A trip to the Alabama Little League State Tournament is a dream come true for any young baseball player.

The Covington County 9- and 10-year-old Little League All-Stars earned the right to live that dream when they won the District 5 Tournament in Evergreen. Their dream, however, could evaporate into thin air without a little help from the cities and communities that make up Covington County.

The Covington County All-Stars are going to the tournament being held in Florence beginning this weekend, but they sure could use some financial help to help cover the cost of traveling to north Alabama, housing and food.

Ron Haag, vice president of the Covington County Little League Board, explained that the cost of the trip will be between $4,000 and $6,000.

Some donations have already been made to help cover the expenses. However, more donations are needed.

Checks should be made out to Covington County Little League and all donations are tax deductible. Haag said the league can provide a receipt and federal tax identification number for those who require such documentation.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated, Haag said.
