The Covington Arts Council,

approaching its 30th year, will be holding a "Survivor" themed fundraiser on July 25 at Pepperoni Jacks. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $25 per adult.

A tropical-flavored meal will be served during the evening and attendees will have a chance to participate in various games.

Seating will be limited and those wishing to find information about purchasing tickets can call Pepperoni Jacks.

This is the first fundraiser for the Arts Council, and Executive Director Paula Harr said she is expecting a particularly festive evening.

"This (type of event) is brand new for us," said Harr. "We are really excited and

I think it will be something different for Andalusia and something different to do during the week. This will be on a Thursday night so people won't be at the beach yet. There will be a real nice tropical meal."

She said after a meal, there will be a game for each table, and there will be tables of four.

"Whoever wins at the table is your table's representative and they will form teams for different (physical) games," said Harr. "At the end, there will be only two people left,

and the audience will vote on who gets cast off, and the winner gets $100, and everyone at his or her table gets their $25 dollars back. It will be a lot of fun, plus it will support the Arts Council."

During the evening, Harr said, tickets will also be sold for a chance to win a three-day, three-night Florida vacation, including accomodations in a three-bedroom, three-bathroom condominium at Orange Beach. Those tickets will be $5. Harr said those purchasing tickets do not have to be present at the fundraiser to win that prize. The winner will be announced that night, however. The vacation is courtesy of Gulfview Travel.

"We are hoping for (a big turnout) and remember that seating is limited so people need to buy their tickets soon," said Harr.

Tickets can be purchased at Ansley Place, Brooks Hardware, Pepperoni Jacks or from any

Arts Council board member.

Harr, who has been with the Arts Council for nearly ten years, said another fundraiser is

planned for the early winter, with a tentative "Roadkill Grill" theme.
