile, with suave charisma and velvet voice, HE SPOKE! Everything stood still for that moment in time. Then the music began as his wife meets him on stage for the "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot"! The audience swoons with delight - the appaulse was deafening! Then cries of "STOP THE AUDITIONS! WE'VE FOUND OUR MAN!"
The fairy tale continues...

justwingit : I don't believe that Obama popping up into our lives and our conversations is an accident. This man has set him up as a God and it is sickening at the number of people who have fallen in line and treat him as such. The part that wasn't planned is the part about conservative freedom loving Americans waking up out of the sleep we have been in for years and standing up and speaking out strong against Obama and his anti American socialist agenda. We have the opportunity as American voters to start cleaning up this mess in 2010. If we don't clean it up, we will be doing a great disservice to our families and country that may never get corrected.

bluecollarguy: Civility in one word: Polite. There is a polite gesture I have noticed that continues in Andalusia. I am sure this gesture occurs elsewhere, but I am so proud it is still part of our local fabric of politeness, honor and respect. That gesture is showing respect for the deceased by pulling over your auto until the funeral procession passes. I would venture to say it is a practice mostly in the South, if not only in the South! This public respect means so much to the family.

L.A.: Funerals and cars stopping to let mourners by!
Coming from another part of the country to this part of the country, THAT was my first heartwarming impression of the people here. The other was seeing whole families stay with their loved one in the hospital 24 hours, kind of moving in. The hospital in turn, perfectly agreed and knew this as beneficial for the patient. I'm not sure if this is the case now in Andy, but certainly in Georgianna and Opp.
A friend of ours from out of State came to visit us for a week in the summertime a few years after we moved here. We had a big family garden and our kids all helped with it. She loved the fresh vegetables and fresh cow's milk. We ate homemade bread with homemade butter. Everyone was pretty much on the same page. People moved at a slower pace, waved as they met cars (some still do that), concerned about neighbor. Being a writer, she noticed all these nuances of country life in C.C..
She wrote a beautiful letter to us upon returning to Florida and called the people who live here THE SALT OF THE EARTH.

Shamrock: "Salt of the earth people" in our area is a great description. My mother developed MERSA infection a while back after a hospital stay. Daily, she would receive telephone calls, morning and evening, telling her to check the doorknob on an outside door. ToldYouSo: I don't have a quick answer for your question. Just some thoughts. The more immediate goal is to, as so accurately stated by Star Parker, get the American people on the government plantation. The more people on the plantation, the more control. The larger goal is to move toward and eventually have a global government. Most American Jews are very liberal. That is the main reason they have supported Obama. It is not a matter of Judaism vs Islam. It is a matter of moving American into a socialist/communist government. One of the amazing things is that these Jewish people are wealthy due to capitalism yet they want to destroy it. For some strange reason, they think they will be immune to the resulting society and in some ways will. They will have the money and power to get what the rest of us have to depend on the government to provide. There is also the matter of Jews who seem to hate their Jewishness. It was reported (but later denied) that Netanyhu said that of Rahm Emmanuel.

While I think we are in danger of violent terrorist attacks, there are much more subtle ways for Islam to slowly change our culture. Look at what is happening in Europe. One slow but sure way is to increase population. Remember, Islam is inherited. Yes, people can convert, but it passed from generation to generation. It was reported in 2006 that in Great Britain the birth rate of Muslims was three times that of non-Muslims. There are many cases of Muslims demanded and even filing law suits (using our Constitution and freedom of religion) to get special treatment. Ex. taxi drivers refusing fares carrying alcohol, refusing fares to passengers with service dogs, requiring special areas for prayer... the list goes on. Google the name Rifqa Bary to learn about a young American woman who is in hiding for fear her father will kill her because she converted to Christianity. Honor killings have already taken place in North America.
On the topic of the ACLU. This organization had ties to communism from the start. As early as 1931 Congress investigated the ALCU and its communist stand. Here is a quote from one of the founders Baldwin. "I am for Socialism, disarmament and ultimately, for the abolishing of the State itself ... I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal." This quote was made around 15 years after the founding of the ACLU.

WAtidefan: This has always been something I can not wrap my mind around; With the memory of socialistic Nazi Germany, how can any Jewish person support left wing socialist/communistic ideas. I simply can not get it! Does no one ever learn from horrors of the past? Do the Jews not understand history is repetitive when we forget past horrors? Instead of the markings that identified the Jews to the Nazi's, they need a big L on their forehead!

ToldYouSo: My quick answer is that to put observant Muslims in his inner circle would be too blatant and in your face. It is safer for him to send subtle and not so subtle messages to Muslims that he is in their camp. His inner circle isn't pushing any faith at all other than secularism.
A Jew does not have to be religious. Many are non-observant. Many are like CEO Christians (Christmas and Easter only) and go to synagogue only on High Holy Days and do not observe Shabbat.
Also, we do not know that he does not have Muslims in place. How many people would have thought that America would elect a president who spend 20 years in a church with a man like Rev. Wright as his pastor and mentor? Or elect a president with proven, documented ties and friendships with the likes of BIll Ayers? I would never have believed it.

WAtidefan : to me, any Muslim at any level in our government is one Muslim too many! We are the infidels that Muslims want to kill, so we really need them is positions of power to make it easier for them to do their job. We as Americans have really dropped the ball to let our government become this corrupt. I honestly don't know who to trust anymore when it comes to elected officials or anyone in government. I received something earlier on "agenda 21". I googled it and it just made me feel even more discouraged and I don't like feeling that way. I just wish I knew the truth about the few officials that we have in government who are truly interested in saving our country and our constitution. I'm so proud of the citizens that are awake and finally realize that we are in danger of losing our freedom and our American way of life if we don't stop this administration from implementing the policies it has planned. May God help us and God bless America

Friends, I got so frustrated last night. After I posted at 7:26, my computer would not let me view any comments only the article. After shutting down and restarting, I went to Loyal, and rg.'s comments to try to keep up but got very frustrated.
LA, it must have been when you were out of town but Winkie kept trying to get everyones attention about that site. No one commented on it and Winkie told us over and over to check it out. I went to it and the chanting actually creeped me out. I had my daughter over to see it and together we looked thru it. Thank you Winkie. Now I'm so glad you, LA, got to see it and are going to do something about it. I was in dispair after I went there.

