Great news for the people who travel up and down hiway 55 as this will be a good place to stop and shop on the way to their destination. I hope this will generate enough business to sustain the store as I doubt it will see much local support.
Unless Dollar General plans on selling milk for .99 cents a gallon and bread for .25 cents a loaf then Wally World will continue get all the business. Maybe they can figure out how to make enough profit cashing rubber checks and selling beer and cigarettes to keep the doors open.

Interesting article. Shop at home, good idea. Another good idea would be for the local merchants to have a decent selection of goods to choose from. I dont know how the jewelry selection is in town since I have'nt had the inclination to purchase jewelry recently. I did go in search of a nice camera recently. Had to go to Dothan to get it.
Went looking for an electric blanket this week. Got pissed off after going to 6 stores in town and being told each time " sorry, were out of them". Ordered one online.
If you entrepenuers want to live in the Country Club area and drive new cars every 3 months and have all the material posessions affiliated with being a major player in the retail trade which is supported by the shopping public, give us a little selection from which to choose. Is that asking too much?

This is some kind of a misunderstanding. I have known this man practically all my life and he is one of the most honest upright humble guys you will ever meet. I hope this is straightened out post haste and both parties are reconciled.

Sounds like Straughn has the makings of a pretty good ball team this year. I dont know the coaches but I would assume they run a tight ship and focus on hard work and discipline.
Teaching the fundementals and instilling a good work ethic along with the pride that comes along with accomplishing a goal within a team environment. That is how a winning program is built.
On the other hand, you could run your program like another school in the county does. Having a chaotic undiciplined goof off period playing grabass and risking the kids safety every afternoon. I guess there is more than one way to do things.

There are kids in Red Level School today that are watching new flat wide screen televisions while they sit in a cold class room because the school says they cannot afford to buy a part to fix the heating system. It is not about how many funds, it is about how those funds are used.

I am estatic at the news that he will never be considered for parole. I am also shocked that his mouthpiece let him plead out. Since there was nothing to lose I would have expected a trial with the upstanding defense attorney putting the kids on the witness stand to grill and attempt to confuse and intimidate in hopes of getting an aquittal.
I am so pleased they along with their families wont have to be exposed to that and hopefully now they can get closure and try to lead as normal a life as is possible after such a tragedy.

Glad to see the "fire siren" brought outta retirement. Back in the day it was sounded every Thursday at high noon to let all the business owners know it was time to close. Every shop, store, and business in town, save 1, closed at noon on Thursday. Barrow Grocery and Furniture was the only one that would'nt close. If the rapture had happened Teddy would have asked to stay behind along with his employees so as not to miss makin a dollar.
