Justin another outstanding editorial. Again, well said.

Stephanie, while it is not fun to hear them say "I don't feel good," it is a blessing! When mine stop talking and they are sick, that's when I really start to worry. Hope the rest of you stay well!

I had Mrs. Crawford for biology at AHS. I loved that dear lady as she instilled in me a love for biology. I am sorry to hear of her passing but privileged that she was my teacher.

I have one question and I hope that someone can answer it: If the U.S. does not have the best healthcare system in the world, then who does and where did your information come from? I have a mother who is on Medicare and who could well afford to pay for private insurance on her own. However, when she turned 65 she was told she had to go on Medicare. This alone could save millions of dollars by allowing citizens 65 and over to keep their private health insurance if they could afford it. I am 47 and am terrified at the prospect of having one day to go on Medicare, especially if the bill in its current form passes.

Reader, Democrats were in charge of Congress during part of the Bush administration. The President only has the authority to do what the Congress gives him the money for. I was not happy with Bush the entire time. I admit that the bank bailout happened under his watch and I was furious with him. I thought hey George, let's open the door and let socialism creep in once more. I'll give you that, but remind you that the Democrats were in control of Congress when that first stimulus was passed.
Yes, I probably would have sent troops to Iraq just as he did. Also, as for the WMD's France, Great Britian, and Israel had the same intelligence we had, so I believe that there were WMD's. I would not want to see this country become like Israel-where people are killed by suicide bombers. We kept the terrorism off this soil and I pray to God that Obama is able to do that.
Look, I had my rant, but I'm done now. I still say that Obama is socialist. He meets all of the criteria. Socialism was not what the founding fathers intended for this country. It doesn't work and it promotes class warfare. It also takes away incentive to produce. Socialism scares the pee-diddle out of me because it is destructive to the very principles upon which this country was founded. It tries to create a fair society, meaning equal outcome. I have two children whose future is very unclear to me now. I only want them to grow up in a country where success is rewarded. So, I hope that you can understand my frustration and harping on socialism crap as you put it.
As far as giving Obama a chance, it certainly is not unpatriotic to give him minimal support. Republicans are giving him as much support as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid gave Bush when he was in office.
If we want to see any progress made in this country, then both sides have to honestly listen to one another rather than the winners suppressing the losers. We have fallen into this childish argument of "I won you lost, nanny-nanny-boo-boo!" We have lost the art of intellectual debate and fallen into the playground mentality.
Reader, I wish you well. As far as me doing my research on issues, I don't sleep very well because I read and read and read! Yes, I admit I also listen to talk radio and watch FOX News. I can't shut down my brain some nights. I also listen to both sides of the argument, so that I can attempt to see where the other side is coming from. I also had some wonderful teachers who instilled a love of country in me and required me to read our founding documents. So if you think I'm unpatriotic, I beg to differ. I respect your right to your opinion, and no, I really don't want you go to Canada! You wouldn't be happy there. I am assuming you are a Southerner so you wouldn't get any of our good food up there-only moose and lots of snow!

Hey Reader, yes, uninformed as I am, I am aware that the majority voted for Obama-yessir, change we can believe in! Also, as I recall from my American civics class there were two phrases that still come to mind: "tyranny of the majority" and "majority rule, minority rights." Obviously you did not live through Jimmy Carter, who has been the worst president in my lifetime. I still stand by the statement that Obama is a socialist. Stop harping on Bush. He is gone. I find it hilarious that people keep going on and on about Bush. As I said, go to Canada and live with your socialist brethren. The minority, especially me, will not shut up just to make you and your kind happy. You didn't shut up for EIGHT YEARS so why should I and others who share my opinion? I hope you like your government handouts, courtesy of the taxpayers of this nation. His agenda is moving like lightening. My retirement is in the tank, and I can't wait to have my private health care, which I pay for, taken away from me so I can get government health care and stand in line for six months waiting for an MRI.
Hope you enjoy all of the perks that come with Obama, you know the ones the MAJORITY voted for!
By the way, how would you have responded were you president on 9/11/01? Just buried your head in the sand and hope the bad men go away? Also, since I'm so uninformed, why has the price of oil dropped below $1 per gallon since you seem to think that we are fighting a war in Iraq and Afghanistan for oil? IF that were the case we should all be swimming in oil.

Hey Reader-you are right Canada is nice. So why don't you join your fellow socialists there and let the rest of us oppose the President and his march toward socialism in this country? As a conservative I will not support any of his policies that undermine the very foundations upon which this country was built. Some of us still like the free market system and don't want socialized medicine. I also don't want to pay for someone else's mortgage that they couldn't afford in the first place. So, I don't like President Obama or his administration. I also don't appreciate people like you who think of compromise as going along to get along. The First Amendment has not been suspended, so we are still free to speak out against him and his policies.

Any landing you walk away from is a good landing! Thank goodness the sheriff wasn't hurt.

I don't care what color Dot Crawford was. She was a wonderful teacher and woman. I too had her for 9th grade biology at AHS in the late 70s. She sparked an interest in me in science that still lingers today. She is one of those wonderful teachers that I will never forget! She enjoyed teaching and interacting with her students. It wouldn't have been in her nature to not take an interest in any student in which she saw potential.
