GO OUTLAW GO! But you won't get the job - neither will I who also is fully credentialled in emergency response and management. I don't have the years under my belt, but I do have experience. Trust me - this is nepotism at it's best - just watch and see. I pray I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Dear "from above" - the county fire departments are ALL volunteer. They exist essentially on 3 mil tax monies and donations. The cost of diesel fuel and maintenance on the equipment is essentially what is covered. IF any training occurs, the costs have to absorbed by the department, paid for by members willing to take off of work to go to the training, or offered for free. I know people on one of the responding departments, and as I understand it - no amount of training would have helped in this situation, even for the woman. Thank God for those men and women who serve 24/7 - 365 with no pay, no gas reimbursment for the calls, meetings, and trainings that they attend, and the willingness to sacrifice thier lives and homelife for another.
