I have an idea. I think the Alabama Supreme Court should offer every voter the opportunity to abolish the one LAW of their choosing, no matter the severity. Infractions, misdemeanors, felonies, or capital offenses are all up for abolishment. Since the majority of the people here seem to want to choose which ones to enforce, would possession more than 5 gallons of alcohol be your choice to do away with?

Wow! I couldn't care any less than I do now about any of the political garbage thatis routinely plastered here and elsewhere in print as well as other media outlets. I do kow it is a major issue and there is a time and place for it. However, I don't believe an article about the struggles of a beautiful young woman and her family is the appropriate place for such a debate. I didn't organize Cancer Freeze for any other reason than to try and help. Why don't you exchange phone numbers and you can debate whatever you choose in private; or at least wait for a different public arena. Hope to see you all in Florala on February 6 with a big check.
God Bless

Thank you for your kind words. Even though this event means that someone is suffering, it is a wonderful thing to see people come together for a common goal, which is to try and bring a little comfort in a difficult time. My family and I enjoy Cancer Freeze and gaining new friends. God Bless.

Cancer Freeze is also looking for sponsors to help fund the event. Hope the event continues to be a success, and that can only be possible with the support of our local communities.

"Ineedtobeheard"

You make some valid points. However, I can offer some insight on your comment about the carnival. Last year, two weeks before the celebration began, officials were notified by the owner of the carnival that he had gone out of business. Hardly enough time to find a replacement for that year, so the planning committee spent more than $5000 to provide the inflatables at no cost to anyone. Granted, it was not a carnival, but it was free and something to do. As for the ensuing year, the committee has contacted numerous carnivals, and the ones who aren't up North for the Summer swing want a guaranteed amount of money, as well as for the committee to establish more stops in the area. the planning committee is open for anyone to be a part of and they always welcome new ideas. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday nights of the month at the MASTAR Building in Florala at 7:00 p.m.

Thank you for your kind comments. It was awesome, and I've been a little overwhelmed by the response from this event; not surprised, just blown away. This was the 3rd annual Cancer Freeze and yes, it will happen again next year and every year after that. The date for next year is February 6, 2010 and I have already begun thinking of new ideas. See the pics @ www.precisionimageflorala.com under the proofing web site and @ www.cancerfreeze.webs.com.

Thank you and God Bless!

What is amazing to me is the amount of comments on this story versus the Cancer Freeze fundraiser for a 5 yrear old little girl. Shameful.