LoyalAmerican: Can you please explain to us what in h...is going on in Afghan. - McChrystal is begging for troops and Obama wants to wait 6 weeks!

Shamrock, have you been to that islamoncapital site?
Posted by LoyalAmerican (anonymous) on September 21, 2009 at 7:56 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Shamrock: Earlier this year, when Obama sent 21,000 troops to Afghanistan, he made it clear to military leaders, they "better not ask for more troops for at least a year". Since he is totally inept regarding military needs, I find his remark out of touch and plainly ignorant! Senior adviser's support General Jim Jones and Gen McChrystal. BUT Rahm Emanuel wants Obama out of Afghanistan. Emanuel thinks staying the course will cause Obama's administration to mirror that of LBJ's! All the liberals are searching for an exit strategy, which in my opinion, is surrender to the terrorists. The democrats that keep the McGovern-Carter way of thinking and the Banner of the Weak flying have been wrong about almost every foreign policy for over 30 years. So in my opinion, Obama wants more time because he is clueless, never had boots on the ground, Rahm has no idea either, never served a day in a battle zone, he just wants to ensure he gets another term of power in the white house. Neither of them care about Afghani's, Americans, Poles, Czechs, Iraqi's, you name it. Power is the only thing they want so they will sacrifice lives for 6 weeks so they can see how the winds are blowing and polls are shifting!

Loyal: Thank you for this information. 6 weeks will be the first week in November and daylight saving time ends.
Justin Shuver: please go to the islamoncapital site. Please report this in the Star News. Boone should run it in all their newspapers. Do this for our country, Justin.

I knew that posting the "islam on the capitol" site was going to be very hard for any patriot to deal with. It is sickening. What do the democrats feel about this? Is it just another chance to hold hands and sing Kum Ba Ya? I am outraged that a group who, has thousands of its members promoting killing the infidels (you and me), are using the landmarks of our nation to promote their agenda!

From all your comments, rgodwin et al, I see this is the TIME to seriously implore God to have mercy on us...on the whole world!
Again, I ask, where are the Ministers on this? Enough already. If anyone reading this would give a print out of what is written here to their pastors, and ask him to propose ongoing prayer vigils, in different peoples homes if need be, for God's mercy upon us. NOW IS THE TIME!
We must unite our prayers and our actions to God. Continue to awaken your neighbors and officials, and form prayer groups.
The clock continues to tick.

Toldyouso: By 'coincidence' I took a peek at Book TV last night - a Jew named Norman Podhoretz was talking about his lastest book called WHY ARE JEWS LIBERALS?
Just as I sat down to listen to him, company came calling for dinner, but I did jot down a few things very quickly.
"Liberalism is Jews' religion. It is the most important thing in their life - it is the highest thing."
"They fear Christianity."
"Bush was purposely attacked because Bush was a born again Christian - they hated Bush for all the wrong reasons."
"Jewish women and the right to have abortions...as well as gay rights...the number of Jewish women having abortions is off the charts."
I have to get this book.

Justin Shuver wrote an editorial about a subject I've been talking about to my family for the last 20 years. Civility,..and social manners. All my children know the rules of Social Graces, as I had them all read them at home when they would reach about 12 or so. The problems that I encountered was that 'none of the of children' at school and different places knew proper etiquette and made fun of
me teaching it.
Now we have produced a society were no one 'practices' civility unless maybe at work, or certain churches. Also, civility should be used, in my opinion, in this forum. After all this IS the 'Front Page' of the local newspaper, and not a Yahoo Chat Room where you can 'create' your own room and chat away 'all nite long' on whatever subject you desire and 'instill' fear and discord until daylight.
My opinion, and only just an opinion, I feel the space here should be utilized for local issues, praises where deserved, and 'oversight' when called for...........

I looked at this for some intelligent comment to respond to but found only neo conservatives patting each other on the back. My time is limited so I will agree with what the Senator that told his constituent at his town meeting. It is more productive to talk with the coffee table.
I will offer an interesting insight from a doctor in Baltimore. "Only in America does the decision of who will be given medical care start in the Senate Finance Committee." Decide if every American will have access to equal medical care first. If it is decided to let those without economic means die, then no action is required. A tuff Christian choice! Death or Money!!!

Isnt is interesting how much of Mathew 24 we are seeing come about now??
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.
"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Patrick: The topics on this particular thread run from civility, or lack thereof, to ACLU- Muslims in Obama's administration-troop strength in Afghanistan- Liberal Jews- Matthew 24- ABC News- Islamics gathering at our nation's capitol this weekend and finally your post regarding health care. Where have you read neoconservatives "patting each others back"? I asked for democrats to express their views regarding the website on the Islamic gathering this coming weekend. No responses as of yet. You are the only liberal posting. You made no mention of the Islamic gathering, yet you swipe conservatives for having honest discussions regarding deep concerns. Everyone posting has made intelligent comments. Remember, the core topic is civility. If you have a problem with the Senate Finance Committee, then voice your concerns to its Democratic chairman, Max Baucus. As you know there are 13 Democrats and 10 Republicans on that committee. Your party has the majority, so blame them for creating the choice of "Death or Money"!

Bluecollarguy: I've decided to read your past posts out of curiousity. I have a profile forming.
You are retired either as an employee of the City or County. You live in the Florala area now, if not outside the County. You dislike schools for allowing and probably promoting incivility. And for whatever reasons, you immensely dislike Straughn School, its teachers, principals, coaches and the people who live in the area of Straughn School, calling it Nepotism, because they are all entertwined in a take over of the school officials. You did apologize for what you accused them of.
You want to make the rules of who blogs, the content of what is to be blogged on a given subject, and how late we can blog. You like to reminisce about the past and give us particulars about C.C. as you remember it. And you are Baptist. Am I even close? Just asking for the halibut.

