I have a close friend who had an opprotunity to actually do a "fly along" with the Blue Angels when she lived in Gulf Shores. She has told me so many stories about this once in a lifetime experience. Some are touching ( her dad took her to see them as a child and she told him that one day she would fly in one of those jets), some are hilarious ( her pilot told her to eat bananas the night before, they taste the same coming up as they do going down).
I hope we get a show...it will be a wonderful experience for everyone!

This has me confused also. Back in the day yards were chosen based on who lived there. Coaches, teachers, administrators and a few students for various reasons were targeted to be rolled or maybe egged. Doing this on a random basis makes no sense to anyone. I really like sonny's idea. The first school day after homecoming should be a clean up day with ALL the seniors and juniors participating. This would encourage self policing among the kids and still allow them to have their fun.
A friend of mine's dad got tipped off that their yard would be rolled so he got out the morning of and took a rope and a sheet of tin and tied it up in a tree in the yard. That evening he hid in the bushes and waited...sure enuff later that night the cars rolled up...lights off, and out they piled armed with their ammo of toilet paper and eggs. He let them chunk a few times...listening to their giggling and comments. Then he stood up and fired 3 loads of birdshot into that sheet of tin hanging in the tree. You can imagine the scene that ensued next. LMAO!!!

This is wonderful news!!! Anytime I see or hear of a business opening in Andalusia it makes me feel good. It would be great if the square area could be completely filled with shops and businesses like the old days. I still remember going to "town" on Sat. morning,it was the only day we made this trip. We always parked in "poor mans parking lot" behind David Lees dept store which was next to JC Penney. From there we followed momma and daddy to Penny's, Kenwins, Western Auto, The James Store, Newberry's Drug store, a tobacco shop whose name I cant remember, the green front (for my uncle), Woolworths,I can smell those cashews roasting and fresh popcorn right now.
If we were good( disclaimer...this is a lie,we got to go every time) we got to go to the Dairy Queen for a footlong or ice cream. Great times...great memories.

I love a good band myself. Instead of asking the AHS band to do a whole show at halftime lets have a guest band each week. We could have the Johnny Mott band one week, the Bobby Spears band one week, and maybe even Milford Colvin could be persuaded to play. I'd pay to hear "hang my hat" and the classic 'SeeSaw". Just a suggestion...

For the few who dont seem to grasp the real purpose of Little League and the even smaller minded few who think it is all about selecting the "best of the best" to be allowed to participate I offer the following. This is from an article titled " The purpose of Little League". I think it is an excellent definition of what we should aspire to offer to ALL kids regardless of their athletic ability.
"Little League is a program of service to youth. It provides an outlet for healthy physical activity and training under good leadership with the atmosphere of good community, and parental, participation. It is dedicated to helping children develop into good, decent citizens and inspires them with a goal. Little League helps enrich their lives towards the day when they must take up their mantle in this world by establishing the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play.

And that is the purpose of Little League Baseball."

CCRESIDENT09...Thanks for the reply.I know what you are talking about. We used to own farm land but we did'nt live close enuff to keep an eye on it and we eventually had to sell it because there were so many who used it like it was theirs. It's a shame that responsible hunters are shut out of a place to hunt due to the actions of a few. The kids who will not have a chance to enjoy hunting are the ones I really feel sorry for.
