lookeyhere, you are so right. There must be a WANT to quit for it to work. I have a little experience with addicts and addiction, and one thing is certain in ALL, on some level EVERY addict wants to quit, most just don't know how. Addiction is a disease. Breaking the cycle is a vicious, horrible, difficult and lengthy process. The type of sickness the addict experiences when drying out is something the likes of which a non addict can not even fathom. Noone WANTS to be addicted, there is a root cause that drives most addicts, some deep seated hurt or trauma that they usually don't even realize that the drugs or alcohol mask for them. The thought of eliminating what is masking their pain is very frightening, and any addict is all too familiar with the sickness of being without their "drug", so therefore the thought of giving it up completely, and voluntarilly going through that type of sickness is almost too frightening to even think of. Thats where the compassion, rehabilitation, treatment and religion come in to play. Without a good support system, the addicts has little or no chance of succeeding. The way to rid our society of the problems associated with drug use and abuse is NOT to build more jails tohouse the addicts and dealers, it is to deal with the problems of addiction and heal the addicts. No demand equals no need for supply.

Problem is for every one they take down, two more pop up to take their place! You can't stop this poison. The recipee is all over the internet, they publish the ingredients on the front page of the papers, and even inform the dealers of new methods or making the stuff! They now have a cold shake method that requires no cooking, can be done while driving down the road, and the only thing needed to produce it is a common two litre soda bottle to shake it in. The drawback? Its 10 times more deadly and likely to explode while being prepared! The advantage? Its portable, theres no noticeable smell while being manufactured, and easy to dispose of all the evidence with one quick flick of the wrist!

Face it folks, as long as there are no jobs, no money to be made, substandard education, and people either desperate or lazy looking for a quick buck there will always be dope and dope dealers! Andd as long as there is poverty, hurt and despair, there will always be drug addicts and dope seekers! Putting them in jail for a minute and making the taxpayers of this country feed, house, cloth and cater to their medicinal needs hasn't worked to this point, and isn't likiely to solve the problem anytime in our lifetimes.

The DTF does an admirable job, but they are fighting a battle that can't be won. We have to fix the underlying problems if we are to ever have a shot at fixing the epidemic. You can't put a bandaid on a hemmorage and expect it to save a life! We need more education, we need more treatment facilities, we need the economy to recover, we needd parents who RAISE their children, TEACH their children, and KNOW WHAT THEIR CHILDREN ARE DOING.

I certainly don't have all the answers, but I DO know the questions. I know that if we concentrate on the addicts, and users, find ways to fix them, we wont need to keep building more jails to house the dealers, we'll put them out of business. If theres no demand, theres no need for supply! Compassion, rehabilitation, treatment, and religion are the building blocks we need to start with!

Come on people!!!!!! Lets quit looking for more reasons for the government to dictate our lives! There is no reason to enact a law to control personal cell phone useage! First of all, if you own a cell phone, you bought and paid for the phone itself, if you have the ability to talk or text on it then you bought and paid for minutes or a plan for the phone, therefore ITS YOUR! No law needed to tell you when you can and can't use it, just COMMON SENSE!! Maybe there should be a test required before one could purchase and activate a phone to assure the rest of us that they actually DO posess common sense!

Seriously though, talking on a cell phone while driving-IF you are using hands free--which is the ONLY way any INTELLIGENT human life form WOULD use a telephone while driving! is no different than having a conversation with the person sitting next to you IN the vehicle! And no one is up in arms about folks driving down the road talking to their passengers! And what about having children in a vehicle?? That is BY FAR the most distracting situation for a driver on the road, and no one is trying to make a law to make it illeagle for parents to drive their screaming, crying, dirty diaper having, bottle dropping, talking, giggling, wiggling, fighting children in their vehicles!

As to those of you who attempt to drive while texting...YOUR IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!! Only an IDIOT would get behind the wheel of a two ton piece of equipment and propel it down a crowded road at 50 to 70 mph in areas where men. women and children live, work and play, while looking down and TYPING ON A MINIATURE KEYBOARD!!!!!!!!

Again I say, no law making it illeagle required here--these morons are to ignorant to follow the law anyway! There needs to be a common sense aptitude test required BEFORE these phones are sold and activated! You must prove the ability to know your a** from a hole in the ground BEFORE you are allowed to purchase and use a mobile phone!

And for all of you who get your knickers in a twist over folks talking on their phones in public, whether in a restaraunt or a store or walking down the road...Get Over Yourselves! Unless they are just being obnoxiously loud, its no different than them having a conversation with the person dining or standing next to them! Now those that are obnoxiously loud while talking on their phones...well there are ALSO folks who are just obnoxiously loud PERIOD! For some reason they feel the need to be the center of attention wherever they are, and somehow believe that the rest of us actually give a d*** what they are talking about!

Its just a sad fact of life no matter where you are or what your doing there are ALWAYS going to be a few obnoxious, annoying ignorant, inconsiderate idiots, we can either choose to let it irritate us and ruin our days, or we can choose to ignore them and go on about our business--the choice there is ours!