What has been posted on this thread, less my "breathers", is absolutely the most precise, concise and articulate I have ever read or hope to read! I'm not the only one that says this. Just because some don't post - they are reading and learning and passing on the information.
The Patricks, Estros, Iamb's, and Purelogics cannot hold a candle to the likes of you all! They just mumble jumble whatever, and think believe they won the game. But they do give kindle for the fire.

Kathy Stephens: You have brought up an excellent point. I believe the people posting here have done what you've suggested. And that's why they have the knowledge and the courage to have their lamps filled with oil, but also, as the Apostle Paul, they cannot be silent when evil comes in sheep's clothing.
One thing that we must be careful of is fear. Fear comes from the Devil. We must trust God and His Word. The best thing about the world's situation is that we know the end of the Book - the Victory is God's. We are His children who trust in His omnipotent, all-present, all powerful and all loving attributes. We must fear nothing! Just as Daniel feared nothing! Just as St. Joan of Arc sacrificed herself for her beloved France against tyranny, we too must be brave and go forward, as Soldiers of Christ.
Our weapons are simply, Truth.
Thank you for posting, keep it coming and pass the information on, especially to your minister!

Obama said Sunday he didn't know Acorn was getting much money, but his stimulus bill has $8.5 billion earmarked for them. Either $8.5 billion isn't much money to Obama or Joe Wilson was correct. My money is on Joe, but then $8.5 billion may not be much to someone who has proposed trillions in spending of our tax dollars.

rgodwin: Does it really surprise you that Obama said he knows nothing? He reminds me of Shultz on Hogan's Heroes....."I know nuh-sing"! Obama has a health care debacle on his hands and he spends time on Letterman. America has soldiers needing support and Obama is playing basketball today rather than being in deep discussion with the Joint Chiefs. America is drowning with debt problems and Obama is doing a blitz on Sunday news programs rather than working toward a solution to stop deficit spending. Does he EVER work? He had vacation less than a month ago. He needs to stop acting like a celebrity and act like the leader for the free world!

Thanks justwingit:
'getting nicer' may be because the Blind Ones have gone to more fertile pastures.
Rgodwin - $8.5 billion stimulus? Shazam! Rep. Dan Burton said they've already had access to $10 billion!
And Beck explained George Soros' role as Mr. Money Bags for Acorn also. There must be unbelievable corruption going on in that nest of vipers. They've been slithering around under our noses for 16 years.
As I write these figures, billions - trillions, what's after trillions, zillions? It's crazy time. The numbers seem like play money in Monopoly. And these Senators and Congressmen flick a switch and here comes Santa. Could we have imagined anything like this just a few years ago?

I called offices of Sessions and Shelby today regarding the Islamic website. The reception I received from Sessions office was warm and willing to listen. Shelby's phone person rubbed me the wrong way almost from hello. After asking if the senator's office is aware of the Islamic gathering this Saturday, her first sentence was , "Yes we are aware and this office will not attempt to intervene, they DO have a 1st amendment right". I told her the 1st amendment was not the issue; I want Sen Shelby to be aware of the content of the website. I also reminded her it is MY 1st amendment right to voice my objection to this event and as Sen Shelby's employer, it is his obligation to listen to my objection.

Since Teddy passed, the State of Massachusetts has gone completely mad.
Now, they have decided to be the first State to track flu shots. www.boston.com
"Using technology originally developed for mass disasters, Boston disease trackers are embarking on a novel experiment - one of the first in the country - aimed at eventually creating a citywide registry of everyone who has had a flu vaccination." (?)
That on top of $1,000 fines or jail time for refusing State ordered flu shots.

LoyalAmerican @ 8:59 Exactly! As I posted earlier, when the going gets tough, Obama goes back to campaigning.
There is a little good news on the ObamaCare front. It seems that AP has called Obama on his claim that his healthcare reform would save 2 trillion in 10 years. The piece headline reads: SPIN METER: $2 trillion in health savings? Where?
CBS reports on the "Five Health Care Promises Obama Won't Keep". Oh, the savings has gone up to 4 trillion per Obama twice this month.

So Obama needs to pretend he is the leader of the free world, even though in real life, we know he is not. Maybe when he grows up he can be a community organizer....for ACORN! justwingit: King David put Uriah on the front line in a battle and at the most intense part of the battle, he withdrew his troops and Uriah was killed. Obama should be sent to Afghanistan and put on the front line for just a few minutes and let him feel what it's like for our soldiers to have their lives in danger every day. He may have a different attitude after that, but I doubt it. He was raised to be what he is and so he's far left that he will always be a loser.

rg, Acutally I am not the first nor last to believe in the "controlled media" idea. Before it was abruptly pulled from the airwaves (I heard it reported ONCE) President Richard Nixon (on those infamous tapes) spoke about his concerns of the Jewish control of our media! However, the man with whom he spoke, and agreed with Nixon wholeheartedly, was the Rev. Billy Graham!
Course, other notables were Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. George Brown, Sen J. William Fulbright, Spiro T. Agnew...who just happened to be the sitting Vice President of the United States at that time. ALL suffered greatly for their expressed opinions.

You all are so melodramatic. You sit on here and bash our president and ''rgodwin" (bless his heart) has the nerve to bring a story from the bible into this. Does President Obama do anything right in your eyes? I'd bet your answer would be no. Reason why?...because you all have made it up in your minds a long long time ago that he's not your choice and since you didn't want him to begin with then you'll try your best and tear him down. I would highly encourage all of you to re-check your dislikes for President Obama. Where did it all start? Find the root! It seems to me that your differences go way deeper than policies. Matter fact I'd bet my bottom dollar that the majority who dislike President Obama do so out of prejudice. Disagree with him, fine; however understand that there's a thin line between being disagreeable and being disrespectful.

