City UB makes 13% cut in budget
Published Thursday, September 24, 2009
The Andalusia Utilities Board this week adopted a budget in which it projected about 13 percent less revenue and expenses than in last year’s budget.
The budget projects $32.2 million dollars in revenue, compared to the $36.5 million it expected to generate in the current fiscal year that ends next week. Through the first 10 months of the fiscal year (83 percent of the year) for which financials were available, the Utilities Board showed income of $25.3 million, or 69 percent of the total it expected to receive.
Mayor Earl Johnson said that it would be impossible to project the year-end total revenue based on averages, but he thinks it will be $32 million, about 13 percent less than projected.
“Traditionally, these are some of our hottest months and the use of electricity is high,” he said. “Systems are down (in sales) all across the United States based on the mild summer and mild winter we’ve enjoyed.”
He said the budget reflects significant cuts in expenses, with respect to salaries in the administrative office and legal fees. When the board’s manager resigned earlier this year, he was not replaced. Instead, the mayor, who chairs the Utilities Board, acts as manager.
The new budget shows a reduction in administrative salaries of $117,535, and a reduction in legal expenses of $14,200.

The Muslims will be gathering and chanting to Allah at our Capitol in D.C. this morning over loud speakers - chanting praises to Allah that 'THEIR TIME HAS COME!'
This is beyond alarming! - Let us take special time out this morning while the infidels are incanting, and ask our God for forgiveness and mercy for our Nation. My family will be praying and offering Hymns of Praise and Thansksgiving to GOD THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT.
Our Flags are at half mast for 'our' son in uniform, David Gordon II, and may I add -for our Nation's Capitol!
One Nation Under the One True God!

I hope the Islamic march on Washington today will show the American people that Race is not the Factor, but that Islam wants our Country and will stop at nothing to take Her for their own. Now do you believe Obama is who he says he his? My opinion only: Berry Barack Hussain Obama is pure Islam who married an African American woman and used her and org. like Acron to achieve his agenda of over takeing America useing the 'Race Card". Every one should watch the movie ,'The Delta Force', starring Chuck Norris. Its an eye opener.

Blue collar guy: Your very welcome and we're glad you enjoyed the frivolity. But now it's time to get back to the business at hand - we needed a break. Don't forget to join the rest of Covington County in honoring Sgt. David Gordan II Saturday.
Was the profile close?
Best thoughts.

Shamrock,
I weighed it very heavy on my conscience as whether to take off my mask and reveal myself to you or not. I lived most of my life in Antioch, never worked for the city or county, and will probably be buried in Antioch with my wife's relatives. Now, back to business, us commentors are not supposed to BE the news, just comments, but I made an exception for you. And I 'salute' from afar, Sgt. Gordon and the sacrifice he made for us all, all US citizens, from Covington County, to the remote bases all over the world, and may his name and memory live well beyond this weekend, for decades to come.
