No matter what your politics are, you have to admit that the sea of hopeful, proud, patriotic, enthusiastic faces in Washington, D.C. yesterday was nothing short of electric!! And I'm talking about faces of every color, from every kind of background. I was so proud of America yesterday as I am everyday. But yesterday was, as is every inauguration, a beautiful peaceful transition of power that we should not take for granted. Many countries do not enjoy such a graceful transition, they have riots and bloodshed when someone seeks to take over the reins. God Bless America!

How sad, disappointing and unpatriotic that only CCB has placed their American flag out on this historic day. There are no others on Three Notch or on the square. Congratulations, CCB.

It doesn't matter what anyone else would get as a sentence. SHE IS AN ELECTED OFFICIAL AND SHOULD BE HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD. I think that is what is angering everyone. She's not some first time offender who just had a momentary lapse in judgment. She was responsible for large (and small) sums of money on a daily basis for years, and knew good and well what she was doing. It was pre-meditated and well thought out. I also feel that if she had shown one little smidgen of remorse throughout this whole thing the citizens may have been a bit more compassionate. Yes, she should get Christian forgiveness, but forgiveness doesn't mean that she shouldn't be punished for her crime. Oh, and when the person who taught her Sunday school class testified today I wanted to ask him if she was absent the day the 10 Commandments were covered? She must've been, because thou hast stolen!!

Festus, what are you talking about? How has Mr. Obama lived off the work of others?

Best wishes to Mr. Bowden. We should all remember, however, and be VERY grateful to Lee Enzor for performing the duties of this office since Mid-June!!! He's already "cleaned up" a lot of the messes left by Ms. Phillips. Hundreds of you contacted the Governor to express your desire for his appointment, however, the Governor chose otherwise. THANK YOU, LEE ENZOR!

hcgresident, your 8:12 a.m. posting is RIGHT ON. I am white and I moved here from a western state (I'm sure some of you will tell me to go back where I came from) and it was like moving to another country. I cannot believe the backward attitudes of so many people here. I am afraid that the longer I stay here I will become less sensitive to the racism and it scares me. I try every day to stay true to myself and my belief system. This is supposedly the "bible belt", but this hateful attitude about anyone who looks or sounds different is certainly not very Christian so far as I was raised. I'm sure I'll get lots of hate blogs about this, but I'm just calling it like I see it.