No sir/mam this one is on you. You have every right to disagree with our president. The rotteness your refering to is your own doing. You had a vote and I'm sure you cast it. The majority decided in favor for Mr. Obama so here we are. I do hope your differences with our president only have to do with his policies and not the fact that his tan is better than yours. Either way its goes he's still our president. He was yesterday, he is today, and will still be after my blog is posted. I also don't agree with everything the man says but I do respect his position. With a phrase like 'rotten beans' I can't help to remember that we're in the south..a.k.a..the bible belt. On that note here's the verse for the day: "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities," wrote the apostle Paul. Laboe: I hope you know your history about President's of Color. I have no problem with Obamas color. He is not the 'first' President of color. W.G. Hardin was a man of 'true 'color. His Grandmother was an African Slave girl. No he is not my President, sorry. My President would have went to the Breakfast with the other Christians at the usual White House gathering but no Obama declined and decided to celebrate Ramadon with Islam. My President would never censor speech., or tell a Governor he could NOT run for that office. Obama is from the house of Ishmel I am from the house of Issac. I do not believe in the suppresion of women. By the way, how many times have you seen Michell give a speech or be seen in the public. Not much and you wont either because Arabs don't let their women be in the public eye. If you don't believe me just pay attation. I disagree with the Congress. They have turned the water off in California off which causes the people to be on welfar and recieve can food and makes our produce go up in price. I didn't like Bush policies either, heck every President has had a hand in the downfall of America. Especially Carter the dumb but.But Obama wants to 'CONTROL' every aspect of our lives.NOT. How can we trust anybody with power? I agree God did appoint him but God also let Lucifer play around with Job.

Hit some other newspapers where the pasturs are less guarded. Or you can learn alot from reading all the threads. Best thoughts, newcomer.

Obama has used his color to attract the crook's who work for him. He is muslim 100%. There are Czars who will implement the Sherie Law into our Us Laws by useing Cruelity to Animals Act (Muslims dont eat meat). It seems to me like the same thing was going on at the North Creek Animal Shelter that was going on in the Acorn bust. Both businesses were being run on the same princpials. Donation's and corruption and no animal or no human really got what they were promised. The money goes in the pockets of the Founder's. winkie: "Obama has used his color to attract the crook's who work for him. He is muslim 100%. There are Czars who will implement the Sherie Law into our Us Laws by useing Cruelity to Animals Act (Muslims dont eat meat). It seems to me like the same thing was going on at the North Creek Animal Shelter that was going on in the Acorn bust. "
What a perfect combination of ignorance and insanity!
First, the name of Islamic law is Sharia. "Sherie law" (sic) refers to the legal workings of our former Probate Judge, Sherrie Phillips.
Somehow this imbecile winkie has concluded that the Cruelty to Animals Act is a secret Muslim threat. We know winkie, morecowbell, shamrock, rgodwin, WAtidefan, and kathystephens don't think for themselves, being loyal, right-wing Christian storm troopers, they just repeat what they have been told to believe. So, where is this nonsense about cruelty to animals laws coming from? Here are some hints: what cable network keeps repeating misleading "news" about ACORN, Czars, Muslims, and Obama? You got it! Fox News.

Estragon: Why do liberals go after Fox news Channel? There is one segment on Fox, Bret Baier, that I do enjoy watching . His panels are very interesting. Also, on Fox, I listen to liberals, Juan Williams and Bob Beckel, not so much Alan Colmes. There is something about him that just annoys me. I commented once, wondering why Juan did not run for president! Another question or two, What do you think about the Islamic gathering in DC 9-25? Also, what stories are misleading regarding ACORN? 60 Minutes used to do the same type of undercover journalism that brought a bright light shining on ACORN. I loved it when they did it too!
Lastly, I find it ironic you would call someone an imbecile in a column title "What Happened to Our Civility?" There may be misspelled words, incorrect punctuation, etc., by all posters, but we do get the gist of their meaning. I did like your humorous tie in to Phillips! Please answer my questions....civilly.

Estragon: I also would like to know what the misleading reports are on ACORN, Obama, czars, and Muslims. Please enlighten us with specifics. Since you insist that all conservatives posting on the Star News have no original thoughts, why do your thoughts mirror those of other liberals? So, every thing you post is absolutely your original thought and no one else has EVER had the same thoughts? Not even close.
You refer to me as a storm trooper. Christianity does teach that it may be necessary for a Christian to be martyred for belief in Christ. We are not taught that we will enter heaven and gain favor with our God by taking others with us. Suicide/homcide is not martyrdom. You take every opportunity to bash Christians. Here are some questions for you. What do you think would happen to homosexuals if we lived under Sharia law? If our government was a theocracy (Islamic) how long would Hollywood continue to make films? Do you think they would produce films that attack Allah and Muslims the way they attack Christianity?

While you all were blogging, I was watching the hated Glenn Beck explain the Blind Ones game plan - it is from the National Endowment of the Arts and their 'service' to help beat down conservatives, and esp. conservative Christians locally - they've been caught on tape once again gathering their slaves for the mission on conference calls.
This is why WE spend our energies defending our views and they continue to accuse us of the same same same things. Like the broken record Mr. Philosopher played for us on 3:33 pm which gave away his true identity.
They all remind me of cranky, crusty old tars.
Well you all can keep trying to convince them, but I see no point in it after such a long time of playing this game with these Blind Mice. We're here to educate sincere people, like myself, justwingit, Mickey et al, for an example.
Say you salty dogs: there's plenty of other pastures with fertilizer piled high for you romp around in. Lot's a bull too. You can report your progress to your boss from there.

winkie: your 4:05pm post had me cracking up. Anyone that matters gets the jest of what bloggers mean even if there are some misspelled words. It takes an arrogant elitist to even bring it up. I also don't understand why some people think having a degree makes them smart. Some of the most, both ignorant and stupid people who think that they are superior in every way write on this blog, but being smart has nothing to do with their scholastic achievements. Just because you've passed test to get a degree, still has nothing to do with being smart. Some of the smartest people I know never finished elementary school and surely never went to college, but have achieved more than most of those who were able to complete their educations. We are always learning if we're smart. The danger lies in thinking you know it all, like is often demonstrated among the elite.