Ok, let me get this straight??? This fool was arrested, booked into jail, sat his "sober up time" posted out, and went to the court house to get his "permission" to go where I assume was back home. Am I reading it correctly to this point?? Was he DRESSED when he went to jail the first time? He's not from Covington County, he had to go to the court house to get permission to go home, so he didn't go home and change clothes when he was released, which leads me to my question...how in the world did he come into contact with law enforcement, get arrested, ride to jail, get booked INTO jail, get released, and ONLY when he went to court house to get paperwork did someone notice the pill in his pocket???? And only when HE apparently accidently pulled it out of his OWN pocket??? Does no one else see a problem here???? And for that matter, how did a guard at a security desk only briefly seeing something as small as a pill know just by glimpsing at it that is was PERSCRIPTION and not just an over the counter asprin or cold pill? (without actually TESTING the pill) And I guess I'm a little concerned as to how or why anyone decided that it was ok to confiscate this one lonely pill TO test it! I'm not in ANY WAY advocating the use of illeagle drugs. I am however concerned with the errosion of what USED to be our civil rights. Just doesn't seem quite right that someone briefly remove a pill from their pocket and the LAW decide to take it from them arrest them on the suspicion (and thats all it could have been is suspicion as the pill had not been tested at that point) that it is illeagle and throw them in jail! First of all, and I admit I could be wrong here, but I thought that we were supposed to be innocent until proven guilty? Following that assertion, one would think that you would give the person the benefit of the doubt that if they are removing voluntarily a pill from their pocket at the court house for a security check that the pill is probably innocent. What gave them any reason to take the pill away from the man in the first place?? And why did no one find it during the whole incaration process?? Just wondering???

Cannon, when I mentioned the stress and pressures of drugs etc which weren't around when we were kids, I didn't mean by any stretch of the imagination to imply that there were no drugs when we were in school, drugs and mind altering substances have been around since the begining of time. What I meant, is that there are a whole lot worse things out there now then there were years ago. When we were in school ( a lifetime ago) kids were sneaking liquor out of mom and dads liquor cabinet, and smoking weed! They werent buying hillbilly heroin (oxycontin) or dilaudid, or smoking, shooting or snorting that poison that has now infected our society--METH! There are way more pressures and WAY more drugs today than there were years ago, and when kids feel hopeless they look for escapes, thats how this poison keeps claiming our children!

These tests are so wrong on so many levels! YES we must test. They should be tested on EVERY subject, EVERY semester! If they don't pass the semester test, they don't pass the class. This is stress enough for them, especially those who have issues taking tests! And yes, I Know that they have multiple occasions to take the graduation exam, HOWEVER, are YOU aware that it tests on ALL the material, that will be covered throughout ALL of the 12 years of primary education. In other words, while they are given opportunities to take the test in every grade in high schook, they are being tested on material BEFORE they have even been TAUGHT the material!! Even the exam they take in the first semester of the 12th grade is covers material they will be taught during the WHOLE
year, which means they have to answer questions on material they havent even covered yet! Thus it is ridiculous to base whether or not they are allowed to graduate on whether they are able to pass ONE test!

School is a series of building blocks. Each class lays the foundation for the next. A cumulative process if you will. So testing at the end of each class on the material covered during the class is the only logical way to hold the students accountable for learning and retaining the material. It is ALSO the only logical method for observing the TEACHERS ability to reach their students. If we are testing every semester on every subject, and there are an overwhelming number of students NOT passing one subject or another its pretty clear that the teacher is NOT doing their job properly! If we are only giving ONE test to determine graduation, how do we know which teachers ARE and which ARE not doing their jobs properly?? THEY TOO must be held accountable in the process, and semester testing helps to ensure that! As even the most likeable teacher with the most prestigious degrees and education (on paper) may NOT have what it takes to get through to the students so that they comprehend and retain the material they are taught. If we don't hold them accountable in every class every semester, how do we as parents etc. know whether it is our student just not getting it or not trying; or the teacher not doing their job and getting through to them?

The current system just DOESN'T work! Too many kids are falling through the cracks! Too many are dropping out simply because they can't pass the ONE test and know they wont get to "graduate" even if they finish school and pass all their classes! I personally have three women working for me, who completedd school within the last 10 years but did NOT receive a diploma or get to walk with their classes, EVEN THOUGH they carried an A-B average throughout high school and missed only a combined total of 10 days of school between them throughout their high school career! Its a disgrace that this is allowed to happen!

