Andalusia's 11- and 12-year-old Little League All-Stars remained in the hunt at the district tournament being held in Brewton.

The Andalusia All-Stars topped the Brewton All-Stars 3-1 on Monday in an elimination game to stay alive in the tournament.

Andalusia went on top 2-0 in the first inning when Ryan Godwin reached base on a lead-off single. He scored later in the inning when James Hogg ripped an RBI-double to left field.

Hogg rounded the bases and scored later in the inning on an RBI-triple by Jeffry Etheridge.

Brewton got out of the inning without any more damage, but failed to score against Andalusia and starting pitcher James Hogg until the third inning when Evan Burkett reached on a walk and came around to score.

Andalusia, however, remained on top 2-1 and shutdown the Brewton squad the rest of the way behind Hogg's pitching performance.

Andalusia also tacked on an insurance run in the fifth inning when Nathan Shirey scored after reaching base on a single.

Hogg pitched a complete game for the win striking out 12. He gave up two hits and eight walks.

The Andalusia All-Stars returned to action yesterday and faced the East Brewton All-Star at 6 p.m.