Children in government schools will have no meat, cheese or milk for lunch.
We will not be allowed to exterminate mice or rats from our homes. After all, rats are on the same level as we are.
Read his thesis (books)- there's much, much more. He's also one of the Blind Ones. Note, no one mentions HIM and his looney tunes ideas. "I'm so mad I could scweem! No more shooting wabbits! - Where's that darn wabbit!"
This is information hidden from us until Beck let the cat out of the bag - no pun intended.
That is the dream of an egg head, again no pun intended, who sees Nervana once we become new age socialists. La dee da!!!

It seems punked is a reference to an MTV hidden camera show, which explains why I was in the dark on it. I don't have much time to watch the music television, and surely never seen that show. Hello LA,
I see what you are saying, but people can change and not always for the worse. Not all folks are given an equal chance at a great childhood. These folks that find their way, I would by no means consider them hollow individuals.
I do agree with you, the best place and probably the easiest place to install a value system is in the youth, and about 70% or better before the age of about 6 or 7.

Here is some helpful information for you guys and gals:
South Central Alabama Mental Health Center employs 130 staff members and is certified by the Department of Mental Health / Mental Retardation. South Central is a comprehensive community mental health center serving Mentally Ill, Mentally Retarded, and Substance Abuse consumers for Butler, Coffee, Covington, and Crenshaw Counties. Andalusia is the Main Center for South Central and houses Administration, Business and Clinical Offices as well as Outpatient and Day programs. The Board also operates the Montezuma Facility, a 25,000 square foot facility, now undergoing renovation following a severe blow from Hurricane Ivan on September 16, 2004. The Board’s Annual Public Meeting is held on the third Thursday of October at the Main Center.
Contact Info:
South Central Alabama Mental Health Center
19815 Bay Branch Road
Andalusia, Alabama 36420
phone: (334) 222-2523
fax: (334) 427-8615
I am surprised that the Mental Health Center only employs 130 people. The bloggers on the Andalusia Star News blog alone could keep that number of mental health workers busy. Between paranoid, right-wing delusions and Christianity-induced psychosis, our area of the world is a virtual nut house.
By the way, Muslims do eat meat. There is even a process they follow in slaughtering the animals that is similar to the Jewish Kosher laws. In Muslim law of food preparation is known as "Halal."
And, for the record, I detest all forms of religious fundamentalism, whether it be Muslim, Christian, Hindu, or Southern Baptist.

That is the story with these leftists. Once the truth starts to emerge they have to spin. They are chamillions. The inside never changes, but the external changes to match the situation. They lie without conscience. And, yes, I am including Obama in the mix. Today in his speech at the UN summit on global warming, he lied about his presidency. He had the nerve to say that the US has done more in the last 8 months to reduce carbon pollution than in any other time in our history. What a crock! And the hypocrisy of the summit boggles the mind. Humans can, just so you know, change and control the weather and in turn control the climate. Not sure how we will control solar activity, but I'm sure Obama will figure it out. After all, liberal Bill Gates wants to control hurricanes by changing the temperature of ocean water. Talk about environmental pollution! Bill knows soft ware but not much about the ocean.

Animals need to be protected and nurtured - we are the bad aggressors - it's okay we share our body parts, like it or not in Nervana happy land where we share EVERYTHING.
I don't know how a looney tunes creator thinks, but they make me laugh.

I can just remember some of the things and start laughing all over again - my spouse is wondering what's so darnfunny now! Should I share? Guess you have to have begun at the beginning to see the humor. None of it could've happened without logic, the "philosopher" who never quite comes to a conclusion. He shocked me with his mumble jumble. And estrogen.
I'll be leaving for the afternoon - so hold down the fort, Winkie. B.O will be speaking to the world.

People! I just walked by TV and saw the most ugly person alive speaking at the UN. He is so ugly he could stop a clock!! I just stood there and though, Quaddfi looks like the face of a camel. They could have at least put some make up on him!
Actually, on second stare, I believe he is the scaarrryy clown at the Circus!
I had to leave the room.

Qauddafi the camel - actually his face resembles a dead camel. He obviously stays out of the desert sun and in his tent! How can the U.N. people keep straight faces as he speaks!!! And he is going to The Museum tonight with all the heads of State? I wonder what he'll wear? Makeup artists, please, help this man!!!

LOL Shamrock!! You are on a roll girl!! Thank you for the complements but justwingit and I were trying to be as nice as possible.Sorry I was busy sence early morn. Planted turnips , mustard , radishes and collards. I am beat and with Church to night... Oh well.I'll rest tomorrow. NOW about Qauddafi.... this is one man that can use the Mental Health Center. That dummie put a tent up just like he were still at home. I guess he doesn't feel at home haveing toilet paper and a toilet seat to sit on in the mornings because they only have holes in the floor/ground along with a bucket of sand handy. Never shake hands with a Arab, especially the left hand. Now you know why they hug and kiss the cheek. ;) By the way the Right hand is for eating and the Left hand is for wipeing. In the desert there isn't much water for bathing so they light incences and stand over the smoke to cover the Smell. I'm not makeing fun but I am telling the truth. I'm glad I was not sitting 5ft. from him during his 90min. speech. Oh ooo that smellllll and it aint reffer either but would probly have the same effect on the mind. rgodwin: Yes SOME muslems eat meat but very few do. I was in Lebannon for a year and yes they eat sheep veil on special occacions. Vegetables, fish, chic., milk, goat cheese, tea and bread are mostely what they eat. Sweets... they consune enourmous amounts of pure sugar formed to look like candy. Qauddafi will wear a flowing traditional robe smelling like a camel.

