Cell phone service issues with the service provider Alltel should be resolved, company officials said Wednesday.

For the past week, Alltel customers have experienced problems when attempting to make phone calls and send text messages in the downtown area of Andalusia.

Phone calls have been reported as going straight to voicemail and text messages have been delayed.

Alltel spokesman Wesley Brown said he spoke with the network manager in the Andalusia area and received confirmation that there were some “intermittent issues” with a sector of a tower in this area.

“That problem has been fixed and our network should be working properly,” Brown said.

“Our network team is also looking into what caused the problem so that we can prevent it from happening again.”
