roscopcoltrane-FYI-I have run a private business for over 24 years and sometimes you have to make decisions that a lot of people are not going to like. The same is with Kristi-she had to make decisions that people did not like and therefore they criticize her for it. It's not that I am the only one to defend her publicly-but you only hear the ones gripe when they themsleves have a personal vandetta.
Sorry----

To roscopcoltrane--You spell her name Kristi by the way--For your info-the only reason they split the position was not to save money but to create a special position to appease others. Kristi did her job and she did it great for almost 10 years and having said this it earned her the perks for which she deserved. Don't assume that the Assistant Director quit because of her--when you are the authority figure you have to do things many people don't like. That was her job and she wasn't hired to run this department like a good ol girl..Business is business and friends are friends. Do you know what I mean????

I still don't see how hiring a EMA director will save the county $16000-$24000 a year. What is the salary of the new EMA director??? Stamnes took a 5000.00 cut in salary so you are telling me you are going to hire someone in this position for that??? On top of that the two departments are now in separate buildings so now you are looking at double rent, double utilities and what else? I wish someone would put this on a spreadsheet for me and explain where they are going to save money. My opinion, someone is making a convenient position for someone else. Hmmmmm???

To Coulditbe--
I have known Kristi all her life-so if she set the bar high she did because of the following: She started working at the age of 14--at 16 she worked for a local hospital--after graduation she managed a large hotel--then she joined the military-then she worked for a local police department-I guess this is not enough of qualifications for you--evidently the Board figured it was plenty-that's why they hired her--Maybe you need to get the facts before you judge a person on limited info you have--some people just don't want to admit what a great job she has done over her years there--or maybe they have their own agenda for something else

It's all about votes and immigration reform!! Come on people read between the lines. Obama is a shrewd politician---he won the Latino vote in 08 simply because he was not an advocate on the immigration issue. His pick was 2 fold--one) to keep the votes--- two) to make sure whoever he picked would be faithful to his policies. Just think--she believes in making policy not interpreting the Constitution!!!

On Do you like Obama’s pick of Sonia Sotomayor to be the next Supreme Court justice?

YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR ARE A DIRCTOR OR OWNER OF A BUSINESS YOU HAVE TO MAKE ALOT OF DECISIONS. THESE DECISIONS ARE NOT GOING TO BE LIKED BY EVERYONE. SEEMS LIKE THE EMPLOYEES AT 911 WHO WANTED STAMNES TO GO JUST SIMPLY DID NOT LIKE HER DECISIONS. WELL, WORK IN HER PLACE FOR A WHILE AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL LIKE THE DECISIONS YOU'LL MAKE OVER 10 YEARS. I THINK THIS BOILS DOWN TO PURE JEALOUSLY!!! YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GROW UP.

On Director will remain at E911

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT SPLITTING UP THE 911/EMA POSITION WILL CREATE MORE EXPENSE AND HEADACHES. STAMNES HAS ALL THE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY TO RUN 911/EMA EFFICENTLY. WHAT'S THE BEEF? I HAVE RUN A BUSINESS FOR 23 YEARS AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT REPLACES EXPERIENCE. THAT'S WHAT GREASES THE WHEEL AND MAKES THINGS RUN SMOOTHLY.
