I suppose that pjcsoftball throws out the word socialism just like the big fat drug addict named Rush something on the radio to slander those they disagree with. Which doesn't demonstrate a high degree of intelligence, only that they are capable of running off at the mouth.

As to the matter of deciding what is right or wrong, sometimes it is not so simple. Sometimes we face decisions where it is a choice between right and right or wrong and wrong. Or to say it another way life is not always black of white but a big fuzzy gray area.

There is a one guy already on the court named Scalia who gave the inane decision that gave the 2000 election who said that to allow the recounting of the voted in Florida would do irreparable harm to the candidacy of George W. Bush. I guess you could say that he was showing"empathy" towards George Bush. He daddy said that Clarence Thomas showed "empathy" when appointed him to the county. Yet when President Obama, a former professor of constitutional law, decides to appoint Sonia Sotomayor to court and says that she demonstrates empathy Sean Hannity and Karl Rove go ballistic.

On Do you like Obama’s pick of Sonia Sotomayor to be the next Supreme Court justice?

Since StabbingWestward can't or will not tell us what laws he seems to know about operation and maintenance of county jails, I wont either. But StabbingWestward thinks it is ok t4o operate a jail with a hole in the fence and sit round and wait for the county maintenance man to fix it is all nice tidy and legal, the I say you need to look at the hole inthe donut the next time you eat one then tell us why you think there is hale there and how it got there.

After Doster got out the first time, I ran into Wilbur Mitchell in the grocery store. He looked at me and said "They can't break out if you keep the doors locks. If you think Doster crawled out of an air vent, then I guess yous can believe the story about nobody noticing a hole needed fixing.

The fact that the county maintenance man will not do his job is beside the point. The sheriff is legally responsible for the operation of the jail not the county comm. The fact there was a hole in the fence was his problem and hisa responsibility to see to it that it was fixed.

About the underpaid deputies............well its like this. The sheriff lost the income from the contract with US Marshalls because one of the federal prisoners escape through the hole in the fence that Doster and his buddies went through. This is because neither sheriff or anybody working for him at the jail seemed to have noticed that the hole was still there. Those that knew the hole was still there didn't have the presence of mind to see to it that it was fixed. Which is sort of like eating a donut without noticing the hole in it.

Has it occurred to the local constabulary that some one might have walk by by this mans house and threw a few seeds in his yard? A few years a ago a couple of local citizens in Evergreen got tired of the drivel in the Evergreen Courant and started another newspaper/ When they started writing stories about the corrupt loice department guess what....marijuana plants sprang up in the flower boxes in front of the newspaper office. Since the local narcs knew who did the planting no arrests where made. Duh!

The state law governing bingo in Covington county requires that an applicant for a bingo permit be a non profit corporation that has owned property in Covington County for least five years. The only ones located in Florala that I can find that own property are: Florala EMS and the Florala Historical Society, i don't really look to either of them to gfo into the electronic bingo business. So.......how are the Indians going to qualify to get into bingo in Florala?

Tony Wells sold life insurance and who took his children who were in 4H and FFA shows to show their live stock. This somehow qualified him to run a horse arena. He mismanaged it, so we need to find him another job. He has no qualification to be EMA Director or to run the flood insurance program (which requires an engineering background) either. So I guess when the next disaster hits while he is home in bed, there will be nobody to turn on the sirens. The county is in a big mess now and it is fixing to get a lot worse.

On Director will remain at E911

There are three engineering firms in Andalusia, yet the uses a firm in Montgomery. There are 10 accounting firms in Andalusia, yet the uses a firm in Enterprise that a lot of money gave to the mayors campaign. There are more lawyers in Andalusia than I can count on two hands and at least one foot, yet the Utility Board uses a firm in Tuscaloosa where the mayor's daughter works. The City Council needs to start a shopping at home.

If covingtoncountycitizen2008 knows what the salary of the EMA/991 was before the county comm. split the job into two jobs, then he/she ought to what it was.

On E-911 makes salary offer
