You don't have to try to "explain" anything to me - I am not a child. I don't have a "dog in this fight". I don't rodeo or even own a horse. I do know that if you are so adamant about how this was all done why didn't you speak out at the County Commission meetings? Were you there silently taking everything in and wishing you had the guts to speak. Don did ask that if anybody had any questions or concerns that then and there was the place to voice them. Where were your questions?? If you did not attent the meeting then shut up!! If you were so "CONCERNED" then you should have had your tail there and made some racket. If not then you must be a coward. Should we call you "Old Yellow" to go along with "Dandy Don"??? If you have any questions for Don Bullard his number is in the book and the arena number will get you in contact with his wife. He does and will have an "open door" policy.

As for you "County Conscience" I wasn't attacking you personally anymore than you were attacking Don. If you have a problem with the "elected" officials than aim your guns at them. Don could not do or receive anymore than they would allow him to. Lets do a comparison-- if you have a 3 year old and he wants a sucker-- the baby sitter gives him a sucker -- his mom did not want him to have a sucker -- who should you be mad at the baby or the babysitter? Don is really trying to do good for the County and no one else stepped up before he did. Everyone had these marvelous ideas but failed to follow thru on them. Please tell me how this makes Don forging ahead a bad thing? All I am saying is what done is done - at least try to be supportive to Don and his family instead of negative. Being positive goes a long way to a positive result. Isn't that what we are all really after?

To "County Conscience" I don't think I've ever heard anyone be so negative in my life. If you are who you say you are and are in the "Golden Years" of life why haven't you learned the "Golden Rule"? You know - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you? If you were risking your money would you really want to hear someone down you in everyway possible. You may not be a jealous person, but I would suspect that you are a very unhappy person. I really feel sorry for people like you that have nothing better to do that put down someone else. "Dandy Don" hasn't done anything to reap your fury. His personal life is really none of your dern business as far as I can see. This is a business venture for Don and has nothing to do with his personal choices from the past. He is happily married, has 2 great kids, a loving, caring Mother and an extended family that will fight for him to the end. What do you have that can match that? A computer that you think gives you the power to be the mighty judge of character? Get off your stupid soap box, suck it up and deal with the decisions that you have no control over.

They had all the time in the world to turn it over to a "professional management company". As I said before no one wanted the responsibility of it. No one wanted to choose a company in fear that they would fail and the Commission would be held responsible for the choice. It was a double edged sword and I believe they made the best choice. You should at least give Mr. Bullard the benefit of a doubt. He has owned and ran a very successful business in our county for many years. What would be the benefit to him for the Arena to not be successful. If he brings more venues in that means more tax revenue for all our businesses. There are many venues that the Arena could host that have not even been touched on yet. Give the man a chance!!!

To all the people with negative remarks I would like to say that until the deal is sealed and you know the "whole deal" cool your jets. Mr. Bullard obviously knows how to make money and run a successful business. If you have a problem with him leasing it why didn't you step up and do it. Nobody wanted the responsibility of it. The cost for just the electricity to run the place is astronomical. If he can bring different venues in along with the rodeos and horse shows I say "Go Boy Go!!!!!" It needs someone to manage it like a "business" and he is a "business man". If he and all of his "cronies" spend their money in Andalusia and bring other people in then what is the problem????? I haven't seen anyone else step up to the plate --Have YOU?? This building needs to be marketed for what it has been used for and what it COULD be used for. With a little creativity it has the potential to bring lots of tax revenue into the city and county. My hats off to Mr. Bullard. I wish you lots of success!!

The City wanted the County to pay them $50,000 to take over the Arena. LBW Math 101 says that would have been a BAD DEAL-- but also public knowledge!! The bottom line is NO ONE WANTED THE RESPONSIBILITY!!! No one wanted to take a chance without a guaruntee. Life doesn't come with guaruntees on business ventures like this. "County Conscience" I bid you farewell - I have lowered myself to argue long enough. I hope to see you at the events at the Arena!!!!
On Bullard wants arena to ‘be for the county’