FINALLY! Something that makes sense! It is now and always has been absolutely ridiculous to base graduation after 12 years of education on ONE test result! Too many children have completed all 12 years of education with passing grades, only to be denied the opportunity to "walk" with their graduating classes and hold in their hands a diploma that tells the world that they FINISHED SDHOOL with passing grades!!!!!! The graduation exam was a poorly thought out plan in the begining. Too many people have test phobias, they totally freeze up when taking a test. These same individuals can pass the classes with flying colors as far as knowing the material and doing the work goes, but when a test is put in front of them they freeze! It makes SO much more sense to test them on a semester basis for the material learned in each class each semester! That system has worked perfectly well for many many many years!!!!! Who the briliiant soul was that cme up with the idea to decide if a child could graduate based on the results of just ONE test I don't know, but I wonder if they have a child in school?? Better yet, I wonder if they would have graduated themselves from high school or how about college if doing so had been based soley on the results of ONE test which encompassed EVERYTHING learned over a 12 year peiod of education!!!!

Pass this, I beg of you! Don't deprive any more children of the opportunity to Walk with their graduating classes and posses the diploma they earn after STAYING IN SCHOOL, doing thier work and passing their classes! Its hard enough in today's society to keep kids in school and interested in learning, with all of the social pressurs, the drugs, etc. that werent around when we were all kids, DON'T give them a reason to just give up and quit because they don't stand a chance of graduating because they don't test well!!!!!

I agree completely, all part of treatment and rehabilitation. God alone is the answer there. No one is strong enough to overcome addiction whether it be meth or pills, heroin, or cocaine, alsohol or even cigarettes, without the intervention of the Lord our God. Humans are weak, thus the instances of addiction, only God can give us the strength to overcome the devils hold that drugs place on us! If anyone knows someone addicted to drugs, if anyone has ever seen someone they love try to overcome the hold the devils brew has on them, they know it is the HARDEST thing anyone can ever try to do. The physical sickness is worse than the worst physical illness anyone can imagine! The fever, chills, muscle and bone aches, the nausea, cramping, diareah, headache, the feeling of worthlessness, and the overpowering overwhelming want and desire for just one more fix to get past it is just unholy! An addict needs the help, support, love and understanding of each and every friend, family member, and persion they come in contact with during the process but more than anything else, they need to have the Lord in their lives if they are to even have the slightest chance of overcoming the devils hold!

Yeah High Speed Chicken Feed is another snappy little name they call it--makes it sound cool to kids!

But we have to wake up folks, the pseudo law doesn't do as much as everyone would like to believe it does. All in reality that it accoimplishes is to make it difficult as all heck for Joe law abiding citisen to obtain anything worth tking for a cold or sinuses. You have to sign your name and show your ID and get put on a "PILL HOT LIST" just to get an over the counter medication fit to take when you have a stuffed up head! The dope heads, dope dealers, and Meth cooks have a way around the law, they have a whole network of friends, users etc that go from store to store, town to town and state to state to buy the quantity of pills and other ingredients necessary to manufacture their poison! so therefore we're not "busting" the people actually cooking the stuff! They are to ADDICTED to the cooking process (and yes COOKING the poison is AS addicting if not more addicting than using the stuff!) At any rate, they are too busy preparing to make the stuff to go out and buy what is needed.

I live in Florida and here the stores have pretty much banded together and put limits on the number of pkgs of box matches, lighter fluid cold tablets, nail poish remover etc. These are not laws, just limits on other items that can be purchased for the manufacture they don't have any LISTS you have to sign. This can be very frustratiing to the average person that just wants to buy cookout supplies etc, but it does help to cut down the manufacture.

The answer to getting rid of this mess ISNT more laws, or jails, or jailers, the answer is TREATMENT, UNDERSTANDING OF THE DISEASE, and EDUCATION!!! We need to have treatment and rehab facilities not only available, but ACCESSIBLE to addicts trying to get their lives back, we need to have an understanding of the drug and the disease of addiction in order to fight it, and we need EDUCATION for children and adults alike! Adults need to be aware of the signs of use, and the ingredients used in manufacture, in order to be able to intervene, children need to be made aware of the effects of the use of the poison and I mean made PAINFULLY aware of the effects, the half dead addicts and cooks that get busted should be mandatorily paraded to schools,k preschools, etc and made to tell their stories so kids can see first hand that its not as COOL as its made to sound and adults can see how truly DEVASTATING the long term effects are BEFORE they use the first time, and BEFORE they condem and turn their backs on the users who need help!

The whole issue is an epidemic theres no one easy solution! But sweeping it under the rug so people don't read our dirty laundry WONT eliminate the problem nor will it keep it out of the public eye--the addicts and cooks are out there, whether we talk about them or not, igoring them wont make them go away!

Hanging is too quick and too compassionate for this degenerate! He should be dipped in honey naked, burried in a fire ant bed in the desert in the blazing heat with a baseball bat shoved into every available orifice FORCEFULLY before he is castrated, then and only then, should whatever is left of him be locked up in a Super Max prison with a toatoo on his forehead saying I'M A SHILD MOLESTER!!--The inmates would then take care of him from there--No matter what THEIR offenses were, one thing we can be sure of is that they ALL have mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and/or children of their own and they DON'T stand for guys who like to hurt children! Give him a little taste of the horror and pain he put that poor child through!!!!!!!!