Fateema, the girl with bells on her toes and rings in her nose, she swings and she flows and dreams of her Bow. She can dance and sing sweet songs of love but deep in her heart she knows she will be # 9 in line. The gingle and gangle are but just a show and tonite she is the show, while in the morn. shes just #9 with no mind and life of her own. If Fateema only knew what freedom was she would dance her way all the way out the door instead of down on the floor. Not very good but its all I could think of. When I do think about these girls/women I feel so sorry for them because they are SLAVES to men like Qauddafi. She probly has 7 children for him and they donot attend school but work to support the family. I've seen it a stretch limo. pull up at the supermarket and as many as 8 covered women get out and form a line by Order( first wife is the boss of all the other women) waiting for their husband to walk to front of the line. With heads down they follow the leader (man) and wait their turn to ask what they can buy. The man always pays the bill for each woman, although she gives him the money that her children have earned. If she wants something special she has to ask and hope hes in a good mood or its her night to share his bed. Bunch of CRAP, don't ya think? Freedom is VALUABLE if you don't believe it walk in an Arab womans shoes just once. FREEDOM FOR ALL WOMEN !! DOWN WITH SHARIA LAW.

General McChrystal says he needs 20,000 more troops or we will lose in Afghanistan. Apparently McChrystal is wrong because Hillary said so. After all, there is no way an experienced battle hardened, experienced general could ever know as much her. She has defeated, destroyed and buried anyone who has ever gotten in her way, but she is a total idiot to even pretend that she knows more than General McChrystal and she and Obama both are playing politics while we have men and women dieing to protect their sorry butts. If Obama is not going to give our soldiers what they need for victory, he needs to bring them home, but we should finish the job. If we leave before the job is finished, it will be even worse and we may see war on American soil. I don't think any of us want that.

ACORN Sues Hidden-Camera Filmmakers
Wednesday, September 23, 2009 5:25 PM
BALTIMORE -- Community activist group ACORN is suing the makers of a hidden-camera video that showed employees of its Baltimore office giving tax advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman posing as a prostitute.
The liberal group contends that the audio portion of the video was obtained illegally because Maryland requires two-party consent to create sound recordings.
The two employees seen in the video were fired after it was posted online. The lawsuit says the employees, Tonja Thompson and Shera Williams, suffered "extreme emotional distress."
The multimillion-dollar lawsuit seeks damages from James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles, who played the pimp and prostitute in the videos, and from conservative columnist Andrew Breitbart, who posted the videos on his Web site.
This has to be the most corrupt organization on the planet and they only exist because they are funded with yours and my tax dollars!

Barack Obama’s campaign pledge that he wouldn’t sign any non-emergency legislation passed by Congress until after it has been posted on the web for five days is about to be broken again! Are we truly surprised? Yesterday the Senate Finance Committee voted down a GOP amendment requiring that Obamacare legislation be available online 72 hours before the panel votes. Democrats opposing the amendment called it “a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks,” refusing, to even let the public see what they plan to ram down our throats. So much for the most transparent administration in history. I sure hope everyone remembers this when we go to the polls and get the opportunity to start changing things next year.

winkie: you must be on a crack pipe. Obama impeached over ACORN. Give me a break.
I wonder why winkie, WATideFan, MoreCowBell, and R.Godwin (and all his friends at ResistNet.com) aren't celebrating today the homicide of the census worker in Kentucky. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32991672/ns/...
Bill Sparkman: a single dad, working 2 jobs to raise his family, a substitute teacher who took a job as a census worker to supplement his income, was found hanging from a tree with "fed" scrawled on his chest. Sparkman's mother, Henrie Sparkman of Inverness, Fla., told The Associated Press her son was an Eagle scout who moved to Kentucky to direct the local Boy Scouts of America. He later became a substitute teacher in Laurel County, adjacent to the county where his body was found.
Folks, this homicide appears to be the tragic consequence of ignorance-inspired, racist-fueled hatred of the federal government. Unless you right-wing conservatives learn change your rhetoric and start rationally discussing policy rather than making wild, untrue, and paranoid allegations, this atmosphere of extremism and intolerance will only get worse.
Posted by LoyalAmerican (anonymous) on September 24, 2009 at 1:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Estragon: The apparent murder of Mr. Sparkman is a tragedy. I think you are off base making a statement that anyone, who submits opinions to this forum would celebrate or rejoice such a horrific crime. After reading the article, I am not so sure that Mr. Sparkman was murdered because he was a census worker. Decades ago, when "revenuers" were out and about in the hills of Kentucky, they met with some serious foes. With the local law enforcement describing the area Mr. Sparkman was in as drug infested, there is no telling what the murderer had going on in their head. I hope the murderer is found and brought to justice and never sees the light of day again!
I wonder why the story of Mr. Sparkman is just now being reported?
One point I would like to make is; not only do we have right wing extremist, we also have left wing extremist. NEITHER is good for America. Let us not confuse Ruby Ridge type inhabitants with mainstream-to -the-right conservatives. In turn, I will not confuse mainstream-to-the-left liberals with Weather Underground or any other left wing radicals. I do not hate the US Federal gov't. I do not like many policies and I do not like the overabundance of government intrusion in my life. However, there is never any chance in this world, under any circumstance, would I ever promote physical harm to anyone in our gov't. I handle my disapproval by venting steam and then casting my vote.

Again to the any BO defender: Voter fraud through Acorn is being investigated. Voting machines should be under Brinks guard, so none of the peaNuts get inside to reconfigure the machines to have every other ten votes to go the opposing party, esp. in local elections throughout the country. Access to them is a no brainer.
I have no reason to trust my vote will be for whom I voted via those machines.
My opinion if you please.

This war between the house of Issac and Ishmael will continue until one or the other is gone. Iran has stayed dorment for decades but now they have a man who will blow the whole world away just because of Israel.Overall else what is happening today in America is a direct link to these two religion's. B. Netanyahu will not stand still much longer, however I cannot condone the building of more settlement's on the West Bank. Israel just needs to be satisfied with the land they have, but they won't they will keep building. I think in a few weeks we will see how Israel reacts to Iran. God help us all. : Just my opinion.

Regarding civility, I find it to be a striking contrast between DC conservative, right wing protesters this past September 12 and the left wing radical protesters in Philadelphia today. I wonder if this contrast is what was meant by another poster today who wrote, "this atmosphere of extremism and intolerance will only get worse"? Not one conservative protester was arrested, not one canister of tear gas had to be fire into the crowd in DC. Such a contrast to the riot police having to take charge in Philly today. Yes, extremist intolerance DID get worse! Left wing protesters always encourage civil disobedience from their fellow participants. Conservative protesters are the absolute polar opposite!

