Itsjustmyopinion do you even know who these 2 are? I doubt it or you would know they were cousins, not brothers and were raised in good Christian homes. They were taught how to respect authority. They had a firm hand, not only parents, but grandparents. They were taught responsibility. I have been knowing the families of these 2 all my life. I am shocked by their actions as much as anyone. But it takes a lot of guts to come on here and apologize like Stephen did. I know they both had a good future planed out, but because of a few hours of insanity those plans (no pun intended) are shot to hell and back. Stephen, I know your family is under a lot of stress right now, not only from your and your cousins actions, but other things as well and I will be praying for you all.

I believe that gladigotoutofandy is buying into the myths of pot not being as dangerous as cigarettes or alcohol. Some facts are it has more cancer-causing chemicals and tar than tobacco, it weakens the immune system so there for a pot smoker is more likely to have more infections and sickness than a nonsmoker, the risk of having a heart attack is 5 times higher than usual within an hour of smoking a joint, it delays reaction time, impairs coordination and balance the same as alcohol, reduces the ability to learn and diminished short-term memory, affects hormones and can delay puberty and sperm production in young men and affect a woman's cycles and if she does get pregnant and uses, causes a low birth weight baby with with many medical problems. I could go on and on, but you can google and find many facts why pot SHOULD NOT be legalized. The main reason for me not to legalize it is that I would not won't my child to be exposed to it on possibly a daily basis in some shape or form, for example, a classmate that has parents that would smoke in home and the residue from the smoke be on clothes, or some jerk smoking a joint on his way into Walmart that is ahead of us going in the door.

Thank you harts0002 for your post that explains how the guard knew the pill was prescription meds. And the laws that go along with having a controlled substance in your possession that is not yours. Some people just love to tear down our sheriff and staff and your post was well though out and intelligent. Thanks to our LEO's that do the best they can with the resources they have to try to keep drugs off the street and out of our schools. What is to say that the fool didn't get it from whom ever came to bond him out of jail?

What does living in the south have to do with it? I have a cassette tape of "Thriller" and I was born and raised in the south. I listened to a lot of pop music in the 80's and he was an icon of the 80's. I prefer country now, but every now and then I break out my stuff from the 70's and 80's and reminisce.

My husband has had back surgery at Flowers in Dothan and at ARH. He liked the care he had at ARH better than the care he received at Flowers. The main problem at ARH is they are short staffed most of the time.

Where does it say "those other people"? The quote is “Those people never had a chance, they were right there on the porch when they got shot,” Meeks said. “It was just horrible". I believe Sheriff Meeks was referring to the scene where most of the blood shed took place, he was not singling out anybody. But yes, all the victims and families needs our prayers. It is going to take a while for the area to get back to normal, but it is going to take longer if ever for the families directly effected. I pray for all those involved, not just the families, but the witness and the law enforcement cause this is something that is going to be with them forever. Like one poster said hug your family and tell them you love them cause you never know, it could be the last time.

They are now taking donations for ALL the victims. When they started this only the names of the deputy sheriffs family was known. There has been a fund set up in Geneva for all the families and the funds raised are going into that and then the monies will be evenly divided. And for those that are so upset about him being singled out, why didn't you put your time into coming up with starting something on your own instead of complaining about how someone else was handling things.

This is the best site to look up sex offenders http://community.dps.alabama.gov/ I don't know what the problem is cause I didn't see yesterdays paper and if they just singled out your son, it could be a problem but if it was the whole list then I see no problem. The sex offender list is public record and anyone with access to a computer can look it up and if you don't you could probably go to the police or sheriff dept and find out the info. I agree with Blondie, if he was honest about his conviction then things should be o.k. but if he lied, then too bad, so sad. Maybe next time he will get to know someone before he takes the relationship to the "next level". Yes, some girls do look and act older, but there are too many things to blame, like the media and society, but a lot of blame should be put on the parents for allowing them to dress and run around like they do.

At least the high bond maybe will keep him from getting out soon and go back to making this poison for awhile. I would say getting caught with a meth lab set up and the oil is more than enough to arrest him. Also until recently I didn't know that prescriptions drugs being sold were as big a problem as it is. I think our lawmakers need to worry about things like this instead of getting money for their pet projects. One thing that would help would be a data base for doctors and drug stores so these people that "doctor shop" to have these drugs to sale can be tracked. I would go for a tax break or some kind of funds given to doctors and drug stores to set this up. And yes, it would be against HIPPA, but there could be an amendment to it that prescription controlled substances would be exempt. I know it is going to be an on going battle, but our law enforcement is doing the best with the resources they have to combat this problem and maybe one day they will win.

I doubt we will be going back to the square cause for what little bit of candy you get and having to have a 6 year old to stand in line and creep along at slower than turtle speed is to big of a hassle, not to mention she did not enjoy it very much last year. Also I think is is very silly for grown men to be dressing up (as fairies in pink no less) and running around getting candy. It has gotten too out of hand cause trick or treating is for kids, not adults. It is o.k. if you want to dress up and go up and hang around but leave the trick or treating part to the kids.
On Don’t forget about trick-or-treaters
