Afirmative Action is something that is given to you because you are a minority. We were not given the presidency, we earned it, and took the lead. After all the oppression of these last 8 years. How can you say you are safe from terrorist, when it's not just muslims we should be afraid of. It is also the streets of america. We used to be able to keep our doors locked and our cars running. Now everthing is under lock and key. The drugs, the murders, the rapes, this is feel are terrorist act by americans. Our soldiers should be on our streets ridding them of drugs and guns and murderers.
We are fighting for freedom in another country, but are we really free in America? We are rebuilding homes that we destroyed in another country, but the truth is, How come we can't build homes in America for all the homeless? Bush gave money for hunger to the same country that caused 911, but funding is very low in America. I am a good christian, but I would have thought twice about giving someone money that just bombed my country. Most homeless shelters serve commodities or donated food. Some programs lose their funding. I say we need to clean up our own home, before we fight and try to tell another country how to run theirs.

Ineedtobeheard you are the one keeping up all the confusion, just chill. I'm sure there are some sayings that white people have to. It doesn't matter where you live and as far as I am concerned. You nor your opinion matters to me either. It's people like you that keep the south backwards. Wake up this is not 1920 anymore, it is 2008 soon to be 2009 get with the times and move on.

Response Part 2
As far as the tax situation, I would welcome it because I am married but have no dependants. They tax me very heavily. By the time I pay parking, insurance, and taxes, that is half my paycheck. I have to work at least 30 hours overtime to even see something. I have never been on welfare nor food stamps, I have always worked. You know the funny thing is they take medicare out of my paycheck every week, but if I get sick and lose my job, I am not able to apply for medicaid or medicare unless I am pregnant. We do need a change as far as that is concerned.
My opinion on this state that the country is in every time a republican has been in office we go to war, we have very high gas prices, and this country goes into a depression. Now you can say what you want about the democrats, when we hold office it may be a little drama going on but we get the messes cleaned up, and the economy is in very good shape when we had it over. Never has a republican had to clean up any mess the democrats left behind. Now thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.
We all just need to relax and look at the big picture. We are all one nation under God. Black, White, etc. And we need to put this racism behind us and move on because like it or not times are changing and for the better of everyone. We must love all our brothers and sisters in gods eyes. If you are a true christian.

I am responding to several of the comments made since the very first day.I have voted since I was 18 because people died so I can have the right to vote. Served in the Military for 6 years straight out of high school. We are the only country worried about black and white. Maybe if we were UNITED like our name says 911 would have never happened.
For those of you who are trying to figure out Obama's nationality , let me tell you a little secret, there is not a space on the census, or any paperwork for 1/2 Arabic or 1/2 African or 1/2 White. When you are mixed you are considered a minority, Black or African American. We are not given a choice which nationality we want to be. I say we because I am 1/2 Italian and 1/2 Black, but but i didn't have a choice on what nationality I wanted to be.
As far as Andalusia being backwards. Really the whole south is. On positivie note, Andalusia is a good place to live after you are retired. It is also a good place to raise children, Crime rate is very low. I used to reside in Covington County, for 11 years. The cost of living was very cheap at the time but minimum wage was $3.35. I was 22 at the time and I had not made that wage since I was 16. The lady interviewing me at the pecan plant said, "You're in Alabama now lady." Everything is going up but in Andalusia and unless you work at Shaw or Alabama Electric you are not making any money, just minimum wage. Just enough to pay bills and maybe go to the movies. My husband worked on a job for 7 years, starting at $6.50, on the 7th year we decided to move, my husband was only making $7.00. When we moved his starting wage was $9.00 and after 3 months he earned a raise making $12.50. Companies do not pay you what you are worth everywhere, but it sure beats the wages we were making in Covington County. I worked at one time 3 jobs and earned the same my husband did on one job $14,000. I do live in a bigger city now, but you can't even pay bills with a debit card at any of these establishments. No one carries cash like that anymore, I certainly do not. Transportation is horrible. If you do not have an automobile, you are out of luck. Not to offend anyone, but yes I would say the south was backwards.

To the first comment about a muslim being in power and this is not a nightmare. I promise you this president cannot do any worse than the nightmare we are already in. Obama cannot destroy anything that Bush has not already done in the last 8 years. The economy is worse than it has been in history. This campaign has proved that everyone is ready for change and this state needs some help with that from your comments. I am not from Africa and I do not intend on living there. Please try to open to open your minds to change

The justice system is a whole different world in Covington County. I knew all she would get was a slap on the wrist. You have lawyers that were convicted of stealing that are still practicing law in Covington County. Hell I won't be surprised if she gets her job back.
But I will tell you this if it were a regular person they would have put them under the jail.