This is came today from the F.Crombette Forum. ("If the World Only Knew" is a book capsulizing Crombette's great works):
" "If the World Only Knew", p. 146. It is to be remarked that the changes in the vowels and of certain consonants greatly facilitated multiple readings, and thus the practice of Magic. The 'genius of the scribes' provided a locking of such a sort, that the multiple transcriptions could "never" contradict each other (within the same meaning, of course). But through the word-play of the 'double reading, they knew how to conceal, behind an APPARENTLY INNOCENT TEXT, a MAGICAL HOMOPHONE INCANTATION.
"Does anyone else scratch their head at this ability of the scribes to put together hieroglyphics in such a way that they have multiple simultaneous non-contradictory meanings?"
Still in the spirit of Omar-ic frivolity, I decided to post on the forum: "I'm trying out some Initials my grandaughter thought I should be using when blogging. These are the ones I know: BTW,LOL,ROTFL, TTYL, and one I made up when referring to Obama: BO (stands for him, also the Blind Ones, and body odor). The BO's are his Progressive defenders who harrass conservative Chritians on blogs."
Minutes later G.G. responds with: "See, here is another example: "BO" having several simultaneous non-contradictory meanings."
My reponse: "Are you saying that BO may be magical? Or are you saying I have the genius of an ancient Scribe to make an innocent looking homophone into an incatation? I believe some of the school children in New Jersy, led by their teacher, are incanting (chanting), "Barack Obama, Barack Obama, we follow Barack Obama! over and over again. So it would be BO, BO, we(....)BO!"
Maybe you see as I do, that these rhyming children's incantations can be considered magical, and have been used as a trick by Magicians since the days of ancient Egypt.
Moral: there is nothing new under the sun. Wake up, America!

rgodwin: Yes I saw this unbelievable sight. It reminded me of communistic indoctrination a la Mao, Stalin, Chavez style. If my child had been required to take part in anything remotely resembling that type of indoctrination, I would have taken the roof off! How dare the educational system for allowing children to be involved in ANYTHING political! Elementary schools should be politically neutral!!
Private school or home schooling is looking better and better!

LoyalAmerican: regarding your 7:13pm post today, Conservative protesters are the absolute polar opposite than the left wing radical protesters that were in Philadelphia today, because the right wing angry mob in Washington on September 12th not only caused a zero amount of trouble, we also picked up our trash before we left. I bet you if the police had their choice of which protesters they had rather control, they would pick the conservative right wing angry mob every time. We know that anger and violence are two different things and we know where to direct our anger.

LoyalAmerican: Yes indeed. Today, Hugo Chavez in Venezuela is using this 'incantationing', forcing this on children in Catholic schools - while their parents are revolting in the streets against the branwashing of socialism into their children's minds.

Yes rgodwin, let's not forget there are minions who wait to be called into 'service' to aggressively agitate and as it were, throw the 1st punch and pretend to be right extremeists at these rallies, kind of like Hitler Germany. Some are paid.
WAtidefan, will remember the mess these minions caused in Wash and Oregon some years back - black masked terrorists.
We can look for more of the same.

LoyalAmerican: if we don't stop his dictorial march very soon, home schools and private schools will become illegal. These are total liberal slime balls who don't intend to tolerate anyone who isn't in lockstep with the suppression of opinions they want to enforce.

Yes rgodwin: I received a forward about home school being threatened by the U.N.. tomorrow I will try to locate that info. This is another thing homeschooling families are very concerned about. There are so many fronts to confront and expose. As you may know, I am a strong proponent of teaching at home. But I also understand it's very difficult for young families of modest means to do this. As beeinbonnet said, talk to the teachers, let them know you are watching and listening and find out what's in the textbooks. No longer can we just put them on the bus and let the schools take over. Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance = barriers against atheist usurpers.
Good night, good people. And God bless us.

I know everyone is sick and tired of hearing about Arcon , but you see Acorn is the beginning and the end for Obama. Every offical is running scared , and I do mean ALL! The war that is yet to come between Israel and Iran will, as it stands now after the UN meeting, will be Armageddon. America will either stand by and watch or Obama will stand with Iran. That was made very clear Wed. in Obamas speech. Obama has made sure Acron was exposed which in turn has caused the Defence Dept. to be under funded and that leaves America defenceless. With the dollar at an all time low......... folks we are in deep do.. do.. As far as the Children chanting, my opinion it is contamination; plain and simple "EVIL"!! We are not fighting black people or white people, we are fighting for our lives aganist pure evil. I am still praying for an Impeachment, and I believe it will happen, but not soon enough. Only my Opinion. Believe it or not

winkie: I believe you and I will be paying for their defense. There is no way that Obama and the dems will truly cut Acorns funding. They will just slide them money under another name. This corrupt group is responsible for many of them being elected and they haven't forgotten that.

During the night, I received a forward from my son warning about the Muslim gathering in D.C.. I did not see who began this Forward, but it gave me an idea to do reparation for this insult to God.
Why not have a time of 'silence' while they are chanting 'Our Time Has Come'...and let us pray to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for them and ask Mercy for our Nation, singing Hymns of praise and thanksgiving to God. My favorite is HOLY GOD WE PRAISE THY NAME. My roof will lift up as we sing from our hearts!!
This is what I'll be doing during the appropriate time.
When is this to begin, our time, LoyalAmerican?
Let us not miss this opportunity to pray for infidels.

Winkie: I also posted on Gordon's flags at half mast.
Quaker is the provocator - (has to be one). It's 1:00 eastern? I seriously feel the need to pray while they are chanting to Allah - I forgot to say chanting to 'Allah' on last post. Maybe they'll know that. Yes, before, during and after.
I really despise this in your face defiance of BO and the other BO's for Christians. They want to persecute us as the J's did to the Disciples. May God protect us from infidels.

I'm sorry dear friends, but this is important.
Now we can understand the Media silence about the Muslims at the Capitol today. All Media attention is focused only on the planned G20 march in Pittsburg. They had to send in the bad boys to cause the vandalism and aggression..over 70 arrested - Swat teams all over - all while the Muslims are praying and chanting to ALLAH on the capitol steps! - you can bet, the world's media are filming this Pittsburg insurrection and using the Peaceful Praying Muslims in contrast - as propaganda against the United States!
This is disgusting!
Prayer at noon.
Nothing is funny about this!

Estragon, please.....re: your Huff link! The song that was sung by the children of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama to First Lady Laura Bush was not in the same galaxy as the one sung by the children in NJ. What you probably call the "right wing indoctrination" had the name Bush in the lyrics ONCE, his full name was not even used for Pete's sake, along with Congress ONCE and FEMA ONCE!! How do the lyrics to the following song even REMOTELY compare to the Obama song?
"Our country's stood beside us People sent us aid. Katrina could not stop us our hope will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA People across our Land, together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand in hand.
The Ode to Obama makes it ALL about Obama. It has the appearance of teaching children to idolize Obama. He is NOT royalty, he is an elected official that can be sent on his way at the will of the people. He is not chairman Mao but it appears he would LIKE to be! This song makes me ill. It is ALL BHO and he he he ..............
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama
Now tell me Estragon, do you really believe these two songs are remotely, on any level even close? One song is one of thanks, the other a song of beginners level brainwashing. Nothing I have said is "wild, untrue or a paranoid allegation". Common sense reigns high on this one and anyone with clear thinking can see the difference between the two songs!

I feel so sorry for these kids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LACyLTsH4... but can't help but wonder if these are future GOP candidates in the making. If any of you have not watched this documentary you should. In one scene they bring out a cardboard cutout of George Bush and the children hold up their hands toward it, start chanting prayers and crying. Yet you people are here everyday yacking & yacking about Muslim extremists, oh the irony. There's a song by Holly Near that goes
"I ain't afraid of your Yahweh
I ain't afraid of your Allah
I ain't afraid of your Jesus
I'm afraid of what you do in the name of your God"
I find those words to be so true, extremists of every kind scare me, especially the kind wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

bookworm: As usual, you interchange the term "extremist" with conservative. Using the word extremist to describe a conservative is incongruent with the very definition of conservative. I believe "extremist" and "radical" are synonymous. Your liberal beliefs do not automatically make you a radical or the worst of the worst.... radical extremist. Neither does my conservatism make me an extremist or radical or the worst of the worst!
I visited the link you posted. Yes, that video is disturbing. Teaching hatred of the government as depicted in the video, in my opinion, is grooming our next generation of Timothy McVeigh's. For you to "wonder if these are future GOP candidates in the making" is a very sick statement on your part and shows clearly your state of mind! Some of them can just as easily become a type such as Abbie Hoffman, Bill Ayers, a Black Panther, Van Jones, Jerry Rubin, Jane Fonda, Bernadine Dohrn, Tom Hayden, etc. I could go on, but you get the picture! As a democrat, you have your share of undesirables too!! Yes, a flurry of opinions cross these pages daily about Muslim radical extremist, and with just cause. Remember the terrorists acts against Americans worldwide, not to include attacks against other governments!? These attacks were aimed strictly at Americans; Achille Lauro, Lockerbie, Berlin Disco, US Embassies at Awkar, Lima, Athens, Rome, Tanzania, Kenya, USO Naples,World Trade Center, US Diplomats murdered in Pakistan, Sudan and Gaza, 2 TWA flights, one bombed one hijacked, Khobar Towers, CIA HQ Virginia, beheadings of Daniel Pearl, Nick Berg, Paul Johnson, Jack Hensley, Eugene Armstrong, Karachi Consulate attack, attack on American interests in Damascus, and the worst as of yet...September 11 2001, and lastly 4 radical Muslim plots uncovered as recently as this week. These are not "brain washed " America children turned adults committing these heinous acts of terror and violence. All acts of terror listed were at the hands of MUSLIMS! There have been 4 events of terror on US soil by "lone wolf" terrorist, Oklahoma City, a home grown militant, Little Rock, I suspect this guy is Muslim, Olympic Park and Omaha Mall I don't know. What frightens me is the prospect of "lone wolf" Muslims attacking our country. They not only hate our government, they hate Americans. The true irony is you! You seem to love the gov't and bash about 50% of your fellow Americans. I wonder if you would even recite the Pledge of Allegiance or place you hand over your heart while the Star Spangled Banner is being played! I wonder what you would promote in the name of your God or the lack of a God. You tout tolerance....yet you have none! Now THAT is hypocrisy at its best!

Wait!
I want the Blind Ones to know that the Churches have been and are still assisting the "least citizens" not just in our County but in all states. We have the Catholic Church's St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Baptist Thrift Store, Save-a-Life, the Episcopal Church, etc.. to name a few. We contribute what we can to support these programs, and they help pay the A/C, heating and light bills, as well as clothing, food and day care FREE for the less fortunate among us - and as long as there are funds and products they turn no one down - not even atheists. (BO's, remember this when YOU are in need)
Ques: How can anyone claiming intellegence could be conveniently unaware of this ongoing assistance of the CHRISTIAN Churches in communities? Ans: Because they are conveniently Blind.
Winkie, everyone seems to be composing lyrics lately, how about one for the BO's. We could put to the music of Little Richard's "Keep a Knockin' But You Can't Come In". Or Brenda Lee's "Dum Dum".
There's nothin' like music to get a point across.

Winkie: Just rereading some of these excellent posts by top notch people (excluding the B.O.'s of course), and your 9/26-10:01 post flashed me an image - about the Bible and "America being built on the Word of God"..
It was an image of the Muslim, Obama, placing his hand on the Holy Bible to be sworn in as Chief and President of America - it seared his handprint into the cover and those nearby could smell the burnt leather. That's what I thought of, kind of like an omen.
